  When sitting on the beautiful stone patio, one feels a world away. Yes, just around the corner is the sweet, small town of Eastsound. 3 bedrooms upstairs, 1 down. 1 full bath up, on full bath down. Both have tub/shower combo. Larger, jetted tub upstairs. This home is SPOTLESS and presented like a hotel. Nice amenities. I can't think of a thing this place didn't have. The view from the patio and sun deck is beyond words.

  My family stayed at the Homestead at the end of November 2012. The house was plenty big enough for us to eat, sleep and play in. The location is ideal on Orcas. It is literally steps from Eastsound and all the shops and restaurants. A short drive takes you to Olga or Doe Bay if you want to explore the island. One of my concerns traveling late in the year would be the temperature in the house. Well, it is not a concern here! The house was plenty warm, which is great in a big house. There are 2 gas fireplaces that help warm things up and the bedrooms were very warm. For a house that can handle all of us (9) it was still very cozy and comfortable. We can't wait to return!

  A truly beautiful house which served for a wonderful family vacation. We loved it so much we booked an extra night! Lovely kitchen and bathrooms. Great location. The only downside is that to of the bedrooms had bright street light at night shining in them. We made full use of the kitchen and it truly is well stocked with everything you need to cook with.

  This place is so great!!! Absolutely adorable. This is my dream house...owners have done an amazing job renovating, you can tell it's a house that someone has loved. The decor is fabulous and in keeping with the period of the house. The kitchen is extremely well stocked. The deck is great...I could go on and on. It's very pet friendly, but you'd never know that other pets have stayed her...it's very very well kept. I'd definitely stay here again. We absolutely loved it.

  We were there for a week with nine adults, the only thing we could agree on was the The Homestead was an amazing place. It is located in a wonderful location close to everything in Eastsound and was roomy enough for nine adults. Everything about the house was perfect! Susan was very helpful before and during the vacation with helpful information about the islands, we had a issue unrelated to the house or Susan while we were there and we asked for her ideas, she quickly responded with several solutions and even had someone check with us to make sure all was well! We will be back!

  The Homestead is a beautiful, well-appointed and well-located classic Orcas home. The house is very roomy, easy to live with and has all of the features needed for a wonderful stay in the San Juan Islands. The entire village of Eastsound is easy walking distance yet there is enough of a buffer to feel the relaxing atmoshphere of the waterfront and trees. The owners are extremely easy to work with and are committed to making the experience memorable and trouble-free. We plan to return frequently and continue to develop our relationship with Orcas Island with the help of this lovely home. Thank you again, Susan, for a wonderful stay!

  We just returned from 2 nights at the Homestead & enjoyed every second of our stay. My son was married Saturday night at the Odd Fellows Hall & the house was so convenient to both the hall & downtown Eastsound! We weren't able to spend much time on non-wedding activities but the beach is right outside & great shopping is just around the corner or down the street. The views from the home are absolutely gorgeous! It's obvious that this home has received tender, loving care. It's very clean. Every detail has been taken care of, every need has been anticipated & every opportunity to create serenity, joy & happiness has been taken advantage of. We had brunch for about 20 people Saturday morning & found the kitchen very well-equipped. This home is just as depicted in the photos. It's not surprising to me at all that it is booked so far in advance! We plan to return as soon as possible. Our warm thanks & gratitude to their owners for their care, thoughtfulness & hospitality.

  I am local to Orcas Island, but rented the Homestead for a large family event with out-of-town guests (5 couples and a toddler). The house is incredibly beautiful and lovingly restored in every way. It is even better than the photos shown in the listing, and we were surprised how very spacious it was. It is well-appointed and furnished, and I would describe the house in general as having a very Pottery Barn feel. We all immediately decided we wanted to live there! As my aunt said, "it has such a great feeling to it--it just hugs you when you come in". It accommodated all my family very comfortably. We were able to cook and host a large dinner there, and the space was more than adequate, with two dining areas, a breakfast bar, and lots of seating. The kitchen really well-stocked with equipment and my husband loved grilling on the deck with the very nice and large propane grill. The location was truly perfect; right in town, but with a very private feel, right on the waterfront. Everyone could go their own ways, explore town, go to the beach, and we had easy access to the Odd Fellows Hall for one of our events. Susan is a most helpful owner, and being a long-time local, had many helpful suggestions for planning our weekend. I was amazed at how reasonable the rate was on this property. Eating out is a breeze, as there are many restaurants, cafes, and bakeries all within walking distance. However, if you'd like to save a few dollars, or just like to cook, the Island Market and Homegrown Market are also just down the street. Quite honestly, this is the best vacation rental I've ever rented! We will definitely be back to this beautiful home.

  "The Homestead" was everything we were looking for in a rental home and more. The owners have meticulously restored this beautiful turn-of-the-century home so that it's immaculate and full of character. It's been furnished with great furniture, an excellent kitchen and grill and fabulous touches like working wifi internet, plush towels, soaps and shampoos and a hand made guide to local attractions. It was the best of both worlds; combining the comfort of a vintage home with the amenities of a hotel. We loved the location, surrounded by a garden complete with visiting rabbits, a private deck with water view and just steps to town. We walked to yoga, the shops, grocery stores, bakery and ice cream parlor. An extra bonus was that the owner generously helped us plan every detail of our vacation in vacation -- from local whale watching to horseback riding, from hiking the local trails to visits as far away as Victoria Island and the Cascade Mountain Range. She had great suggestions! Thanks to her, from the moment our family of four arrived at the "Homestead" we had a fabulous time. By the way, amazing food in walking distance. Our only regret was that we had to go home. We think of the house often and hope to return again!!
