The house exceeded our expectations. It is a beautiful home and perfect for 2 couples. The closeness to the Black Sand Beach is an added bonus. The yard and Hana area are beautiful and we thoroughly enjoyed out stay in Hana. We did miss the flowers that others have commented on.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: I am so glad you enjoyed your stay. We apologize that you did not have a flower arrangement. Maui's Best Flowers had a busy Mother's Day and shipped all of their inventory. We look forward to hearing from you in the future.

I highly recommend anyone taking the Road to Hana stay at least one overnight. We stayed for two nights and would have been happy to stay another night. There's a lot to see and do, and this property is a great place for a home base. It's quiet, clean, well maintaned and attractive. I highly recommend the cottage - I know I'll be coming back!

You have to stay in Hana. If you took the time to read all the reviews (and you always should when deciding where to stay) then you know that there is no other place to stay in Hana. All that has been said is what made our decision so easy, and we could not have been happier right from the start of initiating the rental process. Jodi (our Hana Montana) thankyou so very much for doing such an amazing job of welcoming us to your "cottage" The fruit bowl with the mini bananas, the tropical flowers from Stacy (www.maiubest.com)so welcoming. Comfy beds, wonderful decor. Great explorations at the Park and Hamoa Beach. We did buy food before heading down to Hana and we BBQ'd each night. How perfect to have dinner on the lanai and wave so long to those who were leaving the park and had to drive back up the highway each day!!

Owner response: Thank you for letting me know of your experience at my cottage. It is so nice to know that people appreciate the location and the small additions we like to provide to make your stay more like home.

The property exceeded all my expectations - spacious, very well maintained, conveniently and tastefully furnished, and best positioned to be close to the Waianapanapa State Park (walking distance to the beach), and to the Hana Highway (less than 10 minutes of driving to get to any place in Hana). A garden with enormous grass lawn, surrounded by papaya, banana, lemon, coconut trees, various tropical flowers, and many others exotic plants I’d never known names of, is best viewed from the large elevated lanai with convenient chairs, table, and grill. In the morning, you can spot mongooses playing in the garden, and in the evening watch numerous geckos hunting bugs under the lanai roof. Counting them was one of the best parts for our kids! On the arrival, we were greeted with branch of rape bananas hanging from the porch, plate of exotic fruits, and the most beautiful bouquet of tropical flowers! Pictures of our teenage daughters with the bouquet will make a definite highlight of their Facebook timeline. We spent 4 nights in Hana, and can’t possibly imagine how people making one-day trip to Hana consider they’ve seen any of the island’s beauty. Our family loves traveling and exploring new places, and we’ve had enough to do every day of our stay. We would spend more time there if the vacation was any longer… All our family would love to return there again!

Lovely, clean home, tastefully decorated and very comfortable beds. We stayed during the Thanksgiving holiday, I roasted my turkey and 6-9am, then we hike the Pipwii Trail, came back to the cottage and had a wonderful Thanksgiving meal complete stuffing and pumpkin pie (thanks to Jodi's advice to stop at Costco's near the airport). I would recommend this cottage for at least 2 nights to really appreciate Hana and the beauty of Hawaii. Hope to return again.

The house was wonderful and had everything we could want in a great location to explore Hana and surrounding area. Family of 4 adults and 1 teen were very comfortable. The house even had San Francisco Giants local SportsNet channel so we could see all the World Series winning celebration on TV. (SF Giants won the World Series Sunday) Great spot to relax and enjoy the other side of Maui. Wonderful hikes from the house. Short drive to the fresh water pools at mile marker 48 too. Do not miss this great swim that was uncrowded when we visited. Very nice short steep hike to the large cross above Hana. Great food can be had from the many friendly people of Hana. There were many roadside stands selling BBQ Chicken etc. We did not go the either of the two formal restaurants. I would recommend this house as a great base to explore Hana area and to break up the drive. We continued to drive around the island clockwise and had no issues with the road. Just make sure you have at least half a tank when you leave Hana.

Nicely decorated (contemporary) place in Hana, near Wainapanapa State Park. Everything was clean exactly as described. Great communication from owner. Tips for trip to Hana: make frequent short stops even if it's raining so people in the back don't get car sick. Start before noon so you're not rushing.

My family and I (total of four people) stayed here one October night as a stopover during our drive through the Road to Hana. At first I was dubious about staying in Hana and was apprehensive about staying "in the middle of nowhere" as several people told me. But it was the perfect decision - trying to do the drive from Lahaina and back would have been way too much so I'm very glad we stayed here. The location itself is walking distance to Waianapanapa beach which was my favorite destination in Maui. The walk to the beach is an adventure within itself, as you will pass by tons of fruit trees and homes selling fruit on the side. The property is HUGE with several fruit trees. If I could be reincarnated as a house, this is the house I'd like to become - it's spotlessly clean, has lovely interior designing with wood floors, comfortable couches and beds, and luxurious bathrooms. The kitchen had everything we needed and the floor space was quite spacious. The place easily sleeps four, and my brother was partial to the huge couch in the living room. It may be a little scary to find the place at night as there are no street lights on the road, but the owner gives very good directions so we found it with little difficulty. The one negative is that there is no AC so when we entered the house it was incredibly hot, but that was quickly remedied by opening all the windows which have screens to keep out insects. The owner herself is incredibly nice and happy to give suggestions and advice which I appreciated. She was very responsive to my calls and e-mails. We were left fruit in a basket, including avocados about 6x larger than any I've ever seen, bananas, and many others. I would highly recommend this home as a place to stay if you would like to take your time doing the Road to Hana. We ended up driving back the way we came the next day, mainly because we wanted to soak up as much of the house as possible.

Owner response: I am so glad you chose to continue on to Hana! I love to hear the reaction of people's first visit to this amazing place! Thank you for your business!

This is a spacious, clean, conveniences available, centrally located, and comfortable home. I had not brought shampoo and bathrooms were equiped with necesities. There was laundry soap! Hanna is not convenient to get supplies and the cottage was stocked very well. Thanks!

My husband and I and our two sons stayed in this lovely home for two nights which was the end of our 10 day Maui vacation. After sharing a room for 7 nights, we were thrilled to have the space to spread out in this great home. We were thankful for the use of the washer/dryer as we packed light and needed clean clothes. The house was beautifully decorated including two gorgeous tropical floral arrangements done by a local florist! Jody, the owner, put together a great welcome book that included restaurant menus, where to go for grocery items and other lists of favorite spots in Hana to visit. The home felt cozy and private on a very large lot and close to the black sand beach at the state park. The beds were so comfortable and the living room was great for our family to enjoy movies in the evening on the large flat screen tv and the dvd collection provided. I wish we could have stayed at least three nights to really take more time in Hana. Thank you for allowing others to enjoy your beautiful home!

Wonderful house in Hana! This house has everything for you to be comfortable! Traffic does get a bit heavy on the road to Wainapanapa on the weekends, recommend you consider doing something away from the home for those days. Otherwise, it's a lovely place and very quiet for those looking to truly get away from it all! We recommend checking out the Hana cultural center and arts center near Hana Hotel. We also spent a lot of time on Hamoa Beach - probably the best beach in East Maui! Red Sand beach is also worth a visit!

We had a great time at this home just outside the entrance to the state park. Being only 5-10 minutes from Hana town center, it made it convenient to pick up groceries and visit the town. The house was fully furnished including all the eating and cooking utensils one could need. The house cools down quickly over this enormous property. It's definitely a beautiful and relaxing place to stay while you're in Hana.

My small family of three has visited Maui several times. We always enjoy our one day excursion to Hana. This time we decided to stay in Hana for three nights and we spent our stay in this lovely cottage. We were so surprised by how much we loved this place. It was clean, comfortable, and so relaxing. The grounds are beautiful, I picked mangos, papayas and found coconuts for us to enjoy every day. The location is perfect. You can easily get to all the main attractions and beaches around Hana. The front porch is a great place to sit out a rainstorm or enjoy a cup of coffee while taking in the beautiful sites and smells of of the area. We will surely be looking to stay here again the next time we come to the Island.

My husband and two children ages 10 and 13 enjoyed our stay in this perfect family home after our fun, adventurous drive on the "Road to Hana" (no one got car sick even though my youngest child is prone to that). It's a fabulous drive and everyone visiting Maui needs to do it at least once! We recommend stopping at Keanae for shave ice, snacks and beautiful views beside the crashing waves. When we arrived at this cozy house, we had two comfy beds, two well-appointed modern bathrooms, lovely fresh flowers and everything was very clean . The satellite-equipped big screen television was great after busy days of sight-seeing in the Hana area. The enormous yard gave us lots of privacy and an awesome place to throw a football, baseball or just run around. Or you can just relax on the covered lanai and take in the beautiful scenery! We didn't use the kitchen too much, but everything you need is provided. We enjoyed take-out dinners from the very popular Hana food truck, "Bruddah Hutt's" (former chef) located just past the Hasegawa General Store. DELICIOUS bbq pork ribs, chicken and super fresh ahi. From this house, you'll be literally a two-minute drive to the entrance of Waianapanapa State Park which is lovely: explore the cool black sand beach, blow hole, hiking trails and beach caves/pools. We also spent two afternoons boogie boarding and relaxing on the picturesque Hamoa Beach which is about a ten-minute drive from the house (continue through Hana Town). Finally, we left Hana by going on the south Maui road which was truly spectacular!!! We stopped at Oheo Gulch and Pipiiwai Trail (both located at the Haleakala State Park Visitors Center). Then a couple more stops at Kaupo General Store and the Tedeschi Winery (free wine tasting). The views are some of the best you'll see anywhere on Maui. The roads were perfectly fine with just one small section being totally flat, hard-packed dirt, nothing too bumpy or crazy like some books/blogs lead you to believe. Some parts are single lane with curves, but hey, that's what makes it so breathtaking!! Just take your time and don't drive like a maniac. Everyone we encountered was very courteous and careful. We had a rental Jeep and it was great. The drive was a HUGE highlight for our family. The drive takes you through rain forest then stark, volcanic desert and back to Upcountry ranch lands. It's truly amazing. Last but not least, the owner, Jody, was awesome to work with and we highly recommend staying at her Hana home!

This cottage has everything you need for a relaxing stay in Hana. The owners have worked hard to help visitors feel at home while sharing the beauty of the rain forest setting. The house is much more spacious than the pictures suggest. It is immaculately clean and well maintained. It's location is Ideal: private, yet close to all of the things that you'll want to explore. My wife and I have vacationed in Hana for more than 20 years and we found that Luana cottage provided us our most comfortable and enjoyable stay ever.

This lovely home is much bigger than the photos appeared . There was plenty of room and the home was very clean upon arrival. Thank you for the beautiful tropical arrangement! The property was very well maintained with lots of fruit trees and foliage. It was lovely to be able to sit out on the lanai and enjoy our coffee in the morning. The beds are very comfortable( which is very important to travelers) with nice linens and plenty of pillows . Everything was provided including laundry soap, dryer sheets, beach towels, shower soaps, and so much more. Too many to list. The location was superb! Easy walking distance to the beautiful beaches, caves, and within driving distance to Hana town. I would highly reccommend this property and we hope to be back very soon.

Our stay at Hana Cottage was perfect! The home was lovely, with a fresh Hawaiian flower arrangement when we arrived. We had plenty of room to spread out, and had everything we needed. The deck was perfect for breakfast in the morning and relaxing in the evening. The location was great - just a few minutes from Wainapanapa State Park and a short drive into Hana. It was our home away from home for more than a week, and the best vacation ever. So relaxing!
