My family and I had a wonderful time at this rental house. There were 13 of us total and the house was big enough to meet our needs and it was also very clean. This is a great place and I would recommend it to anyone.

Recommended for:Girls getaway, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, age 55+, tourists without a car, people with disabilities, pet owners, sightseeing, families with young children.

The house itself was great. It suited our needs very well and was in good condition. However, the interactions with the owner added an undue amount of tension before, during and after our stay. At the owners request, we sent payments ahead of schedule. Apparently, there had been damage from other guests during Spring Break that needed to be corrected. The house is clearly advertised as Pet Friendly, and we specifically were looking for such accomodations. We even made a pre trip 3 months prior to the stay to look at pet friendly rentals. Upon our arrival, the owner claimed we had not informed her we had pets. This was clearly not true, but even if it was, other than a potential increase to the deposit, what would it matter if it were pet friendly? During our stay, the owner drove by the property and stopped to inform us a car was "improperly" parked too close to the road. We paid a cleaning fee as a part of the contract but were informed that part of the deposit was being withheld since there was dog hair in the hallway? hmmm...also the deposit was further withheld due to a pile of dog mess in the back yard (1 pile that we missed, mind you). Isn't a deposit for damage, since we paid a cleaning fee? Then, after a couple of weeks we inquired as to where our deposit was. We were informed that some damage had just been found on the outside vinyl siding and that our deposit may have to be reduced some more, although she said she had already sent a check. 10 days later we inquired again as to where the check was and got a similar answer. We finally got angry and the deposit was received. In a nutshell, it was a painful process from start to finish. If you intend to rent tgis house you need to take pictures of every square inch, inside and out. Nothing verbal with this owner. ALL in writing and signed

Owner response:This review is a not the way I run my rental home. I work very hard to make my house a wonderful vacation experience for my guests and their pets. I do allow pets, but they must be mentioned in the rental agreement, along with the number of guests and dogs (large or small, shedding and non-shedding is important information). Then I can determine first if I want to have them stay at my home, or if there is going to be an extra charge, (usually $100) The guests are also told to make sure that if the dogs are left alone in the house, that they are crated, or supervised while in the yard as I do have a swimming pool and the dogs are not allowed in the pool. I told her that the dogs were a surprise to me and in lieu of a pet fee I told her that is was ok as long as she cleaned up the house, wash/sheets and towels and etc. She agreed to do so. (We found dog hair in the hallway and dog droppings outside under the clothes line.) (dated pictures were taken) I made many concessions, as to the ages of her son and his friends (under 25 single males) and that she was not staying at the property. I usually charge a higher damage deposit. (There again, I changed my policy for her) She of course insists it was not her dogs that did the damage. But, she never stayed at the property. The dogs were observed by myself, (the day I had to ask them to move their car out of the road) and my pool man who went to clean the pool, on separate occasions. We both saw the dogs running around unsupervised digging in the sand in the area of the damage. This damage was not there before they arrived, but discovered two days after they left. (dated pictures of the damage) I understand that they love their dogs, I care for my dogs too. I do not like to have to keep any of the damage deposit but my home has been damaged, and needs to be fixed. I try to be very considerate of my guests. I kept a small portion of the deposit even though I was not paid on time. I still have not been able to get if fixed as the repairman is extremely busy. This is the reason why people do not allow pets and make no exceptions This ruins it for others who have dogs that are behaved and owners who are responsible for their pets. This has not changed my pet policy and for all pet owners, please bring your best friends all shapes and sizes. eliza
