At the end of the rainbow we designed, built, and completed our French Country style dream house in 2010 called A and H Wildflower Ranch. We have a sunny custom kitchen with lots of counter space and an open floor plan to the main living area and dining area, 2 master bedrooms that have either a patio or balcony, an additional bedroom with attached bathroom, an office, and atrium sun room. There are doors from all rooms leading to the exterior patios and decks that surround our home.
We have an inviting and open floor plan that provides lots of sunlight. The many windows throughout our home allow you to enjoy the spectacular views of Mt. Sopris, the 31 acres of open-space which includes a pond, the Roaring Fork River, as well as the Flattops Wilderness Area north of Glenwood Springs. Not only can you enjoy the views from the interior, but you can also relax outdoors while watching and listening to wildlife, birds, the stream, or consider the night sky from decks and flagstone patios that surround our home. Inside, there are little nooks with cozy spots for relaxing with a cup of coffee or glass of wine and a good book. We have an eclectic collection of books for browsing or reading and an assortment of games. Our custom kitchen has ample room for preparing, cooking, and visiting. Due to our stone and stucco exterior, the house remains comfortably cool even in the heat of summer without a swamp cooler, although we have ceiling fans in many rooms.
We are located halfway between Glenwood Springs and Carbondale. Our neighborhood consists of acreages with most of our neighbors owning horses. This creates a peaceful country feel to our property. Our central location makes this a perfect place to stay allowing you to explore up and down the valleys, no matter your vacation preferences. There is something for everyone here in the heart of the Rockies. This home is quite big, and really 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. It is solidly build with space for gathering and for quiet conversation. It is well furnished and very comfortable. There are deer. We saw a pretty large group right at our window the first evening. We held a small staff retreat there and found everything we needed for cooking and cleaning up. We did have a situation with a running toilet that (unknown to us) was filling up the septic tank. Fortunately the owners are in an apartment that is right on the premises, and things did not get out of control. There is internet, although we saw the note on it only when we left. Not a problem, though, we were on retreat! Also there is no cable (again no problem for us). Our one recommendation: it would be nice to put together a notebook with information for renters. Had we understood the possibility of a running toilet, we would have checked. (Problem was the upstairs master, and even after they told us we thought we were supposed to check the down stairs master.)Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

We had a wonderful time staying in this beautiful home with our family! The property is located at the end of a secluded drive and is seconds away from a road with bike access to Carbondale and Glenwood Springs. The owners were delightful and did everything that they could to ensure that our stay was enjoyable. And, very importantly, the kitchen is stocked with just about everything you could possible need to cook your own meals and even make some yummy muffins. The view from the rear patio areas is absolutely stunning and sipping coffee on the patio in the mornings was simply glorious! Thanks so much to this couple for opening their gorgeous home to us...Recommended for: Tourists without a car, sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.

Enjoyed staying at the ranch. Two families, with children ranging from 7-18, had plenty of space to sleep, shower and hang out. The kitchen provided all essential cooking tools to make dining in a plus. Although our stay was during the warm summer months, the house stayed very cool by keeping the windows opened at night and closed during the day. Cindy was a joy to work with and greeted us upon arrival giving us a tour of the property. The only drawbacks were the TV did not work (which was disappointing during the Olympic games) and the recycling expectations were a bit too much. We were not accustomed to composting so this was a nuisance while vacationing. Overall, great vacation...would recommend to friends.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children.

Our group of 12 (2 families and in-laws) thoroughly enjoyed the coziness and grandeur of the A&H Wildflower Ranch. It was the perfect place to start and end our fun-filled days. The location was ideal as we hiked, rafted, rock-climbed, biked, ran, etc close by. Loved the bedroom sizes, kitchen, patio, living rooms, ... it was very roomy for those who wanted to relax w/a book, play games, do puzzles, watch a movie, take a nap, etc. Definitely would recommend to anyone wanting a relaxing, comfortable, well-stocked beauty of a home close to many attractions.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Our family stayed for a week in July and can't say enough positive things about this beautiful place. We loved that every room had it's own bathroom en suite and the space was architecturally stunning. The location is perfect for a nice and quiet getaway but also close to everything the family needed (the hot springs, adventure park, jeeping, fishing, and hiking. The owners were kind and willing to help with anything we needed. Without any reservation we would recommend this home for a vacation.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.

Our family had our reunion at the End of the Rainbow this June. What a perfect place for adults and children alike!!! Our grandkids got to do things they can never do at home and their Mom and Dad got to go white river rafting and hike to Hanging Lake while Gramma and Papa got to spend a day with the kids. They LOVED the hot springs pool and even hiking to the Maroon Bells. Our next reunion will definitely be held at the End of the Rainbow!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, age 55+, families with young children.

Can't say enough nice things about this place! It was so much lovelier than even the photographs could convey. Absolutely thrilled at the number of bathrooms in the house, and how each bedroom suite had its own bathroom. The house has many windows, with breathtaking views from all of them, and sunshine streaming in from every direction. One awakens to the sound of songbirds, and there is up-close bird watching right outside the kitchen. The owners are lovely people who not only answered all of our questions, but who made themselves available at every level, even volunteering to haul kayaking equipment down to the pond for our use; the youngest member of the party is still talking about it! Close to good golfing, for sure. There are many other activities and attractions available in the Glenwood Springs area, but we found ourselves not wanting to leave the property, as it offered virtually everything we wanted. WE UNEQUIVOCALLY WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PROPERTY ENTHUSIASTICALLY !! Please just take good care of it so the owners will continue to make it available for rental. We can't wait to return next year!Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I stayed here for a weekend in early October and would return in a heartbeat. The house is immaculate and stunning, a perfect alternative to a cramped hotel room. The setting is absolutely beautiful - red canyon walls, Mt. Sopris towering in the background, wildflowers, and sky full of stars. The house is only 10 or 15 minutes from the heart of Glenwood Springs, so its close to a number of activities. Cindy was very responsive and gracious before and during our stay. I couldn't have dreamed up a better place to spend the weekend and my only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.

Our family stayed here this summer and had a wonderful experience!! The house is just beautiful, with all the amenities you would ever need. The views of Mt. Sopris, the Roaring Fork River and the beautiful countryside were breathtaking. The owners were very accomodating and unobtrusive. The house itself is very new, spacious and well designed. The location is a few minutes drive to either Glenwood Springs or Carbondale. This was a far superior option than a chain hotel in town. The outdoor patio and balcony areas are true retreats where we sat, visited and took in the views for hours at a time. You will be very pleased and in awe of this beautiful home and its surroundings.Recommended for: Sightseeing, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: Clay is a designer and builder. Cindy is an art teacher. We love to work, play and enjoy family and friends with our dog Chaco. We spend a lot of time outdoors gardening, hiking, camping, wildlife watching, swimming, kayaking, snow shoeing, cross-country skiing, hunting and star gazing. We have thought about moving, but we love this area with the sunshine and climate too much to seriously consider going elsewhere. We prefer to invite family and friends to come and stay here instead!
Why the Owner Chose Glenwood Springs:
We bought this property in 2006 and designed and built our dream home on the 7 acres. We completed the building in 2010. We fell in love with this property as we walked the open-space and down to the pond and Roaring Fork River. We love the views from this end of the 7 acres. We are outdoor loving people and we have found ourselves within easy distance of a huge diversity of outdoor experiences year round. We are pass holders at the world famous Glenwood Hot Springs and know why the Utes called it Yampah or 'Big Medicine'. We like that we are approximately 10 minutes away.
We placed the house on the edge of the open-space to maximize the views and the water feature. We have a stream running down in front of the south side of the house that provides a wildlife corridor year round. We have a wide variety of birds that live and eat here. You will also enjoy the many species of mammals, such as, fox, deer, elk, bobcat, chipmunk, and rabbit just to name a few, that use this corridor.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We have a trail that circles the whole subdivision. A section of the trail runs alongside the Roaring Fork River where you can walk, run, fish, skip rocks, enjoy watching the blue herons in their rookery, the nesting pair of ospreys, or the elk that winter along the river. There is a pond with a variety of waterfowl depending on the time of year you are here. You can walk, cross-country ski or snowshoe along the trail. In addition, we are 3 miles from the bike trail that follows the old RR tracks up and down the Roaring Fork Valley. This bike trail begins in Glenwood Springs and continues all the way to Aspen.
