Great place to stay
Great place to stay
I was in Maui to attend a family wedding for a week. This property was perfect for me. The bed is amazingly comfortable. The room was clean, and neat. Wifi was very strong. The keyless entry was awesome since I didn't need a key, just a code to remember. My Dad stayed in a condo across the way and locked himself out of his room so not having to worry about it was cool. Both the room and bathroom has ceiling fans which kept the condo cool throughout. The condo sits next to the property entrance but I never heard a thing at night time. Overall, a great place to stay.

Owner response: Thanks for your kind words, Adam. We were at the condo this summer also--first time ever during that time of year. Like you, we were very comfortable with the ceiling fans and open windows. Though we have AC in every room, we never used it. Fresh Hawaiian air is wonderful!!!
Great studio condo
Great studio condo
We had a lovely time staying here! Great price, studio was a perfect size for us as most time was spent out on the beach/sightseeing anyway. So nice to have the kitchenette in the condo and the shared BBQs right across the parking lot for meals. Loved having a/c, laundry, a really nice lanai looking out on a garden/forest area, keyless entry, and it was such a treat to have it stocked with beach gear ie snorkel stuff, beach chairs, mats, towels, umbrella and boogie boards. Owner was very friendly and responded to all of my emails and questions very quickly.

An OK stay in Maui
An OK stay in Maui
We stayed for 3 nights in February and the location of the condo is very good, you can easily access the locals beaches and shops. We stayed in the studio which had a lovely comfortable bed, a very small kitchen area and good air con. There is also a washing machine and dryer in the cupboard on the balcony, use of this is shared with the one bedroom accommodation next door. The in room wifi connection was fast and reliable. In the large cupboard there are paddle boards, snorkels and beach chairs available for use together with beach towels in the bathroom. The keyless entry system is very good as you don't have to worry about losing keys when you go to the beach. We enjoyed our stay at this accommodation however, there were a few things to note: - the overall location is very good however, the position of the studio is right next to the main resort entrance so you can get some traffic noise. Also the sprinklers come on around midnight and did wake us up - the kitchen area is very small and the kitchen sink is actually the bathroom sink too - I think the cleaning could have been improved, an old bar of soap obviously used by the previous occupants was left in the shower and the bedroom carpet is a bit stained - there should be a parking permit in the room to display on your car, there was no permit for us and we had a parking notice left on our car (as we weren't aware one was required), fortunately the office was open so we were able to obtain a permit. All in all our stay was OK but not the best accommodation we have had in Maui. I think the cleaning fee should be decreased as this didn't seem very good value for money.

Owner response: We're glad you enjoyed your stay and mentioned some of the amenities offered. A few thoughts though. The studio is advertised as a studio with a kitchenette, not a full kitchen. Unfortunately our regular cleaner was unavailable before your visit and we had to hire a substitute cleaning service--hence the bar of soap left and lack of parking permit which our cleaner regularly puts out for guests. The studio had been occupied without interruption for over two months before your visit. The carpet is a very expensive, very high quality carpet, but it is white and thus subject to soiling, especially when guests don't remove shoes when entering. None of the previous guests wanted a carpet cleaner to come in while they were there. It is cleaned regularly and was cleaned shortly after your visit and is back to its sparkling white color, free of stains.

About the owner: Ralph is a retired pastor who is now Director of Development for a humanitarian aid organization. Janice formerly worked in nursing and insurance; she now cares for their home and their Cavalier King Charles puppy named Cromwell. We both enjoy golf and dancing in our leisure time, Janice also is active in yoga and is a passionate knitter. We have visited most of the major islands and feel Maui offers everything we want in a vacation home. We always enjoy the road to Hana, drives around the north and south sides of the island and people-watching in Lahaina. Most mornings we take the shore walk behind the Walea resorts and look for whales. On our first trip to Maui we discovered Big Beach and that is still our favorite.
Why the Owner Chose Grand Champions:
We had been looking at units in the Kihei area around the Kameole beaches where we had stayed many times in the past. When our real estate agent convinced us to look at this condo, we were sold immediately! We knew the beautiful Wailea development was worth the extra expense. The ability to manage our own rentals via the internet, and a great price brought it within our reach, so we mortgaged our rental properties on the mainland and jumped. We haven't regretted it!! Now when we come to Maui, we feel we are coming home.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Although our ocean view is small, we can still view whale activity from our front lanai and the studio window. The grills & one of the pools are right across the parking lot from our unit, so our food is still hot when we get back to the condo. We love sitting out on the lanai listening to the breeze rustle the bamboo leaves, and sleeping with the doorwall open to the lanai at night. The cathedral ceiling makes the room light and seem bigger than it actually is.
