Upon arrival,I asked where were the restrooms.....discovered the closest bathroom to the lobby was on the second floor ....nice walk up beautiful stairs....added to this first impression....a smell that reminded me of a cheap air freshened ......at the elevator( only 2).we discovered the building was a Haven each year for northern families to visit for Winter Break......the hotel was completely invaded by families.....never get a elevator .....pool seen was a joke....mothers would take over chairs early each morming....my wife never enjoyed the pool.....I did twice .....the best thing ....Shulers......great food ....ceasar salads......our unit was not equipped to cook..only plates and glasses seemed to be left from roomservice !!!!....next unit was installing TiLE.....starting at 9 each morning.....tack...tack....,tack.....lasted maybe 5 days....saw only 2 roaches .....hall rugs had "food" and stains.....my reason for leaving this is to save someone $$$$ and vacation time ...and suggest asking owner more questions......owner can't correct some of my issues...but they should have said something about the "winter break".....we never would have stayed here..some family vacationing might enjoy..this was just my wife and me......both felt "out of place"...we were in the minority ....to loads of unfriendly folks...the staff while there wonderful ..fast and friendly valet guys..Shuler's staff were outstanding......fun Tiki Bar.enjoyed 3 to 5 happy hour .....wings ....especially good.I'm really sorry I'm writing this.......forgot ....my wife left sunglasses and cosmetic ....the Alexander has yet to return her call.......Owner response: the guest came during winter school break at which time all the hotels along the beach are booked with families. The Alexander just being one among many but has the distinction of having suites comparable to large apartments as opposed to the one room often found in most hotels. The owner had turned away many requests in accommodating this guest and had no reason to assume the guest was not aware of winter break or even partaking in it. The only comment concerning the unit itself was incorrect. The kitchen is stocked with sufficient pots pans stemware silverware etc to be able to function as you would in your own home. Its a mandatory hotel requirement to maintain those standards and if anything was lacking which I doubt the floor supervisor would have either shown them where it was or given them anything they needed. The suite is given the highest rating by the hotel which inspects it every time a guests departs.

I plan on making this my retirement home in a few yrs. It has all the amenities & comforts to provide for luxurious living . The location is near S. Beach & Bal Harbor shops. Walking distance to Fountainblue & Eden Roc hotels & boardwalk
