'Incandescence' - 5BR Decorator Home, Sweet Private Cottage, or Both!
- Minimum stay:Contact owner

- Pets allowed:Yes
- Wheel chair accessible:No
The moment you drive up the circular shell driveway and see the stonework, gardens and wrap-around farmers’ porches, you're going to feel all the comfort and delight of being at your own dream home. From sunrise flooding the breakfast area until the last rays of the sun set over the moors, the entire house glows with the beauty of Nantucket’s ever-changing light. Custom built and brimming with unique architectural details and appointments of the highest quality, it is a house sophisticated enough for entertaining but comfortable enough to just kick off your flip flops, put on some music and relax after a tough day at the beach. “Incandescence” is decorated in a warm English country style with plenty of antique pine and chintz and a collection of vintage Ralph Lauren linens. And although this large house comfortably sleeps 12, it is chock full of unpretentious places, intimate spaces, and the quirky little hideaways that make a classic Nantucket home linger forever in your memory.
The Bedrooms and Baths
'Incandescence' is spacious enough for two or even three families to vacation together. Each of the five bedrooms has its own beautifully tiled en suite bath, and there are two half baths off the 'public' rooms.
The huge master bedroom on the second floor boasts a private covered balcony and a spa-sized, luxurious, tumbled-marble bath with a jacuzzi tub, from which there are beautiful views across Tom Nevers and out to sea. The master bath also has his & her sinks and a large two-person, glass-enclosed shower with double shower-heads and multiple wall jets.
Two of the bedrooms on the first floor - one with a king bed, and one with a full/double plus a futon that opens to another full/double - are off a large, private, tiled hallway. Both bedrooms are large (particularly the king), and could easily serve as second 'masters.' Another bedroom - with two twin beds (which can be made up as one king, on reqest) - is off the living area. The fifth bedroom with a queen bed is on the second floor.
The 'Living' Areas
The living room features cathedral ceilings, high gable windows, a wood burning fireplace, and French doors out to the deck, which is equipped with table, chairs, umbrella, gas grill and an outdoor shower. A wonderful gourmet kitchen with butter-yellow glazed cabinetry, limestone counters and stainless steel appliances awaits your culinary flair; an open floor plan to the large dining area allows hosts and guests to feel equally at home. Off the kitchen is a charming, inviting family room with stereo, a brand-new 47' flat-screen TV and games for the whole family, plus a gas-fired fireplace to take the chill off those late summer nights. Air conditioning, cable, high speed Internet, and WiFi allow you to remain comfortable and stay in touch, even on the “Far Away Land.”
The Location
Located in Tom Nevers, minutes from the Ocean, the bike path into town, a shuttle bus stop, and a short five minute drive into Siasconset, this brand new home allows easy access to all the pleasures of Nantucket summers even while sitting serenely on 3 private acres. There are lovely distant ocean views from the second and third floors. From the easily accessed widow’s walk, enjoy views of the South Shore, the Cranberry Bogs, Low Beach and Sankaty Lighthouse. Pull up a rocking chair on the front porch, grill the day’s catch on the back deck barbecue, enjoy outdoor games in the spacious backyard, and delight in the best of Nantucket!

Great house and owners, very easy to deal with and the house was exactly as described. Great yard for outdoor activities, and a lot of space in the main area of the house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We were thrilled with this lovely, expansive home close to Tom Nevers beach. We needed a property that could accommodate 10 of us comfortably and this fit the bill perfectly. The owners were gracious and attentive to our needs which impressed us greatly. We loved the location since it was very private yet only took us three minutes to get to the beach. There were no crowds and plenty of parking. It was almost like having a private beach of one's own. Having a rental on as much land as this one is made us feel like we were in our own private compound yet we were really only about 4 miles away from town. Home had all the modern conveniences that we needed and we particularly loved the deck and yard. Would definitely return!Owner response: Thank you for your kind words of appreciation. I'm so glad you mentioned the proximity to the beach and how much you enjoyed it. Many people are familiar with Surfside and Jetties but don't know or forget that there are a lot of other beautiful beaches on the island, including the one just down the road from our house (Tom Nevers Beach) which is both unspoiled and uncrowded. Thank you for being terrific guests. Ron and I took delight in your delight! We look forward to hosting you and your family again.

We loved this warm, beautiful, spacious Nantucket classic. My wife and I stayed with six other adults in this large, very comfortable home. It is located in a very quiet, relaxed area but with easy access to both town and to the beach. The home was very comfortably decorated and the homeowners were exceptionally gracious. The kitchen was large and modern. The family room was very inviting, comfortable with a big screen TV. All of the bedrooms were large with comfortable beds. I would unequivocally recommend this house for a couple, group or a family. Outstanding!Recommended for: Families with young children, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you Steve and Nancy for your kind words here and in our guest book. We are so happy that you had a wonderful birthday celebration with your friends, and that you all enjoyed the house, and especially the down comforters and feather bed. You were lovely guests. Please come back and stay again anytime.

Owner info
About the owner: We welcome you to 'Incandescence,' a lovely and spacious house that Ron and I designed, built and decorated, and completed in 2010.
Why the Owner Chose Tom Nevers (Tom Nevers Pond):
Ron chose this property because it is a lush, beautiful, 3 acre parcel with distant ocean views, affording privacy and at the same time easy access to everything Nantucket has to offer. A builder on the island for 20 years, this is the fourth (and largest) house that Ron has built in Tom Nevers.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
There's nothing quite like the light that plays off the dramatic interior architecture. It is truly extraordinary, morning and afternoon and especially as the day draws to a close, and is why we named the house 'Incandescence.'
When venturing out, I love to spend an afternoon in 'Sconset, which is less than five minutes away. There, you can park your chair on the beach, catch some rays, read a good book, and when you get hungry, leave everything there and walk up the stairs from the beach right into the middle of the quaintest, most charming village. There's a sandwich shop and a general store with all kinds of good things, including the most delicious coconut and ginger ice creams! Then take a stroll around and look at some of the rose-covered cottages -- all framed by the sparkling blue sea. It's a lovely way to spend a day!
