Tired of staying at impersonal, expensive, noisy condos? Want to be treated more like family instead of just another renter? Our non-smoking unit is an unusual getaway for a couple (and maybe one small child). We live in the top two floors of a residential three story townhouse located directly on the Gulf of Mexico on Okaloosa Island and rent out our ground floor lock-out studio apartment from time to time.
Our unit is not for everyone. If you want to party until the wee hours of the morning, there are plenty of other units available. But if you don't mind being fairly quiet from 10:00 PM until 6:00 AM, don't mind a Wire Hair Fox Terrier named Zoie, and enjoy just kicking back with a margarita and a little Jimmy Buffett music, this should suit you fine.
Your dedicated parking place will be right in front of the building, just steps from the entrance. We have three bicycles for you to tour around the island, and you can borrow Dave's fishing gear to do a little surf fishing. Beach gear (chairs, towels, umbrella, boogie boards, fresbies, kids toys, etc.) is also provided. You will have a private deck with a bar, and an enclosed outside shower for rinsing off after a day at the beach (Yes, we have a full bath inside also).
Finish off the evening with a game of darts, chess, or a boardgame, or select a movie from our DVD collection. In the morning you will have the local paper waiting at your front door for you to read while you're enjoying your coffee. We offer a 10% repeat guest discount and promise to make your stay with us as enjoyable as possible!

Okaloosa Island is a little "hidden gem" on the Emerald Coast. Quiet, laid back, very little traffic and beautiful beaches. And our Beachbums Hideaway is right on the beach! What more could you ask for?

When we bought our town home in 1998 it was a real "fixer upper". Dave spent two years remodeling the two upper levels where we now live, and then decided to build a studio apartment in the rear of the garage. We always wanted to own a Bed and Breakfast and we feel that our unit is the next best thing to it. We wanted a unique rental where our guests would feel at home and more like family, not just another impersonal condo. Since we opened for business in March 2004 we have been blessed with almost continuous bookings from March through October. Many of our guests come back year after year and we will never forget who actually pays our bills.

This is the best place ever! We've told all our friends to come visit. Beachbums Hideaway is the ultimate in vacation spots. Dave and Ginny are so friendly and helpful. All the little "welcome" touches make you feel at home, but pampered! Even though we cut our stay short because of Hurricane Ike moving in (we were riding our motorcycle and wanted to be sure we were WAY ahead of the storm on the way home), we enjoyed every minute of our stay. It was completely relaxing, didn't feel at all uncomfortable like I usually do when we're away from home. We will be back many times in the years to come. And I've loaded the Beachbums Hideaway CD onto my MP-3 to listen to if we ride the bike down again. I can't say enough about this little piece of heaven.

We LOVED staying at the Beachbums Hideaway in September 2008 -- right after Hurricane Ike. The hospitality was outstanding. This included everything from wine and chocolate upon arrival, daily newspapers, to a special beachbums CD given to us at check out. After we returned home, my children received special postcards from Dave & Ginny that named them "official beachbums". These cards were so nice and thoughtful and were placed in our scrapbook, along with our vacation photos. We also loved the convenience of having everything right there -- beach chairs, towels, umbrellas, cooler, sand toys and games. This was definitely a benefit, especially when flying in. Dave was great, always helpful and willing to offer advice on restaurants and the area. I can't say enough good things about the Beachbums Hideaway. The sunsets and dolphin watching from the beach were amazing. I could go on and on..... Thank you Dave & Ginny! We'll be back! -The Watts Family

Your studio is our little slice of vacation heaven!! We will be returning June 27 next year for our 2 week stay. It is just right for the 2 of us and there is no way our 2 adult kids can invite themselves to stay with us!! I always bring an electric "eye", skillet and small pot to plug in on the bar, should I choose to fry anything or cook shrimp, etc and a very small grill to place on the grassy area, when we choose to grill out. I took all my showers in the outdoor shower. We are divers and bring all our own equipment and the back deck is a wonderful place to clean it and hang to dry without fear that someone will steal it. We also like the privacy the dune affords us. If we stand on tippy toes, we can see the water. The unit, though small, is very well equipped, even down to sunscreen, beachtowels, beach umbrella, beachchairs, shampoo, conditioner, etc. The bed is very comfy. Although we travel to Hawaii and Puerto Rico, BeachBumsHideaway is still my favorite and I am looking forward to June 27!! Dave and Ginny are wonderful hosts!!

My husband and I stayed at the hideaway for our wedding in June. It was exactly what we needed to relax before the big day. Dave and Ginny were fantastic and made us feel right at home. the beaches were the most beautiful that we had ever seen. we will definitely return.

What a great place and right on the beach. Dave and Ginny are perfect hosts. The studio is located at the end of the beach, so it is nice and quiet. Dave and Ginny are great about telling you where to go for a great meal or to shop. This place has all the little extras and is wonderfully decorated. Really comfortable and warm atmosphere. I usually don't sleep well away from home, but I slept like a baby every night! Will definetly stay here again. Great resturants nearby. Lots to do, or sleep on the beach. Thanks again Capt. He got in about a day and a half of freedom. Unit has all the comforts of home and very nicely decorated. The sugary white sand beach is gorgeous and the clear water is like being in the Caribbean.
