We have a variety of activities all within 30 miles depending on your likes. Shawnee Hills Wine Trail, Shawnee Bluffs Zip Line, Giant City State Park, Rock Climbing and Bike Trails. For those a little less adventurous or looking to get away from the busyness of the city life, we have a great wrap-around front porch and fire pit. Bring a book or borrow one of ours and relax while enjoying the wildlife and starry skies.

 

Owner info

About the owner: My husband grew up helping his grandfather farm the land that surrounds the farmhouse. Which inspired a love of working in the fields. He now owns and operates an Automotive Repair business. In his spare time he takes care of mowing that gives him the opportunity to still work in the fields. I was a stay-at-home mom while our kids were home. After they started school I needed something to keep me busy so kept friends and neighbors kids. When we had a decision to make about what to do with the farmhouse we decided to try renting it. Now I take care of the house and see to the comfort and needs of our guests.

Why the Owner Chose Carbondale:
We opened our house to the public in 2007. Not wanting to see it set up on the hill and deteriorate from non use we decided to turn it into a rental so we could share the beauty of the old house. This house has been in our family since 1942 and was only owned by one other family before ours. Stories are told that part of the lumber used to build the house came from a mill that was set up on the property that we now live on.

The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
I fell in love with the farmhouse the first time my husband & I went to a family Christmas gathering. It has character that is unmatched by any new home. Most all of our guests say it reminds them of their 'grandmas'.
