Aloha and Welcome to our Kanab home!
Gaze out at the 180 degree view of red cliffs and plateaus stretching for miles to the northern rim of the Grand Canyon, breathe deeply and get ready to RELAX! Enjoy the view from the rocking chairs or benches on the wraparound deck, or in the living room with its 6 large paned windows, or through the French doors in the dining room, or the bay window in the kitchen breakfast nook. This is a home with rockin' views!
The living room is newly furnished in Southwest style with warm, bright colors and handcrafted barn wood end tables and custom cedar coffee table. Brand new flat screen TV, cd/stereo with ipod dock, and dvd player, a small collection of dvds, and board games will keep you entertained.
A dining room with French doors and deck access seats 6 and a warm, inviting, sunlight-filled, spacious country kitchen makes it a pleasure to cook. A laundry room with new washer and dryer are adjacent for convenience.
The large master bedroom is newly furnished with a top quality king size bed and Western style dresser, nightstands and chest and includes a large walk in closet and master bathroom.
The roomy 2nd bedroom has a new top quality queen size bed and skylight. The bathroom is directly across the hall.
There is central air conditioning, ceiling fans in the living room and bedrooms and central heating during cooler months for your comfort during your stay.
How convenient! Each bedroom has its own private entry from the wraparound deck for easy arrival and departure. The hall bathroom has a walk in shower with handicap accessories for safety.
For the hikers many trailheads are accessible within five minutes of the back door. Bring your bicycle and pedal from the house or take your ATV or Jeep and in five minutes you are on your own. Hog Canyon is just minutes away and Coral Pink Sand Dunes is just over the hill. The Escalante National Monument could keep you busy for years taking a different trail every day. Easy day trips are a favorite by going to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon, Capital Reef National Park, Lake Powell, the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Scenic Highway 12, too numerous to mention Scenic Byways and back roads to fishing lakes, horseback trips or guided canyon tours. Take an overnighter to Moab, Canyonlands and Arches National Park. Rest up for a week after rafting the Grand Canyon with Grand Canyon Expeditions, headquartered in Kanab.
For a small town Kanab has very good restaurants and some include great selections of vegetarian and other healthy menu items. Two well-stocked local grocery stores will keep the pantry full.
For the shoppers, St. George, Utah is a quick and scenic 75 mile adventure drive along the Arizona Strip, Kaibab Plateau and Vermillion Cliffs area.
Something for everyone!!

We spent a wonderful week in Kanab and at Kanab Vistas. It was a perfect location for us to visit the National Parks and also volunteer at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. This home was comfortable and had every amenity. The views from the wrap around porch were wonderful. I snapped some incredicle sunrise pictures from the front porch. I would recommend this home to everyone. I hope to return to it again.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Kanab and our stay at Kanab Vistas. It is a beautiful property with gorgeous views--just as the photos show. The house was sparkling clean and very comfortable. We loved the wrap-around decks. We used Kanab Vistas as home base for volunteering at Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and for trips to both Zion and Bryce National Parks. It was wonderful to come home to such a nice place after some wonderful days volunteering. The owners were so helpful answering our questions and even responding quickly to a question we had while we were there. They were very nice. We especially loved getting to know Oreo. What a sweetie! We would definitely recommend this property to anyone planning a trip to Best Friends, Zion or Bryce.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I've just spent a post-Christmas week at Kanab Vistas. It's first-class. The furniture was just my taste, solid desert south-west. Everything works. everything's simple, nothing was rickety, lovely light, and more spacious than the photos suggest. Great value. Thanks, Gay! NB there's a late opening liquor store a few minutes south just across the AZ border. 3 fairly easy too access but excellent off-road hikes/strolls: 1. Paria Movie Set - great views, not spoiled at all, lovely hiking nearby to the west, but don't get lost in the arroyos. 2. Wire Pass - narrow, atmospheric, but easy slot canyon. 3. Lick Wash - down the Skutumpah road, which is snow-plowed that far, but not all the way thru to Willis Creek and Cannonville. Note great glimpses of Bryce Canyon cliffs to the north as you drive along. Zion NP is very accessible. I suggest the $80 annual NP pass is a bargain rather than the $25 one-off entry. It works for car and occupants.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was our second VRBO experience; this was our second amazing VRBO experience. We were able to spend one month here where Gay and Chuck provided everything you could possibly need for an extended stay. It is the perfect place for exploring southern Utah. The north rim of the Grand Canyon, Best Friends Animal Rescue, Bryce Canyon, Red Rock Canyon, Cedar Breaks National Park, Kolob Canyon, Zion National Park, St. George, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Pipe Springs National Monument were all day trips for us. A visit to Moab requires an overnight stay but is well worth the trip. The photographic opportunities were everywhere you looked! The weather was comfortable; the house was comfortable; the location was perfect. Having said all this, it was a dream vacation. (One last note...be sure to eat at the Rocking V. When you do, make sure you check out the gallery that is upstairs. They have some lovely art pieces for sale.) Thank you, Gay and Chuck for making our trip to Utah so memorable,Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway.

We arrived at the property late on Sunday afternoon and as soon as we walked into the house, we felt right at home. The pictures on the website were accurate but seeing the home in person made us appreciate it so much more. The owners were very gracious and helpful, giving us all the information to make our stay perfect. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could possibly need and the bedrooms and living area were very comforting after a long day of sightseeing. We gave the gas grill and the new washer-dryer a good workout and used the wi-fi to make plans for different day trips. We were even able to find time to catch some Olympic events on the flat screen TV. We relaxed on the porch at every opportunity to drink our morning coffee (thanks for the Kona coffee Gay, it was great!) or drink a nice glass of wine in the evening and watch the stars or the lightning in the distance. The grocery stores in town (especially Honey's Marketplace) had a great selection of all that we needed. One of the reasons that we chose the Kanab area was its central location and easy access to the area's famous attractions. We were able to visit Zion NP,the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon NP and also made the longer trek up to Capitol Reef NP. All of them are spectacular but each park had it's own personality with great hiking trails and breathtaking views. We did take two full days however; to just stay at the house and enjoy everything it had to offer. It truly was one of the best vacations we have ever taken and this home made it so special. Our boys ( 6 and 16 years old ) loved it as much as we did and we will not forget the wonderful time we had ( videos and pictures to prove it). Thanks again to our hosts for sharing their home with us and thanks to Oreo for the friendly welcome.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

This was our first experience with VRBO. Gay, your home is lovely. Better then the pictures,(if that's possible). Well appointed kitchen with lots of extras that helped make our stay feel like home. Connecting with Gay about any questions/concerns were answered promptly. The home was extremely clean. We used this home for hiking in G.C., Kolob, Zion, and Bryce. It is the perfect location! Gay, I want to say Thank You, for making our visit to Kanab wonderful!! I will definitely recommend your home to anyone.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway.

My husband and I stayed at this lovely, peaceful home for 8 days in August. As soon as you walk in any door (many are surrounded by the wrap-around porch), you are immediately taken by the beauty, class, and down-to-earth comfort of your surroundings. If a home is a reflection of the owner's personality, all I can say is that I would like Gay as my new best friend. Every room is decorated with care to fit in with the beautiful and compelling Utah landscape. I loved the furniture in the living room and the way the desert light meshs with the interior colors. The master bedroom contains a large walk in closet and bathroom, perfect for emptying your suitcase, grabbing the day's attire and footware, and hitting the trail. The photos do not do the home justice. We enjoyed ATV riding in close by Coral Pink Sands State Park. Of course, we visited Zion NP on several days and Bryce Canyon on the others. We hiked quite a few trails but our favorites were the Narrows and Angels Landing in Zion. In Bryce Canyon, our favorite was the Navajo - Peekaboo loop trail. Animal people that we are, we immediately fell in love with the large cat named Oreo who has "squatters rights" to the wraparound porch. Speaking of the porch...we were astounded by the display of thunderstorms and double rainbows we witnessed across the desert from that porch. In a nutshell, I would go back to this house in a heartbeat. You will be delighted with the home, the ease of dealing with Gay, and of course...the cat.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Our family of 5 stayed here for a week. The home was the perfect vacation house with excellent views in every direction, great amenities and the furnishings were beautiful. The home was very spacious and immaculate! We loved sitting on the wrap around deck!! We couln't have asked for anything more. We visited, St. George, Utah, Page Arizona, Las Vegas, Best Friends, Grand Canyon, Bryce Canyon, Zion National Park and did some exploring in Kanab. Kanab is a very interesting town and has many points of interest. The location of the home was centrally located between all the destinatios we visited. We highly recommend staying here you won't be disappointed. The owners and the property manager were great to deal with and made us feel at home. We look forward to going back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Michelle, you folks sure managed to cover most of the major national parks conveniently from our home as your base, yet had time to relax on our front porch with its own expansive views. We are pleased to know that you found our home convenient, immaculate and that it met your expectations. Thank you for choosing our home for your trip and we hope you'll come again! Much aloha, Chuck and Gay

About the owner: My husband and I live on the Hamakua Coast on the Island of Hawaii where we are active in the retail tire and property/casualty insurance businesses. We love to travel in the Southwest and have a menagerie of pets: 3 dogs, 3 rescued cats, 1 pet wild boar named Winston, and 3 horses. We look forward to spending more time in Kanab hiking, exploring new off-road trails, and making more friends.
Why the Owner Chose Kanab:
We have vacationed in the Southwest for many years in beautiful places like Sedona, Taos, Santa Fe....but we actually give credit to VRBO website and Dru and Bob Hepler, owners of the Grand Canyon Cabin for our decision to buy a home in Kanab. Long story short, almost a year ago, their TV caught fire in the middle of the night, they credited us with a free night and we've been fast and good friends ever since. Their friendship and others we have met, Kanab's down-to-earth beauty, charm, proximity to national parks and sights, clear blue skies and fresh air...need we say more? We sincerely wish you the best that Kanab offers and that you truly enjoy your stay!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We can't say enough about the views from our home. Most days are blue sky and sunny with cool evenings. Kanab is so central to one of the most beautiful areas in North America that every day offers a new adventure.
