The house is an ideal base for all that PEI has to offer. It is located on the favored north shore, only 15 minutes from the airport and 20 minutes from Charlottetown, in almost an acre of natural waterfront with glorious views across Brackley Bay to the sand dunes of the National Provincial Park. The house has 4 large bedrooms that comfortably sleeps 8, 2 full bathrooms including an en suite to the master bedroom and 2 half bathrooms - an en suite to loft whilst the second is on the ground floor, a comfortable lounge, separate formal dining area, fully fitted kitchen with dishwasher plus dining area, separate laundry room and a wraparound covered deck with screened-in area to watch the sunsets over a glass of wine whilst the food cooks on the gas barbecue.
Nearest beach 5 minutes by car and 10 golf courses within 5-30 mins drive. Furnished throughout with stylish and comfortable furniture and fittings to make a memorable vacation for families and couples.
Golf
It is no small feat when Canada's smallest province becomes Canada's Number One Golf Destination, and PEI has earned the distinction twice in a row. For new and experienced golfers alike, Prince Edward Island offers a golfing experience not to be missed with more than 30 courses to fit every skill level - from scenic nine hole courses to those rated among the top 10 in Canada!
A 5 minutes drive from Somerset House is Stanhope, a professionally maintained and mature 18 holes consisting of satisfying par 3s, long par 4s and par 5s where birdies are possible. Playing alongside the scenic Covehead Bay the ocean breezes can contribute to an interesting round.
Check out the PEI golf map and you will find a further 10 courses within 10-20 minutes drive, close enough to have a round in the morning, pop home for lunch before moving on to another course in the afternoon. Beaches
Prince Edward Island is blessed with 800 kms (500 miles) of the warmest beaches north of the Carolinas. Every one of the 90 sandy strips of heaven is unique. Some spill into the ocean with characteristic red sand. Others sparkle white and pink. On some beaches the sand is so fine that it makes a squeaking noise when you step on it, which is why Islanders often refer to it as 'singing sands'.
The nearest beaches to Somerset House are Brackley Beach and Stanhope (complimentary pass) - even in high season there is so much space you will have no trouble laying down your towel or putting up your beach chairs. Children will enjoy the clear waters, making sand castles or sand walls at the waters edge to hold back the waves, while the adults will enjoy walking for hours in bare feet, watching the birds and tracking the tides. Or everyone can simply enjoy the sheer pleasure of jumping waves. And at the end of the day, there is no finer place to watch the sunset or gaze up at the stars.

We stayed here with 3 other couples and we all really liked this home. The setting is beautiful and soooooo relaxing. The view out the back of the house is great. The beds were quite comfortable and the furnishings were very nice. There were adequate linens, kitchen supplies, etc. All bedrooms are upstairs. The garage was a bonus for us to store our motorcycle trailers in while there. It is an easy drive to Charlottetown and a nice location for going to any area of the island. The only down side for one of the men in our group was that there is not high-speed internet available in this area (which may change) and the dial up was not compatible with the computer that he brought along. If you want action at your fingertips, this may not be the place for you. The nearest grocery store is in Charlottetown, but there are convenience stores that are closer. When we were there, the property was being managed by someone other than the owner. Not sure if that is the norm. We would all recommend this place.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
