This cozy get-away was the perfect place for my wife and I to relax and enjoy our time on the Cape. Very comfortable, meticulously clean and nicely decorated... Our host, Eva, even provided a sweet table setting with hot chocolate and goodies for when we arrived and cookies for us to bake. We highly recommend this cottage for anyone wishing to enjoy their vacation on the Cape. We will definitely visit again. Bob & Nikki GundryDid you find this review helpful? We loved spending Thanksgiving at Sonny by the Sea. The cottage is beautiful, well-appointed and comfortable. It was exactly as described and in fantastic condition: clean, well-maintained and well-stocked. You can tell that the owners put a lot of time, effort and thought into its design and decoration. We also loved practically having the neighborhood to ourselves and being such a short walk to both the beach and the marsh. Barnstable was a great base for short trips to Plimouth Plantation (for a real Pilgrim Thanksgiving!), as well as to Provincetown and Chatham for dinner. We like to cook and the kitchen more than met our needs. In all, we had a wonderful Thanksgiving at your cottage and are considering coming back for other seasons. We highly recommend this house and its owners, who were incredibly warm, helpful and welcoming.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway.

Perfect for a couple or a family with young children. Beautifully decorated for fall with all the comforts of home. The owners, Eva and Stephen, could not be any nicer or accommodating. We chose to stay in Barnstable because of the central location: excellent choice. Within 20 minutes, we were on the ferry to MV or Nantucket. We toured the upper cape one day, the lower cape the next. The marina, restaurant & beach are all within easy walking distance and a wonderful market is just up the road. I highly recommend staying in this delightful home!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This house is a perfect little retreat. I would highly recommend this place to anyone: couples looking for a cozy/romantic & perfectly appointed rental, families with small children who don't want to worry about anything, or someone traveling solo. The owners obviously take great care in their home & each guest who visits. It also happens to be in a PERFECT location & is within minutes of so many activities - Cape Cod Chip Factory, Cape Cod Beer Tour, Whale Watch Cruise just to mention a few!Did you find this review helpful? This home is as comfortable as it is beautifully decorated and equipped – all I had to do was unpack! This was my first trip to Cape Cod, and finding this lovely cottage, in a mid-Cape location, made it so easy to see and do everything I had planned. The neighborhood is quiet and I felt very safe (I was travelling alone). The place is immaculate – if you have very high standards as I do, you won’t be disappointed. This cottage is solely geared towards the vacationer, not someone else’s second home. This and the location made it feel like I was really living on Cape Cod. After two weeks, I certainly didn’t want to leave! Eva makes you feel so welcome from rental to check out, you won't want to leave either. If I could give the cottage a rating of more than 5 stars, I would!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This cottage is gorgeous! Everything was spotless and the decoration immaculate. We were just around the corner from the dock where the Whale spotting ship departs - or a few minutes amble in the opposite direction and we were on the beach. The local beach is fun for kids - rock pools when the tide is low. This cottage is such a good location too as it was only 10 minutes to other great beaches - calm for swimming or big waves for surfing - or to the numerous shops. Local Barnstable village has a diner, post-office and great 'general store' along with a few other interesting stores - such a sweet place to visit. We loved our time here and are looking forward to when we can return! A big thank you to the owners who had thought of everything!!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Having grown up a mile or so away from this lovely cottage I had never had to rent a home in Barnstable before but am so glad that I found this one! When we arrived we found cold lemonade, snacks, guidebooks and a personal note of welcome. The cottage is very well furnished and is tastefully decorated. The kitchen has everything that you could need and more with lovely dishes, etc. We enjoyed pizza from Barnstable Market and lobster rolls from Osterville Fish all within walking distance. Eva was very quick to respond to any questions and made us feel like home! Will definitely recommend to friends and family!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Amazing. Need I say more, well I must. It was a very well built home and the design was amazing. Eva and steven thought of everything. I was greeted with a name board, flowers, a snack, fresh lemonade. The place had a grill, a stove, a washer dryer, bikes ( the one bike needed a little love but they were all free no rental) . They were so sweet and quick to respond to emails or questions. They new all the places to go and explore. The place was clean and smelled great. The description was accurate, property was well maintained. I would recommend my friends and family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

We struck lucky when we found this cottage amongst the numerous others on the web ! What a little gem and in such a lovely location to explore the Cape. The cottage had everything we needed (and more) , and it was such a pleasure at the end of a tiring day to rest in " Sonny by the Sea ". The owner Eva was extremely helpful both before and during the holiday . The cottage was spotless on arrival with some little gifts for us left by Eva .The nearby village of Barnstable is very quaint with some lovely shops and places to eat . I would definately recommend the Barnstable restaurant and tavern over the Mattakeese Wharf restaurant. The tavern was cheaper but had much better food although you do not get the view out over the harbour at the Barnstable tavern A must, is the whale watcher trip from the nearby harbour .A quiet and seemingly safe location with only a small walk to a beach. I would 100% recommend this cottage for couples or a small family with children.Recommended for: Families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

When I picture a Cape Cod cottage, this is exactly what I think of. Its amazing how many rentals have grandma's old wood and plaid sofa or bedrooms that look like something out of a scary movie. I'm sure, to some, the decor doesn't matter as much, but to me it really sets the mood for my experience. This cottage is beautiful. The location is perfect for a quiet vacation. We were lucky enough to be there when it was warm enough to go to the beach, yet far enough off-season that we had it to ourselves. The enclosed yard was perfect for my one and four year olds to run around in. Everything we needed in the way of shopping was a quick drive away. The house was very clean. The guide books that were provided were more than adequate for helping us get around. The kitchen was well-appointed for a vacation rental. I was able to cook some pretty serious meals. There was even parchment paper! The kids loved their room and we loved ours. My only complaint, which wouldn't be enough to keep me from returning, was the shower head. The water pressure was great, but the old shower head made washing my hair (of which I have a ton!) rather difficult. Oh and the knives could use a sharpening. Nothing that got in the way of our enjoyment of the house and the trip though. We can't wait to go back! Thanks so much for a wonderful stay!Did you find this review helpful? My sister and I went to the Cape in early May as a 50th birthday treat. I am so glad we found this cottage. The owners made sure everything went smoothly and perfectly. They were awesome!! They have a beautiful cottage and you can tell they take exceptional care of it, and their customers. I would stay here again and would recommend this cottage to my friends and family. The location is great with a very short walk to the beach, wharf, restaurant, and a small eatery with clam rolls and outdoor tables. It is a short drive to Barnstable where there is a P.O., Market, and great restaurants!! No glitches, everything was as expected... plus more, a total pleasure!!!Did you find this review helpful? You can't go wrong with this beautifully renovated Cape Cod cottage by the sea. The location is so close to the beach, near the village and it is central to all Cape attractions making it easy to get anywhere. The cottage itself is charming and tastefully decorated in a seaside, beachy theme. The home is bright and cheery and all the details have been carefully considered by the owners- toys, games, books and movies for the kids and family, beach gear, outdoor shower, bath amenities and even fresh flowers and homemade cupcakes upon arrival. We loved the convenience of having a washer and dryer, especially with a messy toddler! A fenced in backyard for our toddler to run around was a nice bonus, too. Our stay was comfortable and relaxing and I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage. If you're looking for the perfect Cape Cod getaway, look no further! The owners are a pleasure to work with and the cottage will not disappoint.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

Ok, major moral dilemma here. I don't want ANYBODY to know about this little place, because I NEVER want it to be booked when I want to come for a visit...however, I just don't need that kind of bad karma, so here goes: You know those adorable beach cottages you see on the covers of magazines, (the "clean, casual, beachy" not "cheesy, neon palm tree, Golden Girls, beachy")? Well, this is it! As soon as we walked in it was as if we had truly been transported to island time, or more specifically, Cape Time. The home was spotless, with lemonade and cookies waiting for us on the counter. The backyard was perfect for our very energetic 3 yr old daughter, and fully fenced in, which is an added bonus. The outdoor shower (with hot water) was invaluable when returning home from the beach. Speaking of beach, it's just a short walk around the corner (very quiet, residential neighborhood) and it is perfect for young children as the water is extremely calm. I literally could write 4 more paragraphs about why this home is a perfect Cape Cod rental, but you really need to experience the "oohs" & "ahhs" for yourself. Simply put: This home was built with love, the owners have thought of everything to make you feel like this is YOUR 2nd home, and we will NEVER stay anywhere else when we come to Cape Cod! (unless it ends up being booked solid :(Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This cottage was extraordinary! Even more beautiful in person. All the special little touches - fresh lemonade and little lime pies upon entering and a huge vase of hydrangeas. Eva and Stephen truly love this home and it shows. We were here during Hurricane Irene and Eva went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, as we were without power. She was very responsive and easy to get a hold of. You can walk to the beach (must check out the beach in the evening when the tide goes out, you can almost walk across to the other side), bike to the village, or go on a whale watch from the harbor. There is a nice restaurant and a clam shack type place where you can get fried fish, hot dogs, and ice cream - all only a street away. A wonderful location. The cottage was spotless and stocked with everything you need, including beach chairs, beach towels, and beach bags.Thank you again Eva and Stephen - we had a wonderful vacation!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My two girlfriends and I spent a week at Sonny's By the Sea. It was perfect for the three of us. Just the right size - and absolutely beautiful. This rental comes with more than just the basics. Items we wouldn't have thought to bring for ourselves were provided. So many little details were included - and perfect. It made our stay that much more special. I could live there forever. The house was very clean and the linens, bedding and furniture were in great shape. A little slice of heaven by the sea.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cottage was just the loveliest place to stay for our vacation on Cape Cod! As lovely and more than the photos portray. It was spotless, comfortable, newly renovated and very tastefully decorated. The owners have every convenience built in - including a washer/dryer, sofa bed, air conditioniong, deck leading to backyard with BBQ grill, beach chairs etc, etc. The owners were a pleasure, very helpful and eager to please. It's a great location. You can walk just around the corner to the beach and marina where you can get whale watching tours and have lunch, dinner and cocktails. It's a short drive to town, shopping, Hyannis and other attractions on the Cape. I plan on vacationing there again and would definitely recommend it to a friend or relativeRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My daughter, grandson and I spent two nights in this immaculate, charming cottage during April vacation, and none of us wanted to leave! My 6-yr old grandson was kept active and happy during the indoor hours because the owner had kindly provided lots of age-appropriate books and games. My daughter and I were blissfully happy because the sparkling kitchen had everything we needed, and the bedrooms and bathroom were clean, comfortable and beautiful. The owner was easy to reach when we had questions, and was very helpful. There were wonderful playgrounds nearby, which we visited three times in two days! (The beach was too cold and windy this early in the spring.) We are already longing to go back, and have recommended this cottage to a friend.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

The house was perfect- just as advertised, and very comfortable. I loved how even the practical items provided (beach bags, towels, etc) were stylish and fit the mood of the home. Eva was extremely helpful and friendly, offering tips and recommendations to make our stay more enjoyable. We rented a vacation home in Truro last summer and found out when we arrived that the photos were woefully out of date and the house was filthy. Worst of all, the owner was completely unresponsive. After that disappointment I especially appreciate how friendly and helpful Eva was. I highly recommend choosing this vacation home. It was a top-notch experience!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

It was a great pleasure to see that everything was just as I pictured it would be. The cottage was beautiful, brand spanking new and was equipped with everything we needed--except bathing suits. From watching the morning sun come through the living room window to sitting on the deck at night spotting shooting stars, I loved every minute there. And the sunsets over the beach were to die for. There was so much to do- or not to do. Whether we walked or drove a little bit we were able to explore the area to our hearts content. The most important thing though was that we found ourselves spending a lot of quality family time together here. When it was time to go we were tanned, relaxed and planning to be back here again next season, if not sooner.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Just got back from a last minute get-away with my 2 children. This cottage is immaculate, and absolutely adorable. Even the decor is perfect - the entire house is beach themed! The owners have thought of every detail, including extra toothbrushes in case you forget yours! Games and books for the kids, maps to local grocery stores, etc... House is located within a short walk to beach, and a 5 minute car ride to all the stores in Hyannis! We actually preferred the public beach to the private beach, as it had a defined swim area for the kids. It's only steps away as well...Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I found this home on the web and the pictures looked great. Had a great experience dealing with the owner and booked the home. The owners met us at the house and gave us a tour. The pictures look great, but seeing is believing! Everything is spotless and comfortable. We plan on taking a whale watch cruise next time. We have already recommended the home to family and friends.
