The house was really nice and the acreage is gorgeous. The amenities are great, no problems with any appliances or utilities. We hiked on the path on the property, and then off the property to Pleasantville Lake, both were really nice. The only difficulty is in finding the actual house once you get to the driveway, but we spoke to the overseer and they plan on giving more detail in the house description. I would highly recommend this property if you enjoy getting away from it all and enjoy nature!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

My wife and I could not have been more pleased with our choice to spend a weekend here. The house was fantastic! Very clean, the bed was comfortable and the house was nicely equipped with dishes, pots, pans and other kitchen utensils for those who want to cook meals during their stay. It was nice to have the satellite television and the wi-fi was easy to connect to and worked well for the small amount of time I used it. The house was cozy and comfortable for the two of us, but with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms it can comfortably accommodate larger parties as well. The property is really beautiful! It is fairly secluded. We had been in the house for less than an hour when my wife spotted a wild turkey out in the yard. Saturday morning I stepped outside to enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck and surprised a couple of deer who were grazing on the lawn. As I was watching them I spotted half a dozen turkeys down by the pond. We scared a couple more deer off of the lawn when we returned to the house late in the afternoon. The house is a ranch style and the north end of the house is basically made up of windows, which lets anyone in the open greatroom/kitchen area soak in the amazing view looking out for miles across the valley. You just can't get tired of that view! Outside, there is a nice deck with lovely overhanging vines, a porch swing and a set of deck chairs. There is a fire ring with a supply of firewood on hand. There is a large sloping yard that would probably be great for sledding if you went there in winter. We went in the middle of October and I think the fall foliage was at the peak of its beautiful display of colors. I travelled through the area a week later and noticed that those trees that had not already dropped their leaves had shifted to darker shades of red and brown. The location is very convenient for those who are going to visit the Mohican state park and forest. It is only a few miles away with only a handful of turns to make before you are in the park. In fact if you cycle regularly+want to go and use the bicycle trails in the park, I think you could just ride your bike from the house and leave the car behind. The city of Loudenville was not far away, with several options for dining or shopping for any items you might have forgotten to pack. The caretakers were very friendly and helpful when we arrived by giving us some suggestions of things to do and see during our visit. We loved our time there and look forward to returning in the future!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

I can definitely repeat what was said in all the previous reviews! The setting is beautiful and quiet. For those traveling with relatives, the bedroom layout is great with the master at one end, the kitchen and living areas at the other. So everyone can have their space in the evening. We especially liked the wisteria arbor area for relaxation. The fishing pond even provided a monster cat fish, some bass and bluegill--all back in the pond to be caught again. Saw deer, racoons, turkeys. The photos are accurate, but cannot truly show the wonderful view over the valley. We used the Meijer store in Mansfield as a grocery stop before we arrived and appreciated the fruit bowl left for us in the kitchen. Had an elegant dinner one night at the Malabar Farm Inn--very good. This rental is a great place to reconnect with nature.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children.

We shouldn't have come because it meant we had to leave this beautiful property. We all sat outside on the covered patio and kept wishing we could have spent more time at this lovery home. You will NOT be disappointed with any aspect of this rental. You definitely get more than you expected as soon as you enter the property. The house is amazing and we simply can't say enough about how well stocked it is with everything you need to enjoy your stay. The beds are comfortable, we loved the outdoors, and having so much privacy was wonderful. Our only question is "When can we come back?".Keeping this property at the top of our list as a "must" to return. I almost hate to write such a rave review because it means we'll need to be planning our next visit extra early so that it's available the next time we're looking to be in the area. Thanks for your follow-up call Carrie - sorry we didn't get to meet. You do an excellent job at keeping the house impeccably clean and stocked with everything we could have needed. We were in town for a family wedding and this couldn't have worked out better for us as far as location. We are from the flatlands of Ohio and found the scenery at the cabin and the rolling hills to be such an awesome change for us. Thanks again for everything....we will be bragging up the house and certainly looking forward to a chance to return.Terry, thanks for your return messages, and I did bring an iron and a miniature ironing board....however, we found both at the house....you don't know how well your guests are taken care of.....LOL!! If it wasn't there before, it is now. Don't think twice about whether you're making the right decision to stay here....you're only mistake would be NOT to book this property. I guarantee you won't be disappointed. I don't usually write reviews, but certainly do take time to read them....so I hope I convinced you that you don't want to miss a chance to enjoy a visit here.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our only criticism was that the pictures didn't do the property justice...it was nicer and more beautiful than we expected! Great place to stay with kids! The extensive grounds and the pond were a HUGE hit with kids. They even got to do a little fishing, and were super proud to each catch a small fish! The caretaker was very attentive. The house was well-kept, and we were so impressed by how well stocked the kitchen was! We were easily able to prepare meals for our two families. The view was breathtaking, and the peace and quiet of the place very restoring! It was a perfect setting for our two families to meet, adults to visit, and kids to play!Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Photos don't do this home justice! We just spent a thoroughly relaxing weekend at this home, and we would love to come back again! It is a very secluded and private home to get away and enjoy. The home is very clean, and the details are very well thought out and comfortable. I would have to say my favorite part is the large wall of window from the living and dining room looking out at a huge valley and woods! Very beautiful! The living room is very comfortable and cozy. A spacious kitchen with everything we needed. Even a bowl of fruit to welcome us! Owners were very nice people to work with. Also, the area is a very nice place to drive around or walk around and enjoy the scenery. I never normally leave reviews, but felt that this home was beyond special!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I met our two sons and their wives for a Thanksgiving getaway. This property was a halfway point for our sons driving from the east coast and further west. The property was exactly as listed, except that I personally feel that the photos shown online should showcase the stunning view from the huge family room windows. We arrived after dark so it was Thanksgiving morning that we were treated to the spectacular view across the valley. We experienced beautiful weather so we were able to hike and enjoy the expansive "front" lawn. The property was well-maintained and clean. The owner was so helpful prior to our stay. Since we were bringing food to prepare our Thanksgiving meal, we needed to know what kitchen equipment was present to determine what equipment we needed to bring. I emailed questions back and forth with the owner and discovered that we needed to bring very little equipment with us. The kitchen was very complete and preparing our Thanksgiving meal was almost like being in my own kitchen. The layout of the open kitchen, dining area, and family room made it very easy for all of us to be together and talk and yet not get into each other's way. We all made several trips to Mohican State Park to hike, and discovered that by taking the back way, it was only a five minute drive! One afternoon, we drove over to the Ohio Amish area, and enjoyed visiting several cheese shops, craft stores, and driving the back roads filled with Amish carts and Amish residents out in the fields. I would definitely recommend this property to family and friends. Our family decided we definitely want to return in the summer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/8

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: Terry and Diane live in Malvern, PA and work in the HealthCare industry spending most working days in Philadelphia. We love to spend time either at our beach home in New Jersey or at Valley View in Perrysville. These two homes are truly the best of both worlds. Based on our busy work schedules and the on-going children demands we decided to invite our family, friends and guests to enjoy Valley View. We still enjoy visiting the Mohican Valley and try to get back for visits as often as possible.
Why the Owner Chose Perrysville:
Terry is from Perrysville and has most of his family still living in the area. I have fond memories growing up working for the local canoe livery, lodge, ski resort and in my father's business. I began looking for a special property in 2004 and finally found the perfect place - Valley View. I bought it the day I visited the property - it is that special. I hope you enjoy it as much as we do.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
My wife and I enjoy our morning coffee on the porch or in the dining room looking out over the Valley. Most days we spend quiet time reading or taking walks through the woods or down by the pond. We also like to venture to the Amish Country to do some shopping or eating at one of the fantastic Amish restaurants. Our favorite place to have dinner out is definitely Malabar Farms.
