Modern-style, three-bedrooms villa in Playa Hermosa with private pool. This home is perfect for friends or family gatherings or for accommodating an endless string of visitors; inevitable when you live in paradise! The house is a 1150-square-meter lot encompassing 3 bedrooms with 3.5 bathrooms. The master room has a Jacuzzi and a personal balcony and the pool will make you feel as enjoying a day at the spa! You can keep your car safe at the garage. Located in a small community in Playa Hermosa called Opera Salvaje, this home was built taking into account the surrounding environment. With an open floor plan, this house is built to accommodate the tropical breezes that blow in from the ocean. Nestled near the foot of a mountain and overlooking a valley, the location of this home is ideal! The landscaping completes this scenario with many variations of the beautiful tropical plants indigenous to Costa Rica. The Area: Playa Hermosa is located five minutes South of Jaco, and approximately one hour from San Jose International Airport. Playa Hermosa is completely different from Jaco; it is a smaller town, much quieter and tranquil. The house is half mile from Playa Hermosa a world famous break for surfing. Everyday you will see people, both young and old, heading down to catch, what some say, one the most consistent waves in the world. Conversely, Jaco is larger, has many restaurants and bars, as well as stores that offer just about anything you should need. The community where the house is located is named Opera Salvaje, which in english means - Wild Opera. It was named after the birds you hear in the mornings - it is like listening to a wild opera. The neighborhood is comprised of Americans, Europeans, Canadians and Costa Ricans. The majority of homeowners live here full time and enjoy a healthy social environment. The water system is brought from a natural spring well, which is far superior to the public water system.

My family and I rented "Casa Alegre" for an extended period between 2010 and 2011. I have been living in Costa Rica for 13 years and was very selective in choosing this house. What attracted me at first was being in the neighborhood of "Opera Salvaje" which is a gated community of young professionals, surfers, ex-pats and early retirees. The neighborhood is very safe, attractive, well located, and pleasant to walk around due to the good roads, and flowing gardens, bird life and non-steep topography (like a lot of the surrounding mountain property). We loved the house itself, as the garage (connected to the house) is really practical for getting in and out while it's raining, all the rooms are large, the kitchen is modern and spacious and the outdoor living area in the back (facing the pool) was our favorite part of the house. Also, the back yard and pool are amazing and have a nice combination of morning sun and afternoon shade. My wife really appreciated the upstairs master suite (or the captains quarters as I called it), as it has a large, open-air, walk-in closet, a jacuzzi and a private terrace. My only 'gripe' was that the electricity would go off here and there, but this is something more common to the area rather than specific to the house or neighborhood. That said, have some candles and flashlights handy. Lastly, the location and proximity were of critical importance, as I wanted to be close to the surf of Playa Hermosa (3 min drive) and the town of Jaco (as I worked there every day) which was just 10 mins away. In short, loved the house and the property, the land lord is great guy and I would highly recommend it for long term or short term vacation stays.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, pet owners, age 55+, families with young children, adventure seekers.
