This beautiful, spacious home made my stay in Venice "beary" enjoyable. The private outside patio is ideal for enjoying a tasty lunch in the Italian sunshine. There's even a well!

Inside, the apartment is decorated with an antique Italian charm and there are plenty of interesting and informative books and maps that definitely come in handy for getting around the city. There are also all the amenities that made our stay easier including washer/dryer, dishwasher, fax machine, and television.

The apartment was only a short 5 minute walk to the nearest Vaporetti (waterbus) station. From there, we could do everything that Venice has to offer: cruising the shops around the Rialto bridge, strolling through Piazza San Marco, eating plenty of pizza and gelato, and basking in the sunshine on the beaches of Lido. I was "beary" happy that I found this place!

  We love staying in your apartment! Can't believe we have been here nearly a week - how time flies! We've had wonderful tours, lots of fabulous dinners and lots and lots of walking. I'm sorry we have not had the chance to meet you, but maybe next time. We will leave the apartment by 8 a.m. tomorrow (Saturday) to catch train to Florence. We will strip beds, wash dishes, clean out refrigerator and put out trash. This has been such a lovely week. Thank you again for all your help, Sue

  Hi Margherita just a note to let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your apartment last week we had a wonderful time absorbing all the wonderful art and culture of the magical city. The location was perfect and so peaceful. The apartment had every thing we needed and was very comfortable we could not have wanted for more. Maria greeted us so thank you so much.   Our family of 6 (siblings and their spouses) enjoyed this apartment for a week during October. We were delighted with the friendly support offered by the owner and with the apartment itself. Large and beautifully furnished with antiques and art, the apartment is also comfortable and very peaceful. The courtyard and small private garden are lovely. Located in our favorite area of Venice, the apartment is convenient to tourist attractions but away from their crowds, noise, and bustle. It is also a beautiful area. We often went to the zattere in the evening to watch the sun go down over the horizon and stunning churches across the water. The appliances are fairly new and everything is well maintained. The beds are comfortable and bathrooms modern. Although we occasionally used the nearby supermarket, we most often took the vaporetto to the excellent Rialto open market to purchase fresh and high quality fish, meat, bread, fruit and vegetables. What fun! Within walking distance there is also an open market and a good small shop for meat near/in Campo Margherita. Transportation from the airport is easy with the water taxi. The apartment is just steps away from the stop, yet back away from it on a quiet courtyard. The vaporetto is convenient to the train and bus stations as well as to San Marco, boats to Murano, Burano, etc. Regarding San Marco and other tourist sites, we most often walked there. Doing so was quite enjoyable and allowed us to discover many of Venice's hidden charms.

  Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing.

  Location, location, location! This apartment located at the Zattere in the Dorsoduro is in a prime spot if you want access to all the famous places in Venice, but also want a quiet area that is away from the hustle and bustle of thousands of tourists. We loved being able to walk to any of the famous sights while having fun exploring canals and communities (be prepared to get lost!). Close by are vaporetto stations which will take you to neighboring islands such as Lido, Murano, Burano and others. Also convenient is a local, small supermarket, "Billa," which is very convenient in stocking the apartment for meals when you just want to lay back, stay home to eat and feel like a local! We found the apartment spacious and charming. When we did run into a problem, Margherita was as close as a phone call away and quickly responded to our concerns. We were especially pleased with the bedrooms and baths and the convenience of having a washer and dryer. Also important to us was the availability of WiFi which allowed us to keep in touch with family. The apartment has all the conveniences a family would need for a short or long stay in Venice. Our trip to Venice was most memorable, and we hope to have the good fortune to return to this apartment and the Dorsoduro in the near future.

  Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

The combination of beautiful traditional style with absolutely up to date facilities was exactly what we had wanted. In fact your place is very like our house in France in that respect - even down to the double doors!   COMMENT from June 3th to August 3th 2007 Dear Margherita, We were fortunate enough to stay in your apartment for 1 month in the summer of 2007. We also spent three months in Venice later that same year, in another apartment - because yours was not free - and so we have a real familiarity with the city and a basis for comparing your apartment with other locations. Yours wins hands down! The location in eastern Dorsoduro is the best in the city: it is quiet, and one appreciates the rarity of quietness in Venice when one spends time there; also it is right next to the Zattere, on the open water, looking out toward Giudecca. Walking along the Zattere and inhaling the fresh marine air gives a sense of openness and exhilaration that is hard to find in this crowded city. And in case visitors who don't know the city think that it is too far away because it is not right next to St Mark's Square, they should know that Venice is very small, and that your apartment has ready access to everything. I also enjoyed meeting you, and appreciated your helpfulness with everything that arose, as well as your care in creating a book of directions and to-do's that made finding things - like the supermarket - much easier. Not all Venetian landlords are as charming or considerate. Don Webley

  We had the great good luck to be able to live in this apartment for over 8 months! We recommend it to anyone who wants have the feeling of "living" in Venice--even if you only stay a few days. The apartment is the ground floor of a two-family house that has been in this family for generations. It was renovated as a weekend house for the owners, therefore, it is very much a family home, with modern bathrooms and kitchen. It is furnished not with IKEA junk (like most rental apartments in Venice), but instead with old pieces of furniture and nice art. The result is an elegant but homey apartment. The large living room, sala and master bedroom have large windows on the small walled garden. The garden is furnished for outdoor eating and has an ancient well. The apartment is one dead-end block off the Zattere, the main walking street along the Giudecca Canal--the widest and most beautiful canal in Venice. The Zattere is one of the few places in Venice where one can actually stroll along a canal--as well as find a grocery store and other necessities of life. Real Venetians live here. It is removed from the tourist hub bub, but is still only a short walk and one vaporetto stop from the Piazza San Marco. The apartment is well ventilated and has a modern heating and cooling system, so it does not feel humid or musty. This can be a problem in Venice. It is also high enough off the canal so highwater does not reach the apartment. One advantage for us was the fact that the owners speak excellent English. Although we are working on our Italian, it was wonderful to speak to someone who could really understand and answer your quesitons, especially for such a long stay like ours. The apartment was perfect for us and I still feel it was a privilege to stay there. Perhaps it will work for you too. In any event, have a wonderful time in Venice.
