We were surprised to see how nicely this home was decorated and equipped. It was comfortable and felt like home. The location is convenient to restaurants, coffee shops and the unique West Seattle Community. It is a place that I highly recommend and will use again during my next stay in Seattle.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This place was great. This listing was very accurate, but I don't think it does it justice. The living room and dining room are huge and very inviting. The kitchen is small, but when you are in Seattle, a place known for their food, why not enjoy it. We did cook breakfast at the house, so it's not so small that it is not functional. There is so much around to do and enjoy, especially a few blocks away on California Ave. Great bakeries, breweries, and shops to visit. Even though there is not a fenced in yard the neighborhood around the house has plenty of roads to walk my dog. And everything is easily accessible, from the highway to alki beach. I will be back since there is so much to see and do that I couldn't get it all in one trip.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife, two teenage daughters and I stayed at this cute & cozy urban cottage for four nights. Dealing with Laura via email was always prompt and pleasant. Our damage deposit was returned within a couple days of our departure. This cottage is conveniently located (off a busy main street) within walking distance (10 minute) to the Junction area and to bus connections to downtown Seattle. The property itself is an older home but yet it has been maintained well and it is comfortable and clean. The kitchen is extremely small and closed in, but yet it was manageable and we were able to prepare dinner a couple of nights due to it being well stocked. The two bedrooms were very comfortable and the extra bedroom alcove allowed everyone to have their own sleeping area. The one bedroom would benefit from having some sort of dresser/night table to lay items on. Having a sink in each of the bedrooms helped with there being only one bathroom. The front room, which contained the dining room and living room was quite roomy and very comfortable. The welcome basket containing treats and binder with area information was very thoughtful. Also, the bag of delicious local coffee was greatly appreciated. As well, there was even a welcome basket for our Westie, who also enjoyed her stay. The owners are obviously concerned about renters having a pleasant and enjoyable stay, which we did! We would not hesitate to stay at this cozy urban cottage again. Thanks Laura for sharing your home with us.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I rented this adorable cottage while visiting family in West Seattle. Not only is it perfectly located for walking to the Junction Area, but the owners are very good with communication and making sure your stay with them is all you expect and more! The listing is perfectly descriptive and the pictures do not do total justice since the living room area is very large sized. We found a welcome basket of goodies on the table for us which was so very thoughtful! The wi-fi worked perfectly! The house was very clean, linens were more than adequate, and the kitchen, though very small, is reasonably stocked. I baked a cake while there (since I was celebrating my birthday) and was glad I thought ahead to bring my own mixer since I did not find one in the kitchen. However the oven works great and they provide plenty of cookware. I loved that they had a compost bin as well as recycle bin. There are 2 a/c units which kept the whole house quite comfortable on some of the hottest days West Seattle had this summer. It would be nice to have a ceiling fan in the 2 bedrooms - if you have 2 couples renting the house, chances are the bedroom doors may be kept closed for privacy and having a ceiling fan would keep air circulating in the rooms for sleeping. There were 2 small portable fans in the bedrooms but we were the only ones in the house and able to keep all the doors open. The final night we slept with the window open since the heat had subsided and the nights in West Seattle are typically cool. The driveway and parking behind the house would be tight for any large vehicle - however there is street parking available. There's a bar right next door which can get a little loud on weekends - but we didn't find any problems with them, and the owners of the cottage left great info for contacting the bar owner if you encountered any troubles. We ate breakfast and lunch in, and dinner out every night. One night we ate at the Thaitan Restaurant catty-corner from the cottage and found the food plentiful, very tasty, and a great bargain. Another night we walked down near the Junction to the Elliott Bay Pub which had lots of variety. After returning home, the owners returned our deposit quite timely. We are definitely staying here when we visit our family again. The price is right, the location is perfect and the cottage is extremely comfortable! Thanks to owners for helping to make my birthday celebration in West Seattle a fabulous one!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The location of the cottage is great, within walking distance of West Seattle Junction shops, restaurants and the awesome C&P coffee shop. It's close to the West Seattle Bridge so it is minutes to downtown and the major roadways. It was a little cramped with 4 adults and 2 kids but we managed. The kitchen is small so if you like to cook like we do, it can be a challenge. It was great to have internet access. Lots of fluffy bath towels! And it was really nice having a washer and dryer.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

The Full Moon Cottage is a lovely property located in West Seattle junction, which is a fun and cosmopolitan area full of great restaurants and shops. The bed was comfortable (we were a party of two), the house was very well kept, clean and kitted-out with equipment and there is room for up to 6 people to sleep (two will have to sleep in bunk beds). Places to eat within literally thirty seconds walk and pharmacy and grocery stores within 5 mins either way. Bus stop (22 or 54 bus) to downtown about 1 minute's walk away and very convenient (trip takes about 15-20 mins and we used it a lot despite having a hire car - saves the hassle of downtown traffic so if you're planning to just stay in the city you may not need a car). Straightforward access to freeways and roads to out of town attractions (and 20 mins drive from airport). California Ave is a main road but you can't hear it in the bedrooms, which are located towards the back of the house. Washer and dryer in the basement. Property can get quite hot in the summer but an extra fan or two would solve that (notified the owners about this). Owners were friendly and helpful and very prompt with transactions and enquiries - important for peace of mind. Beach is 10 min walk down the hill and Lincoln Park (with its nesting Bald Eagles) about 20 mins walk south. Glad we stayed in West Seattle - more chilled out than downtown and still loads to do and see - and this property was a great place to stay.Did you find this review helpful? This was our first experience with HomeAway and it was great! The Full Moon Cottage was everything we hoped for and exactly as advertised. We could not have found better accomodations for such a reasonable price. We loved the feel of being at home while visiting the beautiful city of Seattle. Not only was the Cottage itself very comfortable and perfect for our needs, but the neighborhood and surrounding area had a great atmosphere and feel. We felt comfortable walking the streets with our family and felt completely safe. We will definitely use HomeAway again when we travel and the next time we visit Seattle we hope the Full Moon Cottage is available.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We really loved the location of this cottage in West Seattle as it was walking distance from some great restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and pubs. It was easy to get to downtown Seattle via a bus and the water taxi (total cost $8/person round trip) which offered great views of the harbor and city. The cottage itself was very nice, with plenty of space for our party of three. Having a sink in each bedroom helped alleviate the need for a second bathroom when everyone is trying to get ready in the morning. The kitchen was well stocked with all of the dishes we would need. There were instructions for logging into the wifi, though we did have some issues connecting multiple devices at the same time (our group had 2 iPad users). I would certainly recommend this property if you enjoy staying in a walkable area with friendly locals (seriously, the folks at Bakery Nouveau were incredibly helpful offering suggestions on things to do, places to eat and the best way to get around) but also want easy access to the more touristy areas of the city.Did you find this review helpful? The homeowners were really good to work with. We booked this house as well as one of their other rental properties (The Moonlight Guesthouse) because we had a large group that came into town from all over to celebrate a friend's wedding. The homeowners helped us nail down all of the details and worked with our schedules to help us figure out the most cost effective route for renting both places. All of the people that stayed at the house said they were really happy we did it and were really happy with the space that it provided everyone compared to getting rooms at a hotel. We loved the location of this house as the neighborhood was really easy to get in/out of. There were some great restaurants within walking distance that we really liked (Easy Street for breakfast, Great Harvest for yummy bread, and Elliot's Bay for some good Seattle brews). We loved the access to the freeways as we did a lot of driving while we were in town. The house is right off a main road so you will hear traffic constantly. That didn't bother us because we were not in the house that frequently. I think you are definitely taking a risk when you book something off the internet based upon pictures, but the homeowners customer service was outstanding and I would completely recommend their homes because they are true to their word and advertisements!Did you find this review helpful? We stayed at the Full Moon Cottage for four nights. We thought it was a good value. The decor was colorful and tasteful, the kitchen fully stocked and the towels and linens high quality. The layout is a little weird -- there are two bedrooms, each of which have sinks, and a kind of curtained alcove the same size as the galley kitchen with bunk beds -- but it worked for us. The off street parking is another plus. I would only stay here if I had a car -- West Seattle is about 15 or 20 minutes from most attractions. However, the neighborhood had everything we needed -- coffee shops, grocery stores, restaurants -- and was convenient to the West Seattle Bridge. The cottage is still undergoing improvements. The wifi didn't work while we were there, which was inconvenient. There were steep stairs to the basement right near the back door, which accesses the parking, and I felt that was a bit dangerous. I'm hoping they put a door on soon. The heat worked great, and that was a good thing because it is an old cottage and not well insulated, especially around the doors. Nonetheless, as we turn down the heat at night, we had to ask for extra blankets because the blankets in the main bedrooms were too thin for our comfort. The owner delivered them promptly. Again, for the money and our needs, we thought it was a great place to stay for the price.Owner response: We appreciate guest feedback, because it really does help us make the cottage more pleasant for future guests. Since this group stayed, we have fixed the wifi, added warmer bedding, and put a door at the top of the basement stairs. Insulation will be our fall project :-)

Thank you Laura for the wonderful accommodations. The Cottage was very clean and comfortable. It was so convenient for grocery shopping and getting around. We had plenty room for our morning breakfast and a nice living area to relax in at the end of the day. We appreciate your advice on the different dining facilities in the area we had some excellent meals. We also bought some Lighthouse coffee beans to take home from the C&P coffee shop a block away. We were so comfortable and plan to make return visits. Thank you, Anthony & Carol TartolDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I would highly recommend this property, especially for a family gathering place in the Seattle area. Everything was very clean, the kitchen had necessary dishes, pots, etc, and there were clear instructions on using the wi-fi and cable television/DVD player. There are 2 bedrooms with very comfortable queen beds, and in addition 2 bunk beds. The living/dining area is perfect for visiting and relaxing. An added bonus for us was that this property is pet friendly, and I appreciate owner's policy of a pet deposit (rather than an additional non-refundable pet fee). We enjoyed the Thai restaurant across the street (so convenient!) and also the proximity of bakeries, grocery stores, and a drug store. Because we visited in winter, we didn't explore Alki Beach very much, but found it charming and enjoyed the spectacular views of downtown Seattle. The owner handled the business side of things very professionally, and our cleaning/pet deposits were refunded promptly.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We really njoyed our stay at the cottage. Wonderful location, we walked to everything. Kitchen is quite small, but works well. The beds were comfy, and the bunk beds were located in the hallway, so no need to "share" a bedroom. Nice furnishings and layout. We had plenty of room, with 5 adults: 2 couples each took a bedroom, and I slept in the bunkbed. A nice thing was that each bedroom also had its own sink, and the extra bonus to find a place that was dog-friendly. Easy check-in and check out. If you need a sweet place to stay in West Seattle and want a great location, this is it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway.

This lovely cottage provided us with a great base to stay local to family. The cottage had all the amenities we needed - and was even decorated with some pretty Christmas decorations :-) The owner family ensured we were welcomed and had all that we needed, with any queries answered promptly via email prior to our arrival. The cottage was well cleaned and maintained, and appeared just as the photos and description provided online. The cupboard of games was great for the quieter resting times. A good festive holiday week. Thank youDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Full Moon Cottage felt like home the moment we pulled up outside...the property is newly renovated, gorgeously decorated, and extremely clean. The front room is light and spacious during the day and in the evening, with the help of the fireplace, and the TV/DVD, it transforms into a cozy family nook. The kitchen had all the utensils, pots, pans, etc, that we needed to cook for six people, there was also a coffee maker and a toaster. The kitchen was thoughtfully stocked with essentials (coffee, condiments, dish soap, trash bags, cleaning materials, etc); the bathroom with hand soap and other toiletries; and the washer/dryer in the basement came with detergent and fabric softener sheets. The beds were all made up with fresh linens, and there were ample fluffy towels (with even more in the closet). We enjoyed sitting on the front porch and relaxing in the sunshine (Yes! There was sunshine in West Seattle!). Or taking advantage of the WIFI to surf the internet on our laptop. The private, off street parking at the back of the cottage was very convenient and a great bonus. Full Moon Cottage is only two blocks from a large Rite Aid pharmacy, and there is a multitude of quality restaurants and retail stores (only a five minute walk away), which are known locally as 'The Junction'. There is a Thai restaurant and pizza take out across the street, and two blocks down is a charming coffee shop, with patio seating out back (our family enjoyed their vegan donuts!). The whole neighborhood was a great place to walk around and explore, with fabulous views over Puget Sound. Nearby Supermarkets include Safeway and QFC (three minute drive). The picturesque Alki Beach is only about a 10 minute drive away. There are bus stops just outside the cottage with regular services to downtown Seattle, and to the water ferry. So a car would not be essential by any means. Laura and Joe are friendly, gracious, and attentive hosts who went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable throughout our stay. Our reservation process was smooth and our deposit was refunded within hours. Full Moon Cottage was the perfect place for our family vacation and when we return to Seattle we will definitely be staying there again! It was extremely affordable and completely comfortable - quite literally, it was a home away from home.
