We rented the house for 2 purposes - for a fun family stay for 3 days (with 5 kids ages 10-16), and then for 2 days for my Portland to Coast team (10 women) to have a place to rest and relax after we completed the race. It was perfect! The beds were comfortable, the area is quiet and peaceful...the lake is a lot of fun to canoe or paddle boat. We played pool and ping-pong, and watched movies, and sat in the sauna to relax. We all had a wonderful time!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a small glitch with getting the keys, but that was taken care of quickly by the property manager. The home is geared towards family with lots of fun things to do. The home is on a lake and has a canoe and paddle boat. We really enjoyed using them. The views from the deck were spectacular! We would love to stay there again in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Our group of three families with a total of four little kids in tow had a fantastic time here. Initially I thought the lake would be only a minor diversion, but we ended up spending a lot of time on it in the boats provided. The beach is either a walk or a short drive away (the walk is a bit far for four year olds). In this part of Oregon you can drive on the beach though, which helps guarantee you an exclusive spot. The kitchen and large open family room make for a very nice gathering area. Playing foosball and ping-pong and pool is also nice (once the kids go to bed). We would definitely return to this house for a future beach stay, hopefully for a few days longer this time :)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

As a large party (adults & teenagers), we found the property to be exactly what we were looking for. The house was clean, the owner professional, and the countless available activities inside and out were awesome. It's clear that the owner filled the house with entertainment for all ages. We especially appreciated the sauna, the well stocked kitchen, and the two large dinning tables that were perfect for board games. We highly recommend this property and its perfect location on a private lake. Re: the previous review, the owner has simple rules to follow which include tying up the boats (it was a little breezy) and removing shoes at the front door. If these rules are followed, you will not have any issues and just as our security deposit (in-full) was refunded, your shall be as well. Thanks Mo for a wonderful stay.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

The house is lovely and clean, the location is great, the owner seemed professional. The problems started when we checked out. I was held responsible for the boats for several days after we checked out, receiving a call 3 days later saying one of the boats was gone. The house has off-white carpeting, not a good idea for a vacation home that advertises to families. The beach is difficult to get to-it's not a short walk! In addition to the non-refundable cleaning deposit I had already paid, the owner took over half of the refundable security deposit when we checked out. I would not recommend this rental to friends or family.Owner response: Within the short time that we have placed our house for rental we have many good reviews. It is unfortunate that when a guest does not follow the simple rental agreement, it results in an unjust bad review now a days. We care about our house and are very attentive owners. We have made every effort to fill our house with lots of activities for families to have fun and enjoy the Oregon coast. We have a no shoes policy in the house as not to track sand and dirt. There are six pathways to the beach, from our house the closest one is about a 10-15 minute leisurely walk. The non-refundable cleaning deposit is standard for all rental properties in the area (our cleaning crew inspects and cleans thoroughly before and after each guest). In this case, more than half of the refundable security deposit were returned in less than 7 days, the rest went towards extra cleaning(food dye), carpet cleaning, booking fee(credit card fee from website), and retrieving the boat that was found across the lake. Due to occasional high winds at Oregon coast we have the boats secured. We ask our guests to leave the house in the same condition as when they checked in.

Wow we saw so many deer and elk. The lake was lots of fun and I love the ocean, this place is nothing like Peugent Sound. Love, Jack from Seattle. Had a lot of fun on the lake using the canoe and the dock. Ben You have a beautiful place here, the best of 2 worlds, we paddleed the canoe all of the way to the bridge and back. Wish we had had a little more sunshine! Thank you, Deanne Had fun playing on the dock and riding down the beach. This is perfect playing house. Thanks for letting us stay. Alex B. I like the pool and ping pong. Everything about the lake & I like my bed. P.S. me and my aunt went canoeing to the bridge. Annie B. Thank you so much for allowing us to rent this house. I loved the location on the lake and how it was a bike ride away from the beach. i loved the floating dock! It was so much fun to jump off of. i loved being able to take the canoe out and tour the lake. The house was well equiped with everything to make this vacation great. The pool table was great for small games. The ping pong table was perfect for a family ping pong tournament!(which I won). Again thank you so much for allowing us to rent this house. About the owner: We like to get away and enjoy our quiet beach home which is located in a gated community called 'Surf Pines' in city of Gearhart. There are 17 homes on the lake and each parcel is one acre. We have our home fenced and the back yard faces Sunset Lake. It can't get any better than that. We decided to open our home to other families and share this paradise and all its amenities. Our boys usually bring a friend each and it's a fun time for everyone. We hope you will enjoy our vacation home and come back to visit often and tell your friends and families.
Why the Owner Chose Gearhart:
My wife and I visited Oregon Coast from Newport to Astoria and fell in love with Gearhart and Surf Pines gated community.
Our home is a no shoe, no smoking and no pets. We receive a lot of bookings since many of our guests have allergies and they can not stay at a pet friendly home. So, if you have pets and wanting to bring them with you, or friends that are have pets and want to visit you, this is not the right home to rent.
If your family enjoys deep sea fishing, City of Warrenton has charter fishing boats depending on the season can take your party out fishing. There are two golf courses within a mile from the house. There is a 18 hole Golf Course at Gearhart Golf Course and 9 hole Golf at The Highlands Golf Course. My son and I went for Sturgeon fishing and each of us got a Sturgeon about 5 feet long.
We are only 4 miles away from Seaside where you can spend your time shopping, playing miniature golf, bumper cars, tilt -a -whirl, and let’s not forget the outlet malls. Also city of Astoria is only 5 miles north of us and you must see the famous Astoria Column. You can also visit where the famous movies Kindergarten Cop and The Goonies were filmed.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We call it, ”Ultimate Beach Vacation Home” and there is a reason for that!
A private gated community with one acre parcel and it’s right on the lake. A 5 passenger paddle boat, 17 foot aluminum canoe, 12 foot fishing boat. A vacation can’t get any better that that and did I mention for those who want to stay at the house, there is a Swedish Sauna, a professional pool table, PlayStation ll, Foosball table, ping pong and the amenities go on and on……
There is a Costco, Fred Myer, Subway, and a new Taco Bell about a mile away or if you’re a good fisherman, catch you dinner right off the lake.
