Luxurious 3-Level Chalet Nestled in the Pines of the Sierras

We’re ready to share a little piece of paradise with you.
Be sure to check out the quick, 3-minute video tour of the cabin by clicking on the 'Video' tab. For many additional photos of the chalet in use and its history, click the link for 'more information' just below the rate card.
Relax and make our place yours for the length of time you wish to stay. And we’d like you to experience the holidays with your family and friends amongst the redwoods, attend weekend concerts at the local wineries, take a walk with your dogs up the hill right alongside, ski on the slopes of Bear Valley, visit some of the nearby caves, walk amongst the Sequoias at Big Trees State Park, and shop or wine taste in the quaint town of Murphys.
And when you return to this chalet in the woods, you can relax on the deck and look out into the forest, listen to the birds, have a glass of wine or hot cocoa, read a good book, or just sit in the quietude.
We want you to build lasting memories with your loved ones, including the four-legged ones, just as we have done over the years. Your chalet will sleep 12 people comfortably, enough for 2-3 families. Your group will certainly enjoy the deck in the warm weather for barbeques and for sitting around the gas fire pit during the cooler weather.
Cooking a meal in our well-equipped spacious hickory cabinet kitchen while listening to music from our Bose stereo system -- equipped with wireless music streaming from your iTunes library (or directly from your iPod or other device) -- will be another enjoyable activity for your large gathering. However, if you want to leave the cooking behind, there are several wonderful restaurants within a 2 mile radius. Snowshoe Brewery, Sarafina’s Italian Restaurant, Simply Delicious, and Susie’s Café are our favorites. You will not be disappointed.
We want your children to enjoy themselves as well, without the worries of accidents or mishaps. The lower level entertainment room serves this purpose well. It is equipped with board games, puzzles, xBox 360 with games, an ample DVD selection that can be watched on a large screen HDTV. This room also has 2 futons that convert into comfortable queen sized beds and there is floor space for sleeping bags -- a great choice for a kid slumber party!
And please, don’t be left behind due to unfinished work that needs to be done. You are equipped with wifi, printer, desk, and other office essentials. Your office in the Sierras is located in the loft area, so while you are at your desk, you can look out the window and enjoy the Redwood trees or listen to the birds. Nice!
We want your mountain getaway to be an experience that will stay with you for a long while, an experience that will bring you back again and again to revisit your favorite restaurant, to enjoy “your new piece of paradise” in a different season, to share with more of your loved ones.
Relax and enjoy.

We had a wonderful time at your beautiful cabin in Arnold while celebrating my Mom's 70th birthday. We developed a funny story as to why my Mom and Dad had to go to the cabin, needless to say my Mom was very surprised when we all yelled surprise...Happy Birthday! The cabin was clean, well appointed and very welcoming. We had a total of 20 people for dinner with plenty of room. The kids enjoyed hanging out downstairs playing games and watching movies while the adults sat out by the fire. Others relaxed on the big comfy couches and chatted. The only bummer was that I broke my ankle on Sunday, luckily the bedroom on the main floor worked out perfect. The house-keeper is really nice. I left my favorite baking sheet at the cabin and she was kind enough to drop it by my parents who live in Arnold (Excellent customer service). We will rent your amazing cabin again...ThanksRecommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, sightseeing.

We loved the house, we had small children (and a couple of teenagers) in a large family group and everyone was comfortable and happy. The big wonderful kitchen was so easy to work in and even though there was no snow, we enjoyed the woods around the house. thank you again for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, families with young children.

My husband and I and all of our children and grandchildren stayed at this wonderful home for 3 nights. It was more than what we expected. It is a perfect place for a family of any size to stay. It snowed the day we arrived and were able to sled right behind the house. We didn't have to leave at all. The kids ages 2, 4 and 7 loved the snow and the sledding. Everything we needed to cook with was available. The only thing we should have accomplished that first night was to shovel off the steps. Because we didn't do this, it was quite slippery going up and down. We survived and no one fell :) . If you would like a great family place to stay, this is the one! Can't wait to go back!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We had six teemage girls and three moms. The accomadations were perfect. This cabin could easily and privately accomadate three couples and 8 children. The kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans, dishes etc. The bathrooms had plenty of towels and hand soap. We needed to purchase toilet paper. The beds were comfortable and we had plenty of blankets. The cabin was clean and ready for us to enjoy! Finding the cabin was a challenge. It was dark and the turns were not well marked. The roads do not appear correctly on a GPS. If there is snow on the ground you will need chains to get from the main road/highway to the cabin. The roads up to the cabin are steep and not well maintained. We visited Big Trees State Park. The local IGA was very convenient. We did not visit any other local stores as we brought all our food with us. The wifi was great! Lots of books to enjoy and comfy couches to relax on. The pictures of the cabin are very accurate and I would highly recommend using this cabin for family get aways in either cold or warm weather. The cabin has a visitor book that is very fun to read! We had a great time and look forward to going back next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

When choosing a place for our large family gathering to celebrate a milestone birthday, I proceeded based on the great reviews and amenities. All aspects exceeded our expectations and we had a truly wonderful time here. It is very comfortable; with 3 levels it is large enough for a lot of people (we had 13) and doesn't feel crowded. It is in a great location, very quiet and the view of the forest is beautiful. Easy access to Columbia and Big Trees State Parks (our choices..there are many others). We also recommend Bristol's - great place for Sunday brunch before heading home. Thanks to the owners for sharing this gorgeous chalet with vacationers!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with young children, sightseeing.

I haven't been to Arnold in a a while and was looking for a vacation rental when I spotted this one online. The whole expereince was great! The owner responded to me right away and was very accomadating. The cabin is just how it looks in the pictures and is located at the end of a street so it was really quiet. The only bad part was that my three nights went by too quickly and I had to go home. I will definately rent this place again and am already trying to figure when I can go back. Thank you for everything!Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, families with teenagers, girls getaway, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: My wife Beatrice and I finally married in 2001 at the age of 40 and 41, respectively, the first time for each of us. Beatrice is a school teacher and I'm a writer and entrepreneur. She had a number of school teacher friends with vacation homes. most of them, in Arnold, CA. She set her sites on getting one and we finally did. If you've looked at the supplemental photos at the added link provided then you will see that this cabin holds a special place in our lives and has a history. After a 1 1/2 year dispute with the seller, we finally acquired the property in early 2002 only to experience a fire only six week later. The rebuild took nearly two years. We intend to do more international traveling in the years to come and so recently decided to begin sharing with others -- and their friends, families and pets -- the same wonderful experience we've had over the last 10 years.
Why the Owner Chose Arnold:
We live in the south of the San Francisco Bay Area and unlike places like Tahoe or Napa, Arnold is accessible in under a 3 hour drive. This makes a 2-night weekend truly doable.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
We discovered over time all that there is to see and do here. Mostly, we like to just enjoy the cabin itself as it's designed for that, the nice Big Trees market being only five minutes away and we love to relax with drinks and cook, and we love to invite friends and family.
But there is so much to do. We can go up the mountain 20 minutes and enjoy Bear Valley, the High Sierra, numerous lakes and streams or, we can go down the mountain 15 minutes and enjoy the historic gold town of Murphys with its many antique shops and wine tasting rooms.
We can go to Sonora, Angels Camp, Columbia, or find a hiking trail. We can go to the actual vineyards. We can see top artists and groups from the 60s to present, entertaining at the Ironstone Vineyards amphitheater 15 minutes away in Murphys.
In the beginning we thought we were buying a getaway vacation home and in the end, discovered we've bought into a wonderful package that has only gotten better and better over the years.
