Pappagallo, the Cabo Pulmo Eco Palapa, is a classic Baja palapa with palm roof and brick walls. Four bedrooms have 3 queen beds and a double with two baths. There is a large open living. kitchen, dining area that opens onto a large beach front patio Situated mid point on the thee miles of Playa Las Barracas, your beach has no public access except by foot so human traffic is very little and there is no motorized traffic except for monitoring the Green sea turtle nests found June into January. You will enjoy indoor/outdoor living in a comfortable, clean, rustic beach house setting.

You will enjoy some of the best sleeping conditions imaginable hearing the soft surf in the background.

You access Pappagallo through an arroyo/lagoon/oasisi system formed by storm water flowing off the mountains meeting the ocean behind a large spanse of beach dunes. There are no neighbors within 1/2 mile on either side and 15 homes on the whole beach. Several reefs are right here and the swimming is safe & enjoyable on this white sand beach.

You will enjoy the all natural surroundings, sea and mountain views in all directions and sunrises and sunsets that are spectacular. Dark skies make the star gazing an amazing activity enjoyed by all.

There are comfortable queen, double and twin beds, a futon Couch with flexibility of the arrangement to serve the needs of your group. The kitchen is complete but without oven. There is a gas grill on the courtyard that separates Pappagallo the Palapa Grande from the Eagle's Nest Casita, which can be rented separately. There are also a couple sleeping cabanas for overflow and flexibility.

You will be living off the grid with solar panels powering batteries that supply 120 AC power. This is backed up by a propane generator. One of the great benefits of off the grid living is that there are no lights left burning across the beach and valley so you are able to enjoy a sky filled with stars without any light pollution. The amazing high desert climate allows, favorable summer sea breezes and this architecture makes indoor/outdoor living exciting and affords a feeling of living close to nature. The atmosphere is rustic and out of doors and we constantly strive for squeeky clean accommodations.

So extremely disappointed - filthy, dilapidated accommodations complete with a coating of mouse droppings on everything, the "Eagle's Nest" directly above the communal kitchen and generator was loud and NOT relaxing! Total rip-off

Owner response: I apologized for 3 mouse droppings on the bathroom floor and they were removed in a few seconds. The quarters were very clean. The gen set is on for 10 to 15 minutes at a time for 3 or 4 times an evening before 9:00 at night. This is for the health of the batteries of a solar system providing lights and water for guests. The courtyard has a kitchen and grills for guests use. Everyone here appreciates the tranquility. Some body missed a great day for 3 little brown dots. What is appreciated here is the secluded beachfront and dunes landscape with all natural surroundings and no people or cars. This location provides cool breezes and sea sounds of the surf which makes for great sleeping. Indoor/outdoor living in this perfect climate offers a much appreciated opportunity to experience mother natures sights, sounds, plants and creatures. The stars are magnificent on this dark beach as well. Embracing Mother includes a hurricane once in a while and Chuck must have met his on the bathroom floor.

While it is a beautiful location, the Eagles Nest was too expensive for the condition it is in. We were greeted with mouse droppings in the bathroom, on the towels, and on the spare bed. The water container lever did not work, and the group kitchen was immediately below, so every word and conversation can clearly be heard. The information on the web is incomplete, and the pictures do not represent the property well. The main palapa appears nice, but the rest of the accommodations are marginal at best. Snorkeling at Cabo Pulmo is wonderful, and there are places in town that would be better to stay at than this place. I would encourage anyone considering staying here to find reviews on other web sites concerning this property, which I found after our stay (which we cut short).

Owner response: Chuck had such a bad day that he included two reviews so please see owner response to the other review. Please check out reviews on flipkey. Guests that enjoy communing with nature find these accommodations @ Cabo Pulmo Eco Palapa quite clean and comfortable and the solitary beach front and all natural surroundings inspiring. But watch out there is dead stuff washes up on the beach sometimes.

We were there in the dead of summer so we certainly felt the effects of being off grid. This was just what we wanted, though, so on night number 2 we just moved the cots out under the stars and had natural bliss! Bill and his team were so very welcoming. Cabo pulmo had our best snorkeling and diving by far! Dolphins, a turtle, fish Fish FISH!

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

For my family of 4, with kids 9 and 13 years old, Bill White's Eagle's Nest provided everything we needed to enjoy Baja's east cape. The adjacent beach right out front stretches miles either way and offered great swimming, snorkelling and long lazy walks. The lodging was very comfortable and provided fabulous views of the coast line, mountains and spectacular sunrises. It is well furnished with beds, tables, chairs, refregerator-freezer, hot/cold running water, toilet and shower, and has a very spacious feel to it. The kitchen is stocked with basic cookware and eating utensils, and charcoal/wood fire grills are available. The Eco Palapa/Eagle's Nest is a short driving distance from Cabo Pulmo and La Ribera. We found it very convenient to purchase fuel and groceries in La Ribera and enjoyed fine restaurant meals there and in Cabo Pulmo on occasion. Bill is very familiar with the territory and provided us with good advice and assisted us whenever asked. He has reliable Wi-Fi service and I recommend prospective guests bring a laptop or device to take advantage of this. We did not have a laptop with us, but for future trips I will bring one. I highly recommend the Eco Palapa and Eagle's nest for families and other travellers who are looking for the real Baja. My only regret about our week long stay is that it was way too short. Espero que nos vemos aca. Pat

Bill was an excellent host. The location and seclusion cant be beat. Its not a hotel, its not a luxury villa, but that's not what you're looking for if you're checking this place out. We were here with 2 grandparents, 2 parents, 2 kids (4 & 6) and had a great stay. Our kids had great time hassling Bill and his dog when they weren't scampering around the beach. The proximity to Pulmo, Arbolitos, and Los Frailes is great; we snorkeled almost every day. The palapa has all the essentials and Bill was always super helpful when we needed any thing. Rich

Reviewed March 14, 2011 We stayed for a week in the Eagle's Nest enjoying amazing views, especially sunrise. Every day we walked the beach and never saw another person. Despite some wind, the weather was fantastic. Even on the windy days we got in some great snorkeling at Los Frailles where I saw a turtle, a moray eel and tons of fish. There are several beautiful options for snorkeling on calm days. Alicia's in Cabo Pulmo is delicious for dinner. Grocery shopping is 13 miles north (on a good road.) The casitas have kitchens so you can cook, keep cold beer, etc. On a good night the owner, Bill makes fresh margaritas. We talked to another guest who took a fly casting lesson with Bill - she loved it. Stayed March 2011, traveled as a couple

Reviewed March 23, 2011 Myself and 3 friends stayed for 5 nights at the eagles nest. We are already discussing a return trip and highly recommend it to any folks traveling on a budget. The weather was perfect: 80's during the day, 60's at night, literally no clouds and best of all, no bugs. Eagles nest is situated on top of the garage with a 360 degree view of the east coast of Baja; 2 queen beds and a small kitchen make Eagles nest perfect for 2 couples. Don't expect the frills of other Cabo resorts, but the excellent location and low cost more than make up for what may be lacking in refinement.

"Amazing Place" Gorgeous Bungalows with an amazing view. Located in a secluded beach with nothing obstructing your view. I would strongly recommend it to people looking for a get away out of the busy popular beaches such as Los Cabos. Its great either for friends or for couples due to the romantic scenery, just consider that there isn't much privacy between rooms if that's a factor you consider important. Anyway, Bill is a great host who would join you on your daily activities or would get out of your way and wont even notice him arround if you want him to. Bill has a kayak and snorkels for the adventurers and there's a really good chance you will see whales during the first months of the year plus a few sealions all yaer long among alot more wildlife.

3-25-'11 "Quiet Beauty, Relaxation. Just what the doctor ordered." Just like the old story of the man dying of thirst in the desert, approaching an oasis that is a mirage, we stumbled upon this unbelievable gem on accident when we thought we could travel no further. We had driven 5 days from California to the southern tip of Baja only to find our accommodations were under construction. We were prepared for camping, but the winds were high and the nights were cold making things difficult for us. We were exhausted and didn't know where to go. Bill has the coolest signs up from the road beckoning folks like us to drive in and take a peek. We took a chance, followed his signs, and I'm so glad we did. I got a very good feeling about the place immediately, but it wasn't until the 2nd day that the sounds of the birds and the ocean finally pushed the thoughts out of my head. 3 days and 2 nights thoroughly cleansed and healed any bruises we picked up along our way. I would have like to stay longer. I would recommend staying longer. The place is gorgeous. Bill keeps it immaculate by Mexico standards, for sure! I was very impressed with how resourceful he must be to have built it and keep it looking the way it does. The best part is his stretch of beach. It's amazing to dive in the ocean and swim towards antarctica. The water is safe enough to swim in, snorkel, surf, go fishing, anything that suits your fancy! Oh and the stars. Incredible shooting stars and falling stars. Oh and the whales. Theres whales out there in March! I plan on going back in a couple years by myself when I need to get away from everything. I feel very fortunate to have found this place and will never forget it. Thanks Bill! Love Cara

                  Year Purchased: 2000

About the owner: I'm an Inn keeper and flyfishing guide living here for over 6 years (owning this property 13 years). I previously owned Telluride Outside an outdoor activities company in Telluride CO- (rafting, fly fishing, mountain biking, jeep tours, snowmobile tours). Since 1978 I've owned & rented lodging properties. I'm here due to a superb high desert climate with little humidity and cool breezes off the ocean all through the summer. The amazing range of activities including fishing, diving, snorkeling, beach combing, wind sports, kayaking, mountain biking, bird watching, hiking and living among an amazing array of flora and fauna is a highlight of being here too.

Why the Owner Chose Cabo Pulmo:
Only here will you enjoy the Cabo Pulmo Marine Park on a remote point centered on a secluded 3 mile beach surrounded by mountains. Enjoy a humidity and bug free climate with cool ocean breezes allowing you full enjoyment of 230 degree ocean views and 135 degree mountain views as well as a wonderful beach for many activities. No public access and park enforcement of rules mean no vehicles are on the beach and very few people as well. The privacy is a rare commodity on this planet of 7+ billion today. The property sits on 5 acres, ΒΌ mile from the beach road so those sounds are greatly diminished.

The Unique Benefits at this Villa:
World class diving & snorkeling , fishing, fly fishing kayaking, wind sports, hiking, beach combing, mountain biking and wildlife. The quiet side of solitary living in all natural surroundings with only the surf, sea breeze, bird life and slap of rays on the water as well as star gazing enhanced by all dark surroundings.
