This sophisticated apartment is situated in the middle of one of the most exciting areas in the city. Within walking distance are the Castro district, the Lower Haight neighborhood, the Haight Ashbury, and Hayes Valley. Public transportation directly outside the door connects you to the entire city.

Have the convenience of buses, Muni Light Rail vehicles, and Bay Area Rapid Transit to easily get to the new Baseball Park, Cole Valley, Upper Fillmore, Union Square, cable cars, the Embarcadero, North Beach, and dozens of other interesting neighborhoods on both sides of the bay.

The apartment is two stories above the corner of Haight Street and Divisadero Street, in a six-unit Victorian building. It's a corner apartment with a southwest exposure, and is delightfully bright and sunny. Please note that this is a busy corner and some traffic noise can be heard in the apartment.

The living room has 12-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, a decorative Victorian fireplace surround, period details, and some contemporary touches. Furnished casually with leather modular furniture, oriental rugs, color, and contemporary art, it's a comfortable and interesting place to come home to.

The kitchen is well equipped, and has a range with grill, microwave, toaster, a dishwasher, disposal, and cool urban-sized fridge. A generous pass-through from the kitchen helps keep the cook connected to the living dining area.

One bedroom has a king-size bed in the corner bay window, Japanese tansu, a Chinese cabinet, and other Asian art. The other bedroom has a bay window, and is nicely furnished with a queen-size bed. Deep brown walls set off some striking paintings.

The bathroom has a tub, shower, and double sinks. The bathroom's striped walls and eclectic décor, together with the morning sun make it a delight. You'll find plenty of towels in the carved Chinese kitchen-style cabinet.

The street entry is behind a secure outer gate, which leads to the doors to the stairs. Very close by are stores and services, public transit as well as Buena Vista Park and Golden Gate Park.

A private garage with automatic opener is available in the building. Drive in, close the door and enter the apartment via the back of the building

Come and stay in a real San Francisco neighborhood, and spend your vacation living like the locals.

Fabulous Place to Stay in S.F.!

What a terrific find! Owner is friendly and accomodating. Apartment is charming and comfortable. It was very clean (and I'm very picky!) and has everything you could possibly need. The king bed was amazingly comfortable. Slept better there than at home! It was so nice to have a place to relax and spread out rather than being cooped up in a hotel room. Nice to be able to have breakfast and easy meals. It was an extremely convenient location for us since our son lives 2 1/2 blocks away. Lots of fun restaurants and shops within a short walk of the apartment in the Haight. The Grind is a great breakfast place. They serve other meals as well, but we only went for breakfast. There is a corner store right across the street, but walk the extra distance (3 blocks) and go to Faletti's at the corner of Broderick and Oak. Wonderful gourmet food market. Buena Vista Park is close and beautiful. Alamo Park is a little further, but beautiful as well. Golden Gate Park is also within walking distance. Don't miss it! It was a beautiful day and there were tons of families and couples there enjoying the day. A real taste of S.F.! There are bus stops on every corner if you need them. We had an easy bus ride to BART to SFO, get on the bus at the corner, get off at BART station and off we went. We were through security within 1 1/2 hours from leaving the apartment. Ok, it is noisy. We loved it! You're in the city for pete's sake! That's why you're there! If you want quiet, go to the country. If it bothers you sleeping (it didn't bother us) take earplugs! If you haven't been to S.F. before, be prepared for every type of weather all in the same day; warm, sun, rain, cold, wind. We will definitely be staying here again.

We stayed in this apartment for 9 nights. Everywhere is within a 40 minute walk, otherwise the bus is available virtually at the door front. Haight-Ashbury, City, the Castro. Fabulous location. The apartment is gorgeous, with everything you want provided. Impeccably clean, well maintained. has a lovely character about the apartment as soon as you walk through the front door. There is a superette across the road, and a couple of restaurants and bars, within a 3 minute walk. Evan provided excellent customer service, when we telephoned him, he was helpful with assisting us with activities, as arriving from New York on the 3rd of July (and being Australian) we had no idea of what to do on the 4th July. The buses outside create a little bit of noise, you cannot expect to stay in the city and have no noise. Most of the windows are double glazed. We both loved staying in the apartment, if I ever return to San Francisco I would book Evan's apartment. Love it, Love it, Love it.

Designer Apartment Near the Castro and Haight

Compact well laid out apartment. Two adults and a 14yr old stayed for one week in August 2009. Good points: Compact, well laid out, excellent for transport downtown, good food nearby ( Metro Italian about ten doors away- good food), and an excellent upmarket deli on Oak Street. The fold away bed in the second bedroom has been replaced with a proper bed. The apartment felt secure and safe, and the neighbour hood seemd okay. Loads to do on Haight Street and Buena Vista Park was only a few minutes walk away. Not so good points: the laundry is in the basement of the building and is coin operated. The roller blinds on the windows are worn out. The property is on a busy intersectionand there was quite a bit of traffic noise. The apartment wasn't spotlessly clean, the white leather suite is a bit grey and worn out. It needs it a bit of TLC to bring the standard up, maybe some heavy drapes to help with the noise. Overall our experience was okay. The owner was very helpful with information about the area and he also lives in the apartment when there are no guests.

Owner response:Overall this is a good review. I have replaced the worn roller blinds on the windows and the leather couch has received a good cleaning. The noise from traffic is hard to avoid due to the location. Most people have no problem with it. I've been renting it for vacationers for six years.

Apartment in the Haight

Guest: TravelSanFan (Adelaide, South Australia)
Date of Stay: 12/01/07 Review Submitted: 01/07/08

We stayed in this apartment for 2 weeks in December 2007. There are 3 of us - two adults and a 4 year old. The apartment is close to public transport ( the bus stops right outside and the F line and the light rail are not far away) and is quite well equipped and secure. There are a number of shops nearby. It is as described. On the downside, the apartment is very noisy (despite some double glazing) and this was not made clear in the description. Heating is minimal (the fireplace is not working) although it did not feel cold, probably because of its southerly aspect. There is no air conditioning, but I cannot say if this would be a problem in summer. The apartment is quite small, and quite cluttered. Less clutter would make it seem larger. The second bed is a sofa bed and is very uncomfortable. The apartment was not very clean and not easy to clean because of the loose rugs in the kitchen bathroom passage and living room. Overall, we were disappointed with the noise and cleanliness of the apartment, but pleased with the facilities and proximity to transport.
