Hawaiian Luxury Beachfront Home

Hale Moana Mele “House of Ocean Music”

Hale Moana Mele is a delightful large vacation rental home located on one of Oahu's nicest sandy bottomed swimming beaches. Hale Moana Mele is a newly furnished home which fronts a sandy beach and ocean front yard complete with coconut palms and a lush tropical garden. Walk out of the gated front yard onto a gorgeous postcard beautiful white sandy beach....which is protected by an outer reef making it perfect for swimming, snorkeling or just playing in the gentle surf…..fun for all ages. An early morning walk on the mostly deserted beach will convince you that you are really in paradise. Often the only footprints in the sand are yours. You are lulled to sleep at night by the soft sounds of the waves….thus the name Hale Moana Mele or House of Ocean Music.

This very special home is located in Hauula, a sleepy rural coastal village nestled between the mountains and the sea. Hale Moana Mele is a welcome retreat from the frantic hustle and bustle of Honolulu’s busy cosmopolitan lifestyle. Hauula is close to The Polynesian Cultural Center, Turtle Bay Hotel, golf, tennis and other popular attractions. A bit further on the scenic drive along the ocean you will come to historic Haleiwa town and world famous surfing sites of Sunset Beach, Bonsai Pipeline and Waimea Bay. A bus stop across the street provides easy access to the great around island bus service in case you are the only one in your group who wants to shop in Waikiki or visit a museum in downtown Honolulu.

Hale Moana Mele's first floor features a large modern kitchen completely equipped to prepare and serve a gourmet meal. This lovely home is newly furnished in tasteful Polynesian décor. The living area, dining room, bathroom and one of the twin bedrooms are on this floor. The living area has a wide flat screen TV, a DVD/VCR player and cable TV. A high speed wireless internet connection is included.

On the second floor the large master bedroom suite and private bath has 12 foot sliding glass doors which open to the expansive ocean view from your king size bed. The second ocean view bedroom and the third bedroom share an adjacent bathroom. A lanai runs the full length of the second story and is a delightful place to sit and relax in the morning to greet the tropical sunrise.

A covered patio at the yard level is complimented with a large table and chairs, lounges and a hammock for your idyllic comfort. Also included are boogie boards and a collection of masks, reef walkers and snorkels for your use although we can’t guarantee they will fit everyone. A charcoal BBQ rounds out the outdoor accessories.

You deserve a truly relaxing tropical idyll and this unusual unique island paradise, Hale Moana Mele, is the perfect place to enjoy it..

This was a most enjoyable and relaxing rental. The 4-bedroom home was perfect for the 9 people from three generations, who ranged in age from 8 months to 78 years. The description of the home was very accurate - it had all the normal things one needs for comfortable living on the beach. There were many beach toys, extensive outdoor furniture, a very relaxing hammock, and ocean views and beach activities that cannot be beat. The kitchen was very well outfitted. Right across the street is a souvenir store with very good prices and a very pleasant owner. There are many small restaurants within 3-4 miles, including a large supermarket at Laie, only 3.5 miles away. Having lived in Hawaii and visited there many times, we did not need much in the way of tourist recommendations, but both Norman, the owner, and Lata, the manager, were kind and considerate throughout the pre-rental and rental periods and always willing to provide any information or advice that was needed. The only somewhat frustrating part of the stay was the parking situation. The home has a garage for 2 vehicles. However, they better not be large ones. One of ours was a minivan, and the clearance for that vehicle for the garage doors to shut was about 4 inches total. The house is very close to the highway and on a curve, and the length of the driveway is just a bit longer than the length of a vehicle, so every time one took a vehicle out it was an exciting, and sometimes nerve wracking, challenge. Overall this was a delightful beach home that resulted in 9 wonderful days for our families.

Owner response: Thanks for the review. Glad that you and your family enjoyed your stay at Hale Moana Mele. It is a unique place on the beach. The two car garage can be a little tight for the larger vans; however, most do fit as you found. One thing I learned after living there for 25 years; "go with the flow". If the commuter traffic is "heavy", turn right out of the driveway and turn at the next turn off to head back into town. Very calming way to go.

We rented this home from 4/11-4/21-13. My family of 4 (4yr old and 3 mo old daughters), my inlaws and mother (very nice there was a bedroom downstairs as she has knee issues) also stayed in this home during this time. EVERYONE was very comfortable. It is well appointed, located RIGHT ON THE WATER, and has become according to my 4 year old our "Hawaii house" lol. It was everyone's first visit to HI, and the house helped make it that much more enjoyable, because of the family setting one cannot get from a hotel or IMO even a condo. While the North Shore is a bit of a ride from Honolulu it was worth EVERY MILE. Being in a laid back stress free environment for a family with 2 small children was a Godsend. Turtle bay is right up the road and there's a wonderful restaurant there and we even got to see a few of the last whales to leave for the season from the beach there. The owner and property manager will take care of any needs that should arise immediately. We had two very minor issues while there and I only point them out to illuminate the speed with which the issues were handled. The owner also stayed on contact throughout our visit to be sure we had everything we needed and all was going well (not intrusively just very helpful). The next door permanent neighbor is also a very helpful and kind gentleman. We stayed quite busy during our time there between, some work and some play, but every night my 4 year old and I enjoyed a walk down the peaceful beach to see the small crabs coming out to search for their dinner. The scenery between Honolulu and Hauula are worth the drive alone even if you didn't have this nice comfy home to retire to for the evening, but thankfully we did. Each night was there beckoning us back from long days at Pearl Harbor, Snorkeling/SNUBA (not a typo lol), trips to Maui, and the Big island as well as several days of work. Should we ever have the chance to return to Oahu I would definitely hope to stay at "our Hawaii house" again! I know it will hold a special place in our hearts, and my 4 year old would be thrilled. Thank you Norman for a wonderful time and the help you provided!!!

Woke up each morning with a view of the ocean right from bed thinking it was too good to be true. Even better than the pictures! Clean, well stocked, and the Owner was extremely friendly and attentive. It really felt like home, not just a house. Yard is large, and safely enclosed...yet in a way that does not detract from the fabulous view. Lush garden on the back side seperates it from Kam Highway, like you are in another world once you pass through the gate. The outdoor shower was very convenient after playing in the water or snorkling just steps away. Appreciated the gear that was available there. We also rented a Kayak from Beach Times. They not only had great prices but delivered it right to the house and picked it up afterwards. Our family of 2 adults and 4 children ages 10-17 had more than enough space. The master bedroom was huge and had a walk in closet. The oceanside "wall" is all window /sliding door. It was impossible to not feel relaxed in that setting, even making the bed and folding laundry in there was a pleasure. Comfortable chairs and table right outside on the lanai. 3 full bathrooms meant we were not fighting for space even with 6 of us getting teady in the mornings. Nice bath and beach towels were provided. Beds were very comfortable, plenty of pillows and extra blankets, closet space and dressers. Large kitchen with plenty of storage and everything you need. Island themed furniture was comfortable and sturdy....for some reason I was expecting it to be nice looking but somewhat flimsy at a rental....but I was pleasantly surprised at the high quality. Just one more way that this place was not only as good as the pictures, but even better. Also loved the bamboo(?) mats. WiFi and entertainment center were plusses. Location could not be beat. Small quiet town, beautiful beaches, friendly people, fun gift shop right across the street, other shopping and places to eat nearby, and just a short trip either direction to other agtractions such as Ted's Bakery, Matsumotos Shave Ice, Sunset Suzy's surf lessons, Macadamia Nut Outlet, Chied Sielu's Ali'i Tour and Luau (awesome and authentic, check them out), Haunama Bay, Kualoa Ranch(in addition to tours, get fresh grass fed beef there to grill back at the house) Diamond Head, Pearl Harbor, Polynesian Cultural Center and an obligitory visit to the beautiful but crowded Waikiki leaving you even happier to be staying at Hale Moana Mele. Our family of five stayed here and completely enjoyed our time. The house is located conveniently from Honolulu, Waikiki, and the north shore area. Very roomy for all of us. Fun beach things provided. The gift store across the street was fun and restaurants and grocery stores were really close. Both the owner and property manager were fantastic to deal with and kept in touch with us before and during our stay. The house was very clean and well stocked. We will definitely stay here again when we come back to Oahu.

This really is a Hawaiian Paradise, I was just looking at the pictures again and wishing we were back. This is the first time I have ever used VRBO and I was a little nervous but I'm so glad that I did. The owner was wonderful to work with and the house was amazing! The house was exceptional, better than I pictured, very clean and well maintained and the yard is gorgeous!!! I love that you have an unobstructed view of the ocean but that the yard is fenced allowing the kids to play outside without being able to access the beach alone. Speaking of the beach, that was also amazing, beautiful and sandy with waves just right for playing in the water (not too strong). The house is stocked with everything you could imagine you might need and then some. To be honest, it had many things I hadn't thought of asking about but was so glad to find when I needed them. We have already given the property # of the house to several friends who want to stay here after hearing us talk about it. Our entire family wants to come again and my kids want to buy the place and move in for good! I would highly recommend this place, you won't be disappointed. You will also be working with a very thoughtful and helpful owner and property manager!

Thank you owner Norm and manager Lata for being attentive and answering all my questions when needed. We arrived on New Year's Eve Day and were not prepared for how much the locals like to celebrate the holiday!! They really go all out with their fireworks! We had 5 adults and 2 little boys 2+ and 5. Norm was not responsible for the weather, otherwise I know he would have arranged for less rain. It is a beautiful setting, tho, and we enjoyed the view and the sound of the surf. Also went into Kailua and the local bowling alley for a good time. The kitchen has everything you could ever need for cooking and there were plenty of towels, etc. Having a washer and dryer is a bonus with little ones, not to mention the almost unheard of 3 bathrooms!! If you need a retail fix, there is the fun shop across the street with a delightful owner or the town of Haleiwa, about 30 minutes away with a good Mexican restaurant and Matsumoto shave ice...no, not shaveD ice, 'shave ice'... and shops!! Also for the real local 'plate lunch' go to Papa Ole's in the strip mall in town. It is all good, but go easy on the carbs by having the green salad instead of the macaroni salad with your meat and rice! This originated with the plantation workers who needed the carbs for the hard work they were doing, not lounging in the hammock between the palm trees by the water! It was so nice to not be in overdeveloped, looks like any big tourist town Waikiki!! Shame on the planners who let that happen to the beautiful Waikiki of my youth. If you must go there, have lunch at the Moana Surfrider under the stunning and no doubt spirit filled Banyan tree. Also wander upstairs off of the lobby to see the wonderul historical photos and sit a spell on the front porch in one of the rocking chairs and people watch. While the two younger generations would head out on day trips in the rental car, Ma and Pa jumped on the local bus and loved 'talking story' with the locals. This is the real Hawaii, especially if you walk around the neighborhoods on the other side of the highway. Don't delay, tho, as developers continue to threaten adding on to Turtle Bay Resort, and Marriott has its eye on something up the road in Laie. You'll be glad you chose Norm's little piece of paradise.

We stayed 8 nights in this awesome beach house! Spent the first 3 days here, then went into Honolulu to show our quests waikiki beach, have lunch and do a little sightseeing! We coud not get back here fast enough!! We found it hard to want to leave the house at all. There were 5 adults and a 12 year old staying, and we had room to spare! Easily could have had another family stay with us too. Lots of room, never felt crowded at all. It was nice to have our own private beach that was great for swimming. Hardly ever anybody on the beach, just a few neighbors, or people fishing now and again. There is also a nice gift shop across the street, and just a little ways up the road is the polynesian cultural center. Plus a few grocery stores, and lots of Yummy places to get food. We recommend Mikes Huli Huli...awesome garlic shrimp, beef, pork chicken....YUMMY!! Take the short drive up around the North shore & do some sightseeing up there! Stay here...we highly recommend it!!

This was our first visit to Hawaii, and we found ourselves truly in the middle of paradise. Set on the north shore, we were able to really enjoy the beauty and allure of the island, without feeling overrun by tourists. We were close to everything we wanted to see and do, and had the comfort of a cozy home to return to each night. The backyard ocean view can't be beat; we swam in the ocean every day. We can't wait to come back...again, and again, and again!
