Bainbridge Island house description
Waterfront luxury beach house with spectacular 180-degree views of Seattle, Mt. Rainier, Cascades, and the Seattle skyline from all living areas (including from bed in master bedroom). Private hot tub (May 15-Oct. 15). Located at Skiff Point on the eastern shore of Bainbridge Island, the Rising Moon Beach House is just a 35-minute ferry ride from Seattle, and only minutes by car from the ferry landing.
This vacation rental is the top two floors of a house perched on a coastal bluff overlooking Puget Sound. Spectacular in any season, its crown jewel is the master suite, with panoramic views of the mountains and Seattle from the queen bed and also from the deep soaking tub in a tiled, slate-floored bathroom.
Night and day, wildlife abounds along our coastal bluff. Many bird species are regularly seen, including bald eagles, osprey, blue herons, loons, swallows and songbirds. We have a year-round population of iridescent-throated hummingbirds that probably will visit you on the deck (you also can see them lying in bed in the master bedroom). We have seen (and heard) Orca whales from the yard, as well as pilot whales, sea lions, seals, and otters.
The master suite on the top floor consists of a large bedroom with a sitting area and loveseat, and a raised bed nook with a queen bed surrounded on the south and east by 7-foot long windows that afford a panoramic view of Puget Sound, the Seattle skyline and Mt. Rainier. A furnished deck off the master bedroom provides the same view, and is a delightful spot for your morning coffee. The second bedroom, also on the top floor with a queen bed, pampers your senses with its designer colors and views of the City, Puget Sound, and Mt. Rainier.
The living room features a gas fireplace, huge bay window, and cushioned window seat looking out to the water and professionally landscaped yard. Patio doors lead from the dining area to a large private deck for bar-b-ques. Or if you prefer to be even closer to the water, next to the bluff is a bluestone fire circle where you can build a campfire. Nothing is more relaxing than sitting next to a crackling fire, listening to the rhythm of the waves on the beach--unless it's soaking in the hot tub, which is accessed by a bluestone path around the side of the house, or lying in bed and watching the moon make a silver path across Puget Sound.
The ever-changing view from your windows and yard will include every variety of maritime traffic that plies the Puget Sound shipping lanes, from cargo ships heading into Elliott Bay, to tankers, cruise ships, tug boats, Coast Guard cutters, and even aircraft carriers.
It's an easy walk from the house to the historic Rolling Bay Cafe for your morning coffee, or the Island Music Center for an evening of jazz or bluegrass. Live theatre and musical performances are also offered at Bainbridge Performing Arts in Winslow, a 10-minute drive from the house.
Bainbridge Island has an abundance of excellent restaurants, seven artisan wineries and tasting rooms, two state parks, and the award-winning Bloedel Reserve with 150 acres of spectacular gardens, ponds, and trails. In season, you can bring your fishing gear and waders and try your luck in front of the house (access to the beach is just half a block down the street), or you can rent a kayak in Winslow and explore Bainbridge from the water. Most likely, though, you will want to spend most of your time enjoying the Beach House, where the stresses of the world melt away.
Your hosts live on site and are available if you need directions, suggestions for sightseeing, or any other assistance.

Better than expected!!
Better than expected!!
We had such a lovely time! The sky was alternately clear then stormy. City lights at night. Lightening storm viewed from the bed. How romantic! Eagles, as if on cue, as I bathed. We woke up to the gentle thump of two hummingbirds at the feeder. I could not have arranged a better time. Thank you for your hospitality! The home was so clean. Well arranged and stocked.

My girlfriend and I had the opportunity to stay here for her surprise birthday getaway. We hit very good weather for the season and had fantastic views of Seattle and Mt. Rainier. We both are from Western Washington, but there is always something so soothing about this area...we have decided this will be an annual visit for us it was that amazing!! From scheduling the trip to a wonderful note afterwards, Katherine was amazing and very helpful. The home is absolutely beautiful and you feel like it is your home when you are there, which brings even more peacefulness to the stay.

What a spot!!!
What a spot!!!
We had the pleasure of staying at this wonderful house for the whole month of October and it was terrific! As stated in the previous reviews, the house is great and the view is stunning and we were so lucky to have had three eagle visits AND two Orcas parades right in front of the house! Our grandkids loved the hot tub and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit.

I agree with previous reviews that the pictures do not do this wonderful place justice. My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights and we really did NOT want to leave. The owners were so gracious, friendly and helpful with all our needs and questions; they think of EVERYTHING- top quality linens and towels, bath gels and lotions, binoculars, top of the line cookware and I could go on. We never had dinner out, it was so beautiful on the deck with those million dollar views that we ate there every night. We took day trips to Seattle, had nice walks/hikes in the many parks and really enjoyed the cute little town. Overall Rising Moon Beach House and Bainbridge Island was a great experience. I can't wait to book again next year!

WOW! This place is amazing. We spent a very relaxing week here with our two boys (ages 14 and 11). The pictures don't do this place justice. I think it must be the best view on the island and so conveniently located. We were just in awe of it all, especially Mt. Ranier and the Seattle skyline! We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Katherine and Al were so welcoming, the place was so clean and well stocked with kitchen items, towels, linens, cleaning supplies, blankets, books and DVDs. The beds are very comfortable also. The landscaping is gorgeous and so well maintained. We woke up every morning and enjoyed our coffee looking at that view, and every night we enjoyed a glass of wine with that view. We never got tired of it. We saw so much activity and wildlife, we didn't even watch any TV. We laughed and said the bay window was our National Geographic Channel. We saw a bald eagle several times a day as her nest was in a tree about two houses down from us. We saw a submarine, dolphins, seals, ducks, raccoons, cruise ships, crab fishing vessels, and a deer that came to eat breakfast and dinner right in our backyard. We even saw a pod of orcas on our ride over on the ferry the first night and a black bear up at Hurricane Ridge! Our son enjoyed the hot tub and we even lit the fire pit one night. It was never boring and we had to tear ourselves away from the house to go see other sites. We enjoyed walking to the beaches and uncovering starfish, mussels, and clams. The neighborhood is very quiet and we really enjoyed walks at sunset. Everyone was so nice that we met along the way. The house is very convenient to grocery stores, beaches, restaurants, and the ferry. It only takes about 35 minutes and you are in Seattle, although you may find you are happy to just stay on the island. Bloedel Reserve is a must see and a drive up to Port Angeles, Port Townsend and Hurricane Ridge (in the Olympic National Forest) are not to be missed. Poulsbo is a short distance as well and is a very cute Norwegian village on the water. I highly recommend this rental. It was a home away from home. We hope to come back someday. We will treasure our week spent in this enchanting place.

Heaven on Earth

Oh, I get so homesick for this house just looking back at the photos. It is a very, very special place. It seems impossible to imagine finding a spot that is so peaceful, with so much natural light and utterly exquisite views from every window, and yet close to everything. Amazing to be able to see both the gorgeous city skyline across the water and the ranges of mountains on either side. There is such interesting sporadic (silent) boat traffic, too. And bald eagles make low fly-bys through the pristine yard. The house is warm and cozy and has everything you'd hope for. I can't imagine a better kitchen to wash up in, with that view. It really is as lovely as the pictures suggest. And the beds are extraordinarily comfortable. I am fussy about beds but these were exceptional. The place was very clean and everything in full working order. Katherine is a delight and though she and Al live below you, you wouldn't know they are there. There is so much to see and do locally and such GREAT places to eat--though bring home food from the Town and Country Markets some nights, just so as not to miss the spectacle of the sun going down over the city. Sunrises are even better - right into the front of the house. You'll remember this spot forever (and wish you'd found it first...). I am a writer and this was the perfect place in which to work. I'd love to come back.

Best of the best...
Best of the best...
I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Rising Moon Beach House. Having spent the last several weeks in sweltering Los angeles heat, I was looking for a place to decompress and get away from 100 plus degree temperatures. The pictures on Rising Moon's website spoke to me and off I went. Picture a house that has been so lovingly and painstakingly designed to afford comfort, ease, beauty and hospitality, then mix in your dreams of a vacation home and you've got Rising Moon Beach House. A chef's kitchen with views of the sound, a deck off the living room with more glorious views of the water, Mt. Rainier, Seattle and Mt. Baker. Upstairs, the master bedroom is the tour de force of the house. The bed is elevated so as to afford still more views of the Puget Sound and a deck to step out in the evening and watch...yes.. the rising moon or greet the birds chirping outside in the morning. Katherine and al have even put a hummingbird feeder outside the bedroom window for your entertainment too. A pair of binoculars has been thoughtfully placed on a table beside the bed to enhance your viewing pleasure. The master bath has a beautiful soaking tub and separate shower ... the floors are done in Chinese pale green slate. There are aromatherapy bath salts, body butter and liquid soaps to awaken you in the morning or lull you to sleep. The house is secluded yet a mere 3 miles from downtown Winslow and its gourmet markets, shops and eateries. Katherine and al have thought of everything and then some. It is impossible not to feel comfortable, welcomed and embraced by this home. As for the weather, it cooperated too with warm, sunny days and crisp cool nights. I can't wait to return to Rising Moon Beach House ... Leslie P. Los Angeles, CA

Peaceful paradise by the water!
Peaceful paradise by the water!
Our family(two teens) spent a lovely, quiet and relaxing week at this comfortable and very modern, clean and welcoming location. The very best part was being right on the water and having a real break from the noise and hectic life we lead in a major city. Wow! Cannot say enough about the kind owners and spectacular views, comfy home they have created. Bainbridge Island is a winner, and this home is a great place to stay. Near everything you need, and everything in good working condition. Would gladly return. Photos do not do it justice, not by a long shot!

Best Moon View of Seattle!
Best Moon View of Seattle!
This open & light-filled living/dining with unobstructed views of Seattle, Mt. Ranier, sails & ships, and the moon rising over the water is superb! Also resident Bald Eagles! Bed in master bedroom on raised Dias in large windowed alcove to watch city lights and rising moon from bed. Wall- mounted T.V. viewable from bed too. Heated slate floor in European styled, tiled bathroom. Scrupulously clean, well-stocked with cookware, glassware & top quality appliances. Pantry items & snacks too. Living-level laundry. We also enjoyed the same views from evening hot-tub sessions; rope lights along the path and at the hot-tub deck made access visible. Remarkably quiet despite ships back & forth on water day & night, and criss- crossing airplane lights like fireflies in the night sky. Binoculars provided on both the living & bedroom levels made quick looks possible.

We spent 2 days for our anniversary at this spectacular Bainbridge Island property. The view was stunning. We had planned to go out to dinner both nights be decided to eat dinner on the deck as the view is so great, it is quiet, there is boat traffic to watch, and eagle's flying by and catching fish in the Sound. I highly recommend staying here. We plan to come back again.
