Located in the village of Madison, and described as 'a hidden gem of a beach resort in Connecticut that offers a taste of Nantucket much closer to home.' NY1's Travel reporter Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.
'Nantucket Island is no longer a day of travel away - its salty New England flavor can be found in Madison, Conn. This manicured town located on Long Island Sound will delight anyone who is a fan of Nantucket, located a few hours further east.
The fact that Madison is closer and cheaper than Nantucket should make it easier for purists to forgive the comparison.
Enjoy Madison's sandy beaches, world class book store (RJ Julia), and art cinema, excellent school systems (if renting from Sept to June), yet proximity to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun Casinos, Mystic Seaport, Yale, Museums, highly rated New Haven Restaurants, the Thimble Islands, Essex, Lyme art academy and Museum and other Connecticut River towns, Chamard vineyards, and the shopping outlets in neighboring Clinton, and Westbrook, CT

We sat on the porch all day and took walks in the neighborhood every day and went to town and the shops were so nice. There were plenty of resurants near by that we ate at,and the food was great! The owner was so very helpful with anything we needed , or needed to know!I would recommend this great home for any get away or family gathering.I wish we could have stayed all summer and we are looking foward to going back next year for 2 weeks!Highly recommend!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers.

We LOVED our stay in this relaxing, spacious beach house. The views are gorgeous and you are right on the water! We enjoyed fishing, swimming, playing tennis and riding our bikes along the beach and into town. The house was beautifully decorated and had everything we needed. It is the perfect size and setup for entertaining and for watching Madison's 4th of July fireworks. We loved sitting on the porch in the evenings watching the moonlight on the calm waters of the sound. Our son met many lovely children living in the surrounding neighborhood. We hope to make it back again soon! Jane and Harlan ReinigerDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This house was a truly amazing find...everything we were looking for and more. The location was an ideal spot to relax, take in the spectacular views and watch the world go by while sitting on the beautiful front porch...or from any room for that matter. Waking up and looking out at the ocean was such a treat. The handsomely-decorated bedrooms were quite spacious and very comfortable. We were delighted by the number of bathrooms and their cleanliness. Each day the picturesque view called to us to enjoy walks along the shore, looking at the lovely surrounding neighborhood along the way. We even found a nice restaurant for dinner and drinks on the deck (with a great sunset) within walking distance (10 mins). From the moment we arrived we took advantage of all the comforts provided; the well-stocked kitchen (with 2 refrigerators), the stone fireplaces, the awesome screened-in porch, the large dining table (great for boardgames, etc.) and the lovely yard (great for an outdoor picnic). This incredible place has EVERYTHING you need to enjoy yourself and relax with family and friends. We were so lucky to experience such a wonderful getaway. It's one of those houses you walk by and say, "What a great house! I wish I was staying there." Walpole,MADid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

The photos do not do justice to this magnificent house...almost every window beholds a view too good to be true...the ocean is truly at your doorstep. The bedrooms are inviting in their spaciousness and decor, the bathrooms are clean and deliciously luxurious (lots of hot water, too), the kitchen has everything the cook in you wants (oregano to waffle iron) and the living room...well, you just have to see it to believe it. my family and i feel very lucky that we got to spend a week indoors (we were there in February): simmering in the fireplace lit evenings, and soaking in the sun drenched mornings...we decided that it was a blessing in disguise that our vacation at Middle Beach Road transpired in the winter...we didn't have to find an excuse to stay indoors and enjoy this incredibly beautiful and special place.Did you find this review helpful?
