My old college roommates and I try to get together every two to three years for a small reunion and like to rotate where we go in the country. We are all spread out, so this takes us lots of places. This year was my turn to pick, so I chose Newport (where I grew up). We were able to get this house and it was perfect because we each got our own room. The house practically has its own paved beach trail – very convenient to get down to the beach. And my friends and I pretty much walked anywhere we wanted to go; there are MANY more great restaurants in the Nye Beach area than I remembered, so we were set for breakfast, lunch and dinner… even though the house had a well equipped kitchen. It’s not fancy, but it was a perfect homebase for our last reunion. It is close to lots of things, has great beach access, and was a clean and comfortable place to hang out and catch up with old friends. I'll definitely stay here again.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, families with teenagers.

My family has been renting this house for over 20 years. It's been a wonderful place to hold our family reunions. It's an older beach house that is very clean and has been kept up. During our most recent stay, we noticed a new paint color, sofa and carpet. Some years we have had more family members come with us and have rented rooms at The Whaler Motel -- which is across the street and manages the house. The beach house makes a perfect home base for our family meals. The house is close to a nice paved path that makes it easy for everyone in our family to get down to the beach. My kids also like that they can use the Whaler's swimming pool when we stay at the beach house. Overall, this house fits our family, is a good value and has a great view of the ocean from the living room.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.
