My husband and I stayed at Sherwood in March of 2012. It was great. Not only is the setting beautiful, but it has a spacious wrap-around deck with a hot tub that is perfect for enjoying the views. We also really enjoyed using the outdoor fire pit for making smores and sitting around a camp fire. The cabin was adorable inside--rustic yet polished and comfortable. We loved the soft bed and the fireplace. Sure, we didn't get cell phone reception up there, but really, isn't that why you go on vacation? Additionally, the area is filled with wonderful hiking trails, and we loved biking along the river, too. It's also quite close to Asheville, so you can easily take a day trip to the city. Overall, this was a great vacation, and we constantly talk about going back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Sherwood cabin is in a lovely location, secluded and beautiful. But the cabin has some serious drawbacks, such that unless addressed, I would suggest going elsewhere. First, the bed on the first floor is simply atrocious and needs to be replaced. The mattress has a giant crater in the center and you will spend all night rolling into it. When you turn onto your side, you can feel the springs. Second, the cabin is not well cleaned. Superficially all the surfaces are fine, but if you happen to put a bag against the wall, it will come away covered in gross stuff. Third, when we arrived after a long day of travel, the hot tub was half full and 65 degrees. In order to get it turned on we had to find the outdoor hose and fill it. Why, you might wonder, did we not just call the property manager? Well, there's no phone or cell coverage. In the event of a problem or even an emergency, there's no way to call for help. Fourth, the gas fireplace needs maintenance, as it doesn't turn on properly some of the time. Some of the burners will light, but not all. However, they continue to emit gas--a fact which we noticed after becoming rather lightheaded. This is quite dangerous, and of course, the result is that you can't use the fireplace.Owner response: We take the upmost care of our property, and from the validation from the other reviews, we are hopeful that any guests that visit the cabin will have a pleasant experience. Our Property Manager ensures that the housekeeping is kept up, and that the furnishings are in the best of condition. We schedule Spring and Fall "Deep Cleanings", and have checked the condition of the mattress - and feel that it's still quite comfy! Thank you for your feedback, we've checked into your concerns and will continue to spot check the cabin to ensure things are kept in order.

This cabin was amamzing!! It was cozy, romantic, secluded. My husband and I sat in the hot tub and watched deer walk around the property, went for walks/hikes (around the town and around the house). The bed was extremely comfortable. I loved the wood details all over the cabin. We love this cabin and will definitely be coming back many times. A few things to know before you arrive and after: 1. Get groceries before you get into the town of Hot Springs-there is not a grocery store only a Dollar Store 2. Read the instruction book on the kitchen table-before trying to start the fire.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We loved the cabin and had a perfect weekend there. The grill and fire pit were great in the evenings and the coziness of the inside was just right for two. The location is private and scenic, which was exactly what we were looking for. We'll definitely book here again! Great cabin!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We loved this cabin, especially its location! It was secluded and private and a great proximity to Hot Springs. Also, it was perfectly cozy and clean and we absolutely hated to leave. The best thing we did in town was eat at the Magnolia Inn - highly recommended! I would have given the cabin 5 stars if it had a bigger bed and fridge, but they are updating the kitchen soon, so that will make it even better. Even still, I'll definitely pick this place again next fall without even thinking about shopping around.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

My husband and I decided to take a trip to the mountains to raft and hike. We were so lucky and happy to find this cabin. Being a last minute trip, we had great response in making reservations. The cabin is secluded on a mountainside. Drive down the mountain and you are in Hot Springs...which I liked because I didn't want to do any cooking!!! We had great food...fun rafting with Huck Finn adventures and loved the hiking trails. Great weekend. The cabin was exceptionally clean and cozy...very relaxing. It would get 5 stars if they had a king bed. I have recommended it already to friends and we look forward to returning in the fall.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

My family and I recently traveled to North Carolina to go whitewater rafting on the French Broad River. I found Sherwood Cabin online and booked it for 2 nights. It was absolutely perfect for us with the queen bed in an alcove downstairs and 2 beds in the loft upstairs. The cabin is in the woods in the mountains and is absolutely beautiful. We found 2 great places in Hot Springs to eat dinner........Iron Horse Station and Smoky Mountain Diner. We really enjoyed our stay and I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone!!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Really enjoyed my stay at your cabin! Quiet, clean, beautifully furnished, and did I mentioned QUIET? Close enough to town to visit the local community and had the best omelet I have ever had at the local diner on Main Street. It had everything I needed and more-wish I could have stayed longer.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Owner info
About the owner: Being a military family, we’ve always wanted a place to call home. After getting married in Hot Springs in June 2009, we fell in love with Sherwood Cabin and had the dream of one day owning a piece of property that just “felt right” to us. After having our daughter join the world in May of 2010, we thought even harder about having somewhere special she could always look forward to visiting and continuing the family legacy of a mountain home. After purchasing this beautiful custom log cabin, we decided we’d like to share the joy it’s brought us with guests when we’re not visiting Hot Springs. We’ve made this home comfortable, warm, and inviting – furnished with everything we need to enjoy our stays. Hopefully it will make your visit one to remember, and a place where you’ll call home for years to come as well. Enjoy! The Flynns
