This cabin was built in 1902 in the historic mining town of Victor, Colorado, just one hour outside of Colorado Springs, nestled in the Rocky Mountains, with spectacular views from every window! There are 2 bedrooms and a loft, with two queen beds and two twin beds, one futon, and one sofa sleeper. One of the bathrooms has an old-fashioned clawfoot tub and the other has a shower. There is a small courtyard with a propane grill for you to barbecue, and two separate little sunrooms.
This cabin comes equipped with a washer and dryer and a 42' flat-screen TV with Direct TV satellite service. Did I mention the views of the mountains from evey window are spectacular!?
Go gambling in nearby Cripple Creek, visit the Mollie Kathleen Mine, or shop the antique stores (Nana's Attic, the Isis and Splendid Treasures) or the Victor Trading Company, where they make handmade brooms, candles, cookie cutters, postcards, and other items with old-fashioned equipment. You can hike through several trails in the Rocky Mountains, visit the local State Park, or go fishing at the Skagway or 11-Mile Reservoirs. Tour the High Spice Alpaca Ranch on 4-Mile Drive or the Stage Stop Llama Ranch on County Road 1 in Florissant. There is also the historic Hornbeck homestead and the Florissant Fossil beds to see there! Horseback riding and river rafting down the Arkansas River is one hour away in Canon City, as well as the amazing Royal Gorge, and the antique shops in Florence are just a little further. The ski resort of Breckenridge is 1 1/2 hours away and the drive is beautiful! The North Pole Amusement Park, Garden of the Gods, Cave of the Winds, Prehistoric Dinosaur exhibit and the Off-Leash Dog Park are all on the way to Colorado Springs down Hwy 67.
There is too much to do and see! Easy access in all directions. **Two of the roads toward Canon City are recommended only for four-wheel drive vehicles (Phantom Canyon and Shelf Roads), as is the Gold Camp Road toward Colorado Springs. However, the scenery is gorgeous along these roads! Attend Donkey Derby Days in June, Gold Rush Days in July, or Victor Celebrates the Arts on Labor Day Weekend.

Heater did not work. Not suitable for those with disabilities or elderly. Housekeeping had not visited prior to our arrival, garage running over in can. Had to make beds ourselves, we left things cleaner than we found them. Had to vacumn on arrival, owner did not respond to email about heat and it has been 11 days since we checked in. Would not recommend. Loft suitable for children only. Furniture old and dirty.Owner response: We are sorry you had a bad experience. We received no email regarding the heat! We were there shortly after you and found somebody had turned the heater off, which surprised us. There are auxilliary heaters in each room (baseboard and additional electric plug-in) for emergency use, but we had no idea the heat was turned off! We thought you had done it! We would certainly have appreciated a phone call letting us know about the lack of cleaning. If you had to make the beds when you got there, then the housekeeper, for some reason, did not show up. This is the first time that has happened and we would have appreciated knowing it. We would have gotten her right over there!! The furniture is not new. We share it with too many people for it to be new, but it is professionally cleaned periodically. Again, we are sorry you had a bad experience and wish you had contacted us about any of your concerns. We would have addressed them immediately and this is the first we have heard of it. :-(

We stayed in Victor for a long weekend and really enjoyed the cabin. It's all nicely done and seemed roomy for us. Beautiful renovations. Talking with folks in Victor, it seems like there are a lot of things going on and the town will be bustling this summer. Cripple Creek is about 7 minutes away - super close! Both towns have a ton of history. We visited mines, fossil national park in Florissant. All very close towns to Victor. There is also many hiking trails around both towns.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers.

We had a wonderful visit to the Victor. The weather and landscape in this area was second to none. The trip was to get away and relax, with side trips to see the area. We plan to return in the fall.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2011
About the owner: We live in New Mexico, just outside of El Paso, Texas, where the Army has stationed us at Fort Bliss and we have a small alpaca ranch (unregistered rescues).
Why the Owner Chose Cripple Creek:
My husband and I fell in love with this historic mining community in the Rocky Mountains and bought our own little vacation place to share with others when we are not in town!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We love staying at the cabin, where we can gamble in Cripple Creek, go to Skagway and 11-Mile Reservoirs, horseback ride in Canon City, shop the antique stores in Florence, or take a scenic drive down Phantom Canyon, Shelf Road and Gold Camp Roads. The entire town is a historic mining community and almost all the buildlings were built in 1899 and 1900. The views are spectacular!
