ROOMY VINTAGE COTTAGE - HISTORIC MANTEO:
Located just steps from the waterfront harbor, this vintage two-story cottage, is furnished in an elegant, yet comfy style.
RENOVATED & RESTORED in 2012 :
With 2 new baths and kitchen, the cottage has beautiful dark hardwood floors throughout contrasting with elegant white wallpapers and tall old-world ceilings in the living room and formal dining room. Perfect for a small wedding party.
GREAT KITCHEN - FRESH SEAFOOD:
The kitchen is bright and colourful, well equipped for a terrific fresh seafood dinner. A new microwave, coffee maker, toaster-oven and blender for spring soups or summer smoothies.
BEDROOMS:
A charming full bath and restored bedrooms are on the second floor. All have quirky and quaint ceilings and closets – typical of vintage Manteo – and are furnished with large comfy beds (California King or Queen) and Manteo antiques. The second-story is centrally heated and air conditioned. The first level has window a/c units in each room and is centrally heated.
EXTRAS:
A high-ceilinged sun-filled library is perfect for your early morning coffee and the daily paper – hardcopy or electronically delivered via the internet connection. (wifi)
Adjacent to the large living room is an elegantly furnished television room with a 32” LED and CD player for that late-nite flick. (Across the street is a petite ‘general store’ with a selection of films.)
AND THERE IS MORE:
From the cottage, it is only a few steps to the Manteo public boat ramp, the Manteo Yacht Harbor and the waterfront and street front shops and cafes. During the summer months, a Saturday Farmer’s Market is held in the dockside public park – locally grown produce, local honey and local seafood. The nearby weather tower is a must for youngsters as the flags indicate the current (and changing) weather.
The following attractions are all within a short drive: Island Farm, NC Aquarium, The Lost Colony and The Elizabethan Gardens.

We stayed three nights and loved it! The house is comfortable & charming. Perfectly situated to town. Most of all, we just really enjoyed the atmosphere & feeling of your home. It was PERFECT. You've done a great job with the decorating. King bed is super comfortable and the kitchen is very nice too. We enjoyed our stay here in the Outer Banks -- our first and all the way from Austin, TX. Thank you ....very muchDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Beautiful house! Perfect location! My husband and I loved walking across the street for great coffee, strolling along the water-front, shopping at the Farmer's Market. We thoroughly enjoyed exploring the area -- the beaches, Jockey's Ridge, The Lost Colony, the Aquarium (has complimentary admission for GA Aquarium members!). So much to see and do. Plus, the seafood is outstanding. The house is extemely comfortable and beautiful. Renovations are really well done. Loved looking at the art and family pieces. Slept great. Thank you! Highly recommend. We will definitely go back.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Wonderful experiene, charming house that felt warm and inviting. Will definetly return to area and this house. You can walk to the water and sit on the many chairs or benches that are available, visit the charming shops, have meals outside, or go to the movie theater. Greta area for walking sand relaxing!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We, too love walking across the street to the waterfront -- benches under big trees provide lots of shade and colorful sailboats in the harbor are truly eye-candy. Great spot for reading or even catching up on email. Wifi is available along the waterfront. Kids may spot a pirate or two!

Owner info
About the owner: A travel writer, and publisher, I reside much of my year outside the U.S. My haunts are usually water related -- beaches if I can get to them.
Why the Owner Chose Manteo:
The house has been in my family for more than 30 years and I grew up on this street (in a different location) attending the local schools. I'm a 9th generation Roanoke islander.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
In the summer, I love walking with my granddaughter, 'JB' to the Saturday morning Farmers' Market where we share a danish and cold drinks and pick out great NC produce. 'JB' loves the weather tower and we check it often.
Walking to Poor Richard's for breakfast (love those grits) and reading the Wall Street Journal, which he provides!
Browsing at local galleries -- the old courthouse gallery is charming. Sitting along the dockside late afternoons -- great views of Shallowbag Bay and all the sailboats make for great relaxation.
Walk to Festival Park (2 minute walk) for summer entertainment -- take low chairs or a beach towel -- food/beverage allowed. Many performances are for kids. Granddaughter, 'JB' loves them all.
