Having rented several apartments, this one rises to the top of the list. The location is ideal, within easy walking distance of every major site in the city, and close to many excellent restaurants. Despite big crowds of tourists, the apartment is quiet since it is on the back of the building, and has a lift to bring you to the third floor. The rooms are spacious, with plenty of storage space and comfortable furniture, and the kitchen is very well equipped. The grocery store is close, as well as several specialty shops. We never needed to leave the Oltrano for dinner, since there are many excellent choices very close by. Our favorites were I Quatri Leone and il Cantinione at 6 via Santo Spirito. Francesco was very helpful, and all the praise from other guests is absolutely true. A real gem!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a terrific week here. The apartment is amazingly well located.....easy walking to markets, historic sights, train and bus stations. We found it so easy to take day trips to Siena and the Cinque Terre and return "home." The apartment is wonderfully equipped. Everything we needed was easily located. I can't think of a thing we needed that wasn't available. After a day of walking, touring and climbing, we were so happy to have wonderful little restaurants right outside our door. Our favorite was 4 Leoni.....a simple menu, wonderful house red wine and great atmosphere. We also shopped at the great deli in the Conad store just a block away....a busy place with long lines but an efficient checkout and worth the wait. Francesco met us upon our arrival and arranged for a taxi to pick us up at 5 AM which was a godsend. He was most helpful. We would not hesitate to recommend this apartment to our friends and family and hope to return here ourselves one day.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We were delighted with our stay here over New Years. It was our first visit to Florence, and this apartment was perfect - clean, large, great kitchen, lovely toasty heated floors in the bathroom and most of all, perfectly located within easy walking distance to all of Florence. The photos represent the flat very well. It is spacious and more than large enough for two. We particularly enjoyed being able to cook some of our own meals in the well appointed kitchen. Francesco, the property manager, was responsive and attentive without being intrusive and arranged transportation for us to the airport. We would whole-heartedly recommend this location and will definitely book it again when we return to Florence. Do try to visit the old church directly across from the apartment, we didn't find out until too near the end of our stay that it has important features. Winter is a terrific time to visit this beautiful city - the temperatures were comfortable for sweaters and jackets, crowds were not overpowering (except perhaps New Year's Eve in the Piazza - which got a bit scary with the firecrackers!!), and it is such a walk-able city. We walked everywhere, including to the apartment from the train station with our roller bags. We most enjoyed the David, the climb to the top of the Duomo (not for the faint of heart!), our small group tour with Francesca (from Walking Tours of Italy) of the Uffizi, the small eateries at the market, particularly the tripe at 'Porks' and the Hungarian food at the place next door to 'Porks', and of course, the organic gelato from GROM, which was truly outstanding. We were also pleasantly surprised at how accessible day trips to Pisa and Sienna were from here and used WalkAbout Tours for that. The prices for these guided tours seem steep, but are well worth it in terms of value delivered.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

You will not be sorry choosing this flat as your place to stay in Florence. It is immaculately maintained, fully equipped with all your needs, comfortable and cozy. The location is ideal and Francesco is a peach of a guy. When one of our pieces of luggage was lost by the airline, Francesco went out of his way to retrieve it. We're not sure that the apartment can accomodate 3-4 people as it is described but it was a wonderful place to come "home" to after a long day of sight seeing.Did you find this review helpful? We loved the apartment. It is light, and bright and airy. Had all the comforts of home, and some I don't have, like a clothes line to dry clothes on - I loved that. The location is excellent - I have stayed in this general vicinity before and it is the only place in Florence I want to stay. Francesco was a delight and we look forward to seeing him again.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car.

My husband and I enjoyed our 4 night stay in this lovely apartment. The description and photos are accurate but it looks even better in person. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen is equipped with anything you need. Everything worked well, very clean and the internet connection is fast. The location is wonderful, easy walk to all of the attractions. To reach the Sanford grocery store take a right out the door, walk half a block to the busy area, cross the street (ponte vecchio is on left) and grocery store is on right a half block farther on De Bardi. We enjoyed our meal at Osteria Santo Spirito very much. It's located in Santo Spirito square about 2 blocks away from the apt. very much and also enjoyed the restaurant that is just to your left as you leave the apartment. We didn't need reservations for any restaurants. One of the best sandwiches with wine was at LaLoggia on Borgo Degli Albizi (and Segglio) on a walk between the Duomo and San Croce. La Bussola Wine Bar on Via Porta Rossa is excellent. The LaTraviata mini opera at St. Mark's Anglican Church was a highlight of our trip and is less than a block from the apartment on Via Maggio (reservations on internet are necessary.) We walked to Piazzalle Michaelangelo for incredible views. It's a strenuous walk with steps so you might consider a bus. The Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens are well worth a visit. The apartment manager, Francesco, is very professional, on time and will assist you with reservations if needed. We will be forever grateful for his help with a passport problem.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This lovely apartment in the Oltrarno district is in a perfect location with all the major sights within walking distances. It is in a charming, old building in the historical centre, but it is updated and offers such modern conveniences as air conditioning, a dishwasher and a washer — all of which we really appreciated. The apartment is very well equipped and spotlessly clean. The neighbourhood is safe and quiet, except for the usual urban sounds like motorcycles and garbage trucks which are to be expected in a downtown location. But there are also church bells ringing and some pleasant music sounds drifting up through the windows, too. There are plenty of interesting shops and restaurants nearby, as well as a supermarket and a greengrocer. Francesco, the manager, welcomed us warmly and was helpful and informative, both before and during our stay. We loved our week in Florence and would recommend this beautiful apartment to our friends and family.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Everything about this apartment is wonderful. The location, though close to the Ponte Vecchio, is quite quiet. Two blocks down from a nice grocery that can supply your every need. The kitchen/dining area is set up with all the utensils, dishes and cutlery to make cooking your own Tuscan meals easy. And, it is located just around the corner from what some say is the best gelato in the world. Just hang a right out the front door and take the first immediate right down an alley to the small Piazza Della and the Gelateria della Pessera.Did you find this review helpful? All that has been said in praise of this delightful apartment could not be truer to the word. A haven which is appointed well above expectations from the nearby busy streets. Having stayed in many apartments in Europe over a few years this would be placed at the top of my list. Clean, comfortable and many extras included in price which were welcomed. Condiments, soaps etc there for your use. We happily left some to add to their collection! Located in an ideal spot enabling walking to the all of the museums and galleries. We frequented Conad supermarket 5mins walk away and brought home many delicious items and prepared most of our meals in the well equipped kitchen. Kitchen utensils are of the highest quality. It was an absolute delight to cook and look out the window towards the Boboli Gardens. This apartment we would recommend without hesitation. The booking process worked well and Francesco was ready and willing to assist in any way from the first contact prior to booking. Polite, professional and friendly so thank you Francesco. A home away from home which hopefully we shall return to. Just writing this makes me want to start planning the next trip! The 2 from Melbourne-AustraliaDid you find this review helpful? My daughter and I spent 5 days in Florence at the end of May and found this apartment to be ideal. It was clean, comfortable and well stocked. We appreciated having a washer, full-sized range and refrigerator and the iron and ironing board as well. The bed was very comfortable and street noise was minimal. We were close to many good to excellent restaurants, galleries, churches, fruit stand and a supermarket. Access to the shower was a little tight. Francesco met us at the door even though we were later than expected and he was there at exactly the time we told him we were going to leave. I would definitely consider renting this apartment again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I spent five days in Florence and were happy to return to this wonderful apartment each night. It's very close to everything yet feels off the beaten path when you enter the secure, quiet building. The apartment is roomier than the pictures suggest with a very comfortable bed and plenty of room to spread out and relax. The bathroom was thoughtfully stocked with soaps, plenty of towels, even cotton swabs! The kitchen is a delight of colors with two windows overlooking the courtyard and the hills beyond. The kitchen is well-stocked with dishes and supplies and easy to work in - we enjoyed hanging out at the kitchen table, watching the clouds roll in and the sun peep out. There are some fun places to shop and eat very close by and most of Florence's historic sites are within a short walk. Francesco is great! Very helpful and responsive. The apartment is a good value and we highly recommend it!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 9 nights in Florence and would highly recommend this lovely apartment in the heart of the Oltrarno district. The location, being just around the corner from The Ponte Vecchio, enabled very easy sightseeing, as everything was within walking distance. The cosy apartment was extremely well equipped and we wanted for nothing. Francesco was extremely reliable during both the booking and check in and check out periods. For two people this apartment is a perfect option. Beautiful views of Santo Spirito ( especially at sunrise) and of the nearby Pitti Palace and Boboli Gardens were an added bonus. We hope one day to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We stayed in this apartment for 12 days in March and it served us very well. The location was excellent, not only close to the main sites (e.g. Duomo in 10 minutes), but close to a supermarket, a fruit/vegetable store (on the corner), newsstand, lots or restaurants, snack shops, and more, on the same street or within a couple of minute's walk. The apartment itself was a good size, and while it had old-world charm, it also had all of the modern conveniences, such as a washing machine and dish washer. The bedroom is roomy, with ample closet space and a comfortable bed. The bathroom is the typical European small size with a small shower. The living room had a couch and chair, and plenty of reading light, and the kitchen was large, with a full range, oven, fridge, and an eat-in area. This last was very convenient for us, since we cooked quite often and found the kitchen easy to use and very well-stocked. In fact, having stayed in many vacation rentals in the U.S. and abroad, this was the best stocked apartment we'd ever stayed in. Overall, we found the apartment to be an excellent choice. it was nice to be on the other side of the Arno away from the masses of tourists, but be aware that any part of central Florence is urban and you'll get the sounds of urban life (e.g. garbage trucks, motorcycles, pedestrians). If you're a light sleeper, I recommend bringing earplugs and/or white noise. We used the latter and slept well. Francesco was responsive on email before we arrived, and was helpful when we got there. He even ordered us a taxi for our early-morning flight. I'm very glad we stayed here and if we return to Florence, would stay here again.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We've used VRBO many times when traveling through Europe and once again it did not let us down! This apartment is perfectly located just seconds from gorgeous Ponte Vecchio. It's on the "quieter" side which was a nice escape from the hordes of tourists as you get closer to the Duomo. But, Florence is so small that within 10-15 minutes you can walk nearly anywhere in the entire city. There are many little shops, restaurants, and cafes within a block radius. The apartment itself is large by European standards and was equipped with everything you could possibly need (umbrellas, hairdryer, iron, cooking supplies, etc). Francesco met us upon arrival and walked us through the apartment showing us how to use everything and let us know he was available for any help we needed during our stay. We didn't bother him too much, but did have him book us reservations for dinner one night (our Italian isn't very good!) and he ordered us a taxi to go back to the airport on our final day which arrived exactly on time. I would highly recommend this apartment for a couple visiting Florence. It has everything you could want and more!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I booked this perfectly located apartment for our recent visit to Florence, and found it to be everything we'd hoped for and more. It is lovely even beyond the great photos found here, primarily because it's spotless, and so thoughtfully and beautifully appointed with everything you'll need for your visit. Francesco was very helpful before and during our stay (we arrived a day late due to a fire in the train tunnel between France and Italy, so we contacted Francesco who rearranged his schedule to accomodate our late arrival) and offered his assistance in any way, while we were there. We've rented units all over the US and globe, and this was by far the nicest, in a beautiful building, and perfect location. It was nice to be just south of the Arno river, where it's quieter, with plenty of places to eat, with a great grocery store nearby. We were a 1 or 2 minute walk to the Ponte Vechio and over the bridge (north) to the Duomo and Uffuzi, many/most tourist sights, shopping, etc. Everything you want to see is in walking distance from the apartment. Also, when we arrived, we walked, with our bags, from the train station, to the apartment, which took about 15 minutes. The place is beautiful, well-maintained, and we wanted for nothing. We would recommend it, and already have, to our family and friends. And we would stay there again, when we're back in Florence.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This comfortable apartment was exactly as presented. We spent two weeks in Florence to see the sights, eat the food, and feel like Iocals. The apartment was completely well stocked; all we needed were our clothes. The location was perfect. The restaurants in this area were excellent and the shops beautiful. The grocery store was only a couple minutes walk. The neighborhood is affluent, safe, and quiet. We found these restaurants very enjoyable and the meals excellent: 4 Leoni, Mamma Gina, Osteria Del Cinghiale Bianco, Il Borgo Della Pizza, and for latte' Cafe Degli Artigiani. The location of 4 Leoni and Cafe Degli Artigiani are turn right leaving the apartment go down the alley turning left and you will see both places. Steak lovers, this place is a must: Antico Ristoro Di Cambo and have the Bistecca alla florentine located at Saint Onofrio 1 R. Our entire experience was FABULOUS! Francesco was very helpful and prompt. At our request he arranged a taxi at 05:30 to take us to the airport. The taxi was exactly on time and the price was as quoted. Thank you, Francesco! We would stay here again in a heartbeat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The location of this apartment is superb for tourists visiting Florence. A 10-minute walk from the railway station, there is also easy walking access to all the major attractions. (If you decide to walk from the station take the Ponte Santa Trinita.) Standing in the front of the building to your right is The Ponte Vechhio (only a couple of blocks away), yet far enough from the multitude of tourists). To the left is the Ponte Santa Trinita. You are in the neighborhood of the Palazzo Pitti, Giardino di Boboli, Piazza di Santo Spirito, etc. The neighborhood has plenty of dining options, with a couple good grocery stores and lots of interesting small shops nearby. The apartment is comfortable and has excellent natural lighting and is nicely furnished. The owner and manager, Senor Francesco Soldani Benzi, have taken care of all the small details needed for an easy stay. There is even a supply of American coffee. The Wi-Fi service is excellent. The shuttered windows lack screens, so visitors staying there should be aware that in the summer there could be mosquitoes. European hallways have intermittent lighting; bring a flashlight if you have difficulty seeing in dimly lit hallways. However, when the time came to live for Venice, we did not want to go! That is how comfortable we felt in this apartment. After coming from busy Rome and frantic Naples this was the perfect pied-à-terre to enjoy all the wanders that Florence have to offer. We highly recommend this apartment. Saremo di ritorno, Signor Benzi!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

It has everything one could need, down to the smallest detail is designed for the welfare of the tenant. You feel very welcome. Even has a small library with everything you want to know about Florence. It is very well located one block from the Ponte Vecchio, surrounded by first-class hotels, with lovely stained glass. Wow. This apt completely exceeded our expectations. The location could not be any better. Right in the center of all tourist attractions. There is a super market close by and we ate in the apt all the time. Very complete kitchen with everything you need and a table to eat at. The AC and elevator were LIFESAVERs! The bathroom was very clean and we loved having a washing machine there. We got a kick out of drying our clothes on the line Italian style! The beds very super comfy and the windows face a court yard, so its very quiet at nights. Francesco was super helpful and everything went so smoothly. This is a great apartment to stay at! Not only is it beautiful, comfortable and well located, the people who manage it are first class! We arrived at the apartment and were met by Francesco who is a very friendly and pleasant Italian young man. He had bought refreshments and water that were waiting for us in the fridge. He patiently answered all our questions about the apartment details: how the ac, tv, internet, appliances, etc. work. The apartment is beautiful, airy, full of light, well furnished and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Whatever we needed was there already: laundry detergent, garbage bags, napkins - we were able to spend our vacation time enjoying Florence and all it has to offer. The apartment is in the middle of the city center, steps from the Ponte Vecchio, walking distance to all main attractions and to the train station. There is a great super-market close by, banks, stores, restaurants, a taxi stand... We (a couple) stayed in this apartment for six weeks in May/June 2011. It is a great apartment, and the location couldn't be better. The apartment is just as described - wifi, a/c, good shower, well-equipped kitchen, washing machine, comfortable bed, nice linens and plenty of them, and well supplied with the basics of paper goods, laundry soap, condiments, olive oil, coffee etc.. It is very clean, and Adriana (the owner) and Francesco (her grandson/manager) were extremely helpful and eager to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The elevator is a definite plus. The location in the Oltrarno is superb - two minutes to the Ponte Vecchio, one minute to Ponte Santa Trinita, lots of cafes, restaurants and gelaterias close by. Get your fruit and vegetables at the daily market in Piazza Santo Spirito, four minutes away - better and cheaper than the place on the corner. Conad, on Via del Bardi, just past the Ponte Vecchio, is a good supermarket for everything else. Best cafe: Cafe Artigiana - go up the alley by the dumpsters and turn left - the one with the green chairs. Best coffee and pastries around. Best gelateria: we're torn between the one in Piazza Frescobaldi (Ponte Sta Trinita) and the one at the end of the Ponte alla Carraia. Best sights: The refectory of the Ognissanti church for the Ghirlandaio Last Supper - no-one else there! And the Brancacci Chapel at Santa Maria del Carmine for the Masaccio frescoes - hardly anyone there, either. We highly recommend this apartment, and would stay there again if we came back to FlorenceRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I have used HomeAway and other similar websites for years and this apartment was as good and nice as any. Our visit to Florence was during the first part of May, and the weather was heavenly. The owner, Adriana, and her extended family were friendly, helpful and went out of their way to be sure that our stay was comfortable and pleasant. The apartment was fully equipped, as advertised, and the elevator was a plus (stairs are nice, but not when you have three bags of groceries). The apartment is centrally located, so walking to or from venues, attractions, parks, museums, etc. was not a problem. Even though it is located in the middle of town, it is on the quieter side of the river in an old neighborhood. We cooked and ate a lot of meals in the kitchen area, and it was nice to have good quality grocery stores and wine shops within a few blocks. I could ramble on and on, but never would be able to say enough good things about the apartment, and the good people that stood behind it. It's the people that make the difference. When, not if, we return to Florence, we will make this apartment our first choice.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed for 5 days over Easter and found this apartment to be simply lovely. It was quiet, clean, and well appointed. We could walk everywhere easily, and there were many places to eat close by. We came "home" for lunch everyday, and enjoyed pesto pasta and bread from the local grocery, and of course, a local wine. Francesco was always available for any questions. The hi speed internet service worked very well. There are lots of thoughtful touches in the rental, and we didn't need to buy anything in way of supplies. We felt like guests in a private apartment. We liked the corner cafe for breakfast just 50 meters up the street towards the Ponte Vecchio. We loved the 4 Liones for dinner. Florence was packed for Easter, and we had purchased tickets ahead of time for the Uffizi and the Accademia, so we battled the masses, but if you only have a little time, or don't like massive crowds, skip them and go to the San Marco Convent to see the Fra Angelico frescos. Not to be missed.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The apartment was perfect for our family of two adults and three children. The bed was large and the pull out bed in the living area was the size of an American double and was comfortable. Everything was very clean and on the newer side (linens, appliances, pots and pans, bathroom, etc..) It had all the neccessary supplies such as soap, dishwashing liquid, etc... Francesco was waiting for us when we arrived and accomodated our departure time. He left chocolate for our children and water was in the frig. (which we enjoyed, but replaced) Such thoughtfulness! The location is superb! You are close to so many of the sites and the farthest one (Accademia) is a pleasant 15 min. walk. A great supermarket is a 2 minute walk We walked from the train station (15 minutes with 3 children and luggage), but there is a bus stop on the street. We have stayed in several apts. while living in Europe and this is one of the best. .It is lovely, perfectly located, and a good value. Francesco is easy to work with and together it made the trip a pleasure.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My wife and I had a wonderful 11 night winter stay in this Borgo San Iacopo gem. The place was warm, very clean and nicely furnished with an exceptionally complete and large kitchen. If you like to cook on the road, this is the place for you. After full days of touring, it was wonderful to return to our refuge in the Oltrarno. We recommend the vegetable seller in the Via Dello Sprone near Via Toscanella. Superb quality at good prices and great cooking suggestions. There is a mini market next door which is adequate and there is a larger more luxurious CONAD on the other side of Via Guicciardini. The local speciality Latteria on Borgo San Iacopo between the apartment and Ponte Vecchio is also excellent. We have rented abroad throughout the world and have rarely had such a nice experience-no little irritants to report. Great hot water. Great reading light. Comfortable bed. Owner provided fabulous and super fast service when we had one small problem. Listing should stress the excellent elevator which brings you directly to your floor. The staircase is a beautiful piece of Florentine architecture but you don't have to use it which makes this place perfect for everyone. In sum, it is hard to be back in the real world.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 4 nights in this wonderful apartment close to all major sights in late October. Francesco was waiting for us at the appointed time for check-in and departure. The apartment has all the requirements for a pleasent stay including all kitchen items (we cooked for 2 nights), a washing machine, all paper items, towels, soap, etc. The location was perfect for us, right across the Ponte Vecchio, close to all major attractions but with a neighborhood feel. The apartment is on the 4th floor with a lift so it was quiet. The walk to the train station is about 20 minutes, which we did both ways but taxis are able to drop you right in front of the building. We would definitely recommend this apartment to a friend.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is an adorable place, beautifully located, spacious and charming. Everything is within walking distance and the area is chock-full of atmosphere. The loft bed is accessed by a steep staircase, so it's probably not for some folks. The only (extremely minor) glitches occured with a couple of very challenging door locks - but those were overcome and the entire stay was lovely. Highly recommended.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My fiance and I just returned from our trip to Florence and we spent 4 nights in this apartment. This was the first time i've used this site and i was extremely happy with the outcome. Francesco was super helpful and great to work with. The apt's location was amazing. The place was super clean, comfortable, and convenient to everything. You really get a different experience when staying amongst the locals. We were able to cook at home one night which was nice. I'd recommend anyone looking for a great florence experience, to stay stay here. Francesco and Adrianna were super nice. Thanks -NirajOwner response: Thank you Niraj, your review gives honor to the apartment!!

We arrived from San Francisco exhausted to be greeted late in the evening by the very handsome Francisco and were delighted with the appartment. Big, clean with all the amenities and so centrally located but a QUIET oasis from the hustle and bustle of Florence Beautiful rooftop views from all the windows, High Speed Internet, TV, a washer/Dryer Perfect for short or extended stays Do check out the restaurant on the corner Chingale (Wild Boar) a speciality The rabbit is wonderful and the burrata with truffles is not to be missedRecommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
