Our home feels like a great secluded quiet get-away but is only 3 blocks to the Village. We've spent the past 4 years remodeling it with clean, simple, uncluttered lines. The home has great light, high ceilings, and a large, open floor plan with the living room, dining room, kitchen, and outdoor patio flowing into each other for great inside/outside entertaining. This main patio has a gas grill, outdoor dining table, and lots of comfortable seating.

The Master Bedroom has a queen bed, private bath, and an extra sink in the bedroom with a view to the garden. The 2nd bedroom has a queen bed with a piano, TV, and work desk in the room. The 3rd bedroom on the 3rd floor has a queen bed with a great attached deck and views of the ocean. The 4th bedroom has a twin bed.

There are two offices. One is private and has an exterior patio with views to the front garden and a small TV. The other is a pass through room and has a double pull out sofa bed, small TV, and attached deck. There are 4 full bathrooms.

The location is walking distance to cafes, restaurants, museums and shopping. The beach is a 20 minute walk away. There is plenty of street parking. Sea world, downtown, the airport, and Balboa Park are about a 20 minute drive away.

We've got the basic bicycles, umbrella, boogie board, tennis rackets, etc. for your play days.

Keywords: home, quiet, comfortable, many separate outdoor spaces, good for kids and pets.

The day I flew out of Boston, a blizzard left my plane on the runway for four hours. When I eventually pulled up to this house in La Jolla, I didn't see much. A wooden fence that's mostly covered with vines. But once you get inside the gate, hidden away is a lovely house, with beautiful light pouring in though huge windows. It was so relaxing with that California sun, and the blizzard was forgotten right way. I was in town mostly for work, and it was easy to drive to UCSD, Salk, or any biotech on Torrey Pines Mesa. For play, this house would be perfect for two families. There is enough room, spread over multiple levels, for kids to play inside and outside, and for adults to relax. A bike road down to the beautiful coast was 5 minutes. You can drive anywhere in the Village nearby, but why would you? The location is wonderful. It's easy to walk down to the VIllage for a restaurant, to the market to pick up fruit, or the wine shop to pickup drinks. One reviewer complained about construction next door, but that looks complete. It was really quiet and lovely while I was there. When I come back to La Jolla, I will definitely consider staying here again. Maybe even as soon as this summer.

We recently returned from a week and a half break in lovely La Jolla. The Cabrillo home was just the antidote to the bustling city life we are used to! Every morning, we woke to the sounds of chirping birds, a cool breeze, and blue skies - ah bliss! It was a treat to not hear the sound of traffic! The various outdoor patios were excellent for morning tea, afternoon naps, or watching the sunset over La Jolla. The house is quite spacious, (plenty of places to seek solace with a book from the home's library) and the kitchen well-equipped, if cooking is your thing! For the most part, we took advantage of the close proximity to the dining options in La Jolla Village – so many options, and all within walking distance, so we hardly used the rental car. We often enjoyed a pleasant walk, through the neighbourhood, down to the beach, stopping at Vons en route, for water and treats. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on Cabrillo Avenue and plan to stay there again next spring!

For a long break this was wonderful and our best ever visit to California. A great location and a really safe friendly place with such delightful owners who made us feel so at home. We were put at ease instantly with great advice and our long stay started on day one with good suggestions and a friendly welcome. If I were to have one small criticism the builders finishing off works to the house next door were a bit noisy, but that is just finishing so I suppose that is a bit unfair as the problem will have gone by now. My favourite was the proximity to the beautiful coast and the bad habit we developed of strolling down to the coast early in the morning for a long walk, past the seals, pelicans and amazing wildlife, before calling into a cafe for fresh orange juice, coffee and Caroline's cafe is really good - give it a try. The accommodation is modern, clean and and so light and cheerful. This last couple of months has refreshed and revitalised us and with all the good food from restaurants and seafood to die for I lost no weight ( try the salmon burgers from El Pescador) we used to get food to take out and drove up to the picnic area at the hang glider point - try it just before sunset. We just loved this place. We needed somewhere for an extended work stay in San Diego and this home in La Jolla was perfect. I was having a hard time finding something that fit what I was looking for, and this had everything I wanted: open floor plan, high ceilings, tons of natural light, total seclusion, two offices, immaculately maintained, fantastic location, and MODERN. I had to drive around San Diego a lot and also work at home a lot while there, and this house was perfect for both. In 5 minutes I could either drive to the freeway or walk to get a coffee. The best part was how quiet it was even though it was in the village. The ample parking was also an unexpected plus as I found out many houses areas in La Jolla have restricted or difficult parking issues. And the owner was accommodating and gracious. We had such a wonderful time there and I have such great memories of relaxing in the house, taking nightly walks around the neighborhood and curling up on the couch at night watching TV. This was definitely the most "vacation-like" work trip we've ever had. We'll rent this home each time we come to San Diego, and I can’t wait till next time. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs to work or play in the La Jolla or San Diego areas.

Dear VRBO, My family and I believe this was our best vacation rental home yet.  The owners were extremely accommodating and helpful - always available to answer questions and set us up with the Pack and Play right away.  The neighborhood was so nice yet so close to everything and had plenty of available parking.  We especially loved the walk to the Farmer's Market on Sunday mornings to shop for our weekly vegetables and have our son play at the playground there.  The house was quiet, light, and relaxing with a great collection of books and music.  The use of the toys, beach chairs, bikes, etc. was really appreciated also.  We definitely look forward to staying here again each year. About the owner: I'm an architect that's originally from California but was living and working in Chicago before moving here. While I've enjoyed working on our home in La Jolla, I've also been loving this weather that's so conducive to going to the beach and playing tennis a lot. T-Bone (shown in photo) also loves his walks in the neighborhood in the evening and especially his trips up to dog beach in Del Mar (20 minute drive up the coast.)

Why the Owner Chose La Jolla Village:
We choose La Jolla as our home because we wanted a walking lifestyle. We especiaily love the local coffee shop that's a 5 minute walk away. When we do drive, most everything we need is 20 minutes or less away.

The Unique Benefits at this House:
It's really quite quiet at night.
