Home Away from Home
Home Away from Home
Simply stated - the perfect home away from home, or better! Linda and Jim were the PERFECT hosts to our one week stay at their well furnished, simple, cozy cabin in Norwich, Vermont. My husband and I enjoyed the quiet setting, and the close proximity to anything we wanted to do. I had the pleasure of taking a four day class at King Arthur Flour Education Center, just a mere 5 minutes away! Linda and Jim were happy to share the bread I brought home each day from my class. We also had our two corgis, Mack and Maya, with us on vacation. They enjoyed the back yard, playing with Coby (spelling?) and Madden, the Mayo's dogs, and taking long walks back the lane. The pictures are a true representation of the cabin. We had plenty of room, and Linda missed no details in making the cabin a true gem! The rooms were clean and comfy. The kitchen was glorious -- I cooked meals all week and even baked, and all I needed to supply was the food! Thank you, Linda and Jim, for a wonderful and memorable stay. We will DEFINITELY be back!

This is a great little cottage! The four of us (2 adults, 2 small children) were very comfortable there. The place is well equipped and clean, and it's conveniently located for some great kid-friendly attractions (King Arthur Flour, Montshire Museum). The hosts are very friendly and helpful.

My husband and I shared this cabin with another couple for 4 nights over the New Year Holiday. The setting is beautiful, the cabin cozy and comfortable and the hosts a delight. Though the cabin shares a wall with the main house, you would never know it. It's a very private accommodation, yet help is very near if you need it. It's also very convenient to the Dartmouth campus, and just down the road from King Arthur's Bakery. We skied and hiked right from the property (it's very near the Appalachian Trail). We'll be going back.

Very Special Place
Very Special Place
I was fortunate to rent the cabin from September 2011 through May 2012 while working at Dartmouth College. What a wonderful place! From the day I arrived Jim and Linda were great. The cabin was spotless and cosy - every room had flowers in it. For the duration of my stay I did not need to do so much as change a light bulb and even though cabin is attached to the main house, the Mayo's are extremely sensitive to privacy and having your own space. Noise was never a problem and I knew that someone was nearby in the event of an emergency or if I needed anything. With regards location the cabin is ideally suited for easy access to surrounding towns and supplies, however you can walk out the door and be on the Appalachian trail in minutes. I have two dogs and they had a marvelous time on the hill - going for walks and playing with the other dogs. It is not easy to find pet friendly accommodations and I was grateful that the cabin was such a perfect spot for them. Overall my time in the Upper Valley is one of the highlights in my life, and largely due to the positive experience I had renting the cabin and living among truly decent, good, people.

This cabin is quite the find!
This cabin is quite the find!
GREAT location with some PEACE and quiet but near some fabulous food and fun activities. We were welcomed with fresh flowers and herbs from the gardens. BEAUTIFUL property. The furniture is comfortable and the kitchen is well lit and functional. Outdoor seating space is a real plus. Fabulous water pressure in the shower and comfortable beds and linens. We stayed here for serveral days while my husband took a break from his Appalachian Trail thru - hike. For us it was a GREAT chance to rest, relax and re-connect. He got a chance to eat some fresh non-trail food as well. The markets, farm stands and coops have some wonderful treats. Including duck eggs and local dairy products. This was a summer stay but I suspect it is a beautiful spot in any season and I'd gladly return for another visit!
