Modern Luxuries in 9th Century Southwark!

Southwark is a very historic borough of London; it got its name in the 9th century, and was first settled during the Roman period.
Located directly south of the River Thames and forming part of Inner London, Southwark is home to many fabulous landmarks, including the Tower Bridge, the Millenium Bridge, and the London Bridge. Shard London Bridge, which is under construction, at the moment, will be the tallest building in the entire European Union when complete.
Also of note in this area are its many historic places of worship, including Charles Spurgeon's Metropolitan Tabernacle, Southwark Cathedral, St. Mary's Cathedral, and even St. George the Martyr, the oldest church in Greater London, dedicated to England's Patron Saint.
Another interesting tidbit about Southwark is that it's the place where novelist Charles Dickens grew up, and where many of his famed stories take place.
The Southwark apartment is a 699 square foot, 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom dwelling, located in a relatively new, well-built complex.
The living room is tastefully decorated, with a dining table, six chairs, and two sofas. For entertainment, there's also a flat-screen television, a DVD player, an MP3-compatible stereo, and high-speed internet access without restrictions as to the amount of data transfer taken place.
Both bedrooms boast Queen-sized beds, with quality mattresses, bedding, and linen, to ensure a good night's rest.

-The Old Vic, a historic theatre that was established in 1818, is just 2 minutes by foot from the apartment.

-The London Eye, which is Europe's tallest ferris wheel and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom, is only a short walk away.
-The Design Museum, famed for being the alleged first museum of modern design, is also in the area.
-Shakespeare's Globe, a reconstruction of the burned-down Globe Theatre, is one of London's best playhouses.
-Trafalgar Square, a public space that is often used for political demonstrations and community gatherings, is near to the apartment.

The apartment was very nice, beds were comfortable, bathrooms were very clean and spacious for Europe. Having the kitchen was a plus for fixing our own breakfast and sometimes dinner as food is very expensive in London. The washer / dryer is not very good, it takes hours for one load to wash or dry but then again I am use to my extra large capacity washer and dryer that's does loads in no time. The only complaint was that the light in the hood was burned out and the lamp in the first bedroom did not work. Everything else was wonderful. I especially liked the way you punch in with no keys, this was very convenient. I would recommend this rental company and these apartments to anyone. We had a very pleasant stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed with my family in the apartment and it was very good. Heating was perfect, bathrooms are great, bedding is good, kitchen is very well equipped. Could not asked for more. The surrounding is also very nice! Some suggestions to improve: - Darker color curtain would be very cozy in the bedrooms, as it was too bright. - Street is a bit noisy, but ok. Would be great to come back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The place was great and easy to find. One thing to note is the instructions on the internet were incorrect. We found the code (inside booklet) after two days. Other than this, the flat was perfect for our family of five. Quick walk to the underground.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed at the Southwark apartment with my colleague on business early this month and found it to be perfect for our needs. Two comfortable bedrooms with two bathrooms were ideal after long days in the office. The free high-speed Wifi enabled us to work from home in the evenings and the location was phenomenal. I think 5 mins walk from both Waterloo and Southwark tube stations. I also read about the noise which as a light sleeper made me nervous, but it did not bother me, and I think that for central London you cannot expect total silence. I regularly stay in central Paris and the hustle and bustle of city life is a way of life. Would recommend in a flash and am already planning on returning again in 2012.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Very nice apartment with all the equipment you can imagine, with great instructions for everything. Although there was no staff worked perfect. They got tips on what to do in the different districts, both by mail and in the apartment. Perfect served on all levels! We had a wonderful stay in London!Did you find this review helpful?
