This was our second year at John & Collette's fabulous getaway and we hope to get back there again! The place is spotless, spacious and quiet. The patio is the best spot to enjoy your morning coffee, with the ocean splashing on the rocks right in front of you. Good Harbor Beach is right down the road and walking out to Salt Island at low tide is a must do. The restaurants in the area are some of the best we have been to with the tastiest Clam Chowder ever! We would recommend this place to anyone looking for relaxation, privacy and that perfect getaway. C & S VermontDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We cannot say enough about the beauty of this property! Enjoyed the sound of waves nightly as you fall asleep. Enjoyed waking up to coffee on the patio and watching the waves crash and boats fishing. Short 4 minute walk to Good Harbor beach. We enjoyed Whale watching. John's advice was so helpful. We found local stores and farm market very easily. Enjoyed going to Rockport to enjoy the scenic veiws from there. Took short drive into Salem to see the sites. The property is very Scenic and relaxing. The veiw alone from just setting on the sofa watching tv as you look out the patio doors onto the ocean was amazing. JUST GORGEOUS REALLY!!! John and Collete couln't have been nicer!!! Best vacation we ever had and would love to come back again!!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+.

We appreciated, first of all, the cleanliness. Spotless. The apartment was comfortable and I am still missing the sound of the waves as I fall asleep. It was great fun watching the lobster men (and women ) every morning, lovely to watch the birds dive for food and "hang out" on Salt Island; and we even enjoyed watching the raccoon walk across our patio each night at the same time, on his way to someplace else. John and Collete could not have been nicer. We whale watched and took scenic drives and visited Rockport and LOVED the Cape May Museum. We also sat on the well furnished patio and watched the waves come in and go out, come in and go out, come in.... :-) This is a lovely place to stay. It has a good beat and I give it a 10!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

We have rented this scenic property in the summer for 20 years. We have thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful location and the very well maintained apartment. It is right on the ocean and immediately accessible to beautiful Good Harbor beach. It is also located close to downtown Gloucester and neighboring historic towns. The owners have always been excellent hosts and we will be back again for the 21st year next summer. We can hardly wait !!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Wow, We loved this "home away" on the coast. We had planned to go into Boston every day, but only did Boston one day. There was a lot to do and see on Cape Ann. Absolutely beautiful!! John and Colette very friendly and helpful - also a big plus. We weren't disappointed in any of our accommodations, etc. If given another opportunity, we will return. Enjoy sunrise and sunset from the patio - we did. Linda and Steve Camano Island, WashingtonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

I spent a week in this beautifully situated apartment. Views of the ocean, with Salt Island, the rocks below and Good Harbor Beach off to the right are first rate. An easy walk to Good Harbor and very well located for the sights of Gloucester and Rockport. Very good value for money.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

I cannot speak highly enough of this lovely little hideaway. My husband and I brought my 92 year old mother with us, and we were ALL delighted with it. The basement apartment is quiet, clean, and well equipped. We enjoyed easy access to the beach and especially loved sitting on the patio watching and listening to the sparkling waves as they lapped against the rocks just below us. The view was “picture perfect”. We liked watching the beach-goers walk across the sandbar to Salt Island at low tide. All of the local activities, restaurants, and batiks being just a short drive away, we thought this was the perfect location. The owners are lovely folks; friendly and helpful. They even provide a handy three-ring binder filled with information on a plethora of local activities and restaurants. Staying here was so much more pleasant than staying in a motel. We would love to return next year.Recommended for: Age 55+.

This spacious two-bedroom apartment provided a great vacation spot. At high tide the ocean is wonderfully close to the patio (just past the rocks). We loved watching the lobster boats, the ducks and other birds, and the surf. At low tide we walked to Salt Island several times. The walk to Good Harbor beach is a short one, easy to carry our beach gear without having to worry about beach parking. The owners were wonderful and very helpful. The house is in a beautiful neighborhood, it was interesting to see how builders incorporate the rocks into their homes. We did cook a little in the well-appointed kitchen, but mostly took advantage of the great Gloucester restaurants. One day we got take out from the Causeway restaurant and brought it back to the apartment so we could eat with the fantastic view.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, people with disabilities.
Owner response: We are so pleased to hear how much our guests have enjoyed their stay. We provide pamphlets, magazines and other information about the activities and restaurants in the area. The Causeway is a great casual seafood and Italian restaurant. Bringing the meal back here is a great idea. We appreciate this favorable review because this is our first year with Home Away. We have received happy reactions from our guests for 30 years of renting this little piece of heaven on our own. Some guests come again and again- one couple for 20 years. We enjoy meeting and seeing again everyone
