We really enjoyed our week at Elysium Fields - the setting is very peaceful, overlooking the rice fields and away from the hustle & bustle of Seminyak or Kuta, but close enough that its easy to get to them any time you want to. Mul and Ati, who work at the Villa, and Ketut the driver were excellent - very helpful and friendly. They were contactable at any time and nothing was too much trouble. Ketut is a great tour guide, particularly for trips to Ubud or further afield. The Villa was well presented and comfortable, with each of the three bedrooms a stand-alone chalet with King size bed and ensuite, a few steps away from the open living area / dining / kitchen. Outside there is a plunge pool with a separate sitting pool, suitable for young children. The villa is located near a village, where it was great to interact with the locals. It is about 2-3km to Echo Beach ($2.50 by taxi if Ketut is unavailable), which has a number of great restaurants and a mini-mart. Taxis back from Echo Beach are slightly dearer (about $7.00), as the transport is controlled by the local 'corporasi', who do not allow regular taxis to pick up at Echo Beach. Taxi to or from Seminyak is about $6.00 and $9.00 to/from Kuta. my family and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Elysium fields. From the booking may fast an easy with Ricky to the last moment when Ketut took us back to the airport. The kids had great fun in the pool, Ati and Mul make your feel at home there in no time and Ketut, the outgoing driver is a wonderful and resourceful person to whom to whom you can trn turn to fr whatever request you might have. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Bali and staying at the Elysium Fields Villa topped it off nicely. The staff there are very attentive. I was met at the airport and dropped at the villa. The driver gave me plenty of advice on good places to eat, shop, and visit. The villa is well looked after and it is perfect if you like a little seclusion. The villa it was just right for 6 of us girls to relax and soak up the sun by the pool the 3 separate bedrooms gave us the quiet time from the group if we needed. The staff were just fantastic ati Mul's wife made our breakfast every morning with a beautiful smile and also kept the villa clean. We used the Elysium Villa as the location for three families to catch up after not seeing each other for 2 years. It was a fantastic stay. Each family arrived within a few days of each other and were all greeted by the cheerful smile of(the villa's manager, driver and local know-it-all. A man who could find anything you want ,need and more!) and the spacious Kijang! We headed to the Canggu area, a rapidly developing location with a nearby great surf beach (Echo Beach), great cafe's and restaurant's. The villa upon arrival was immaculate. We arrived late in the evening and were greeted by a well lit dining area and pool and welcomed by the villa's friendly, honest and hardworking staff. They placed our bags in our separate air-conned bedroom unit with ensuite bathroom, and mood lighting arrangement (romantic when you need it to be!). Apart from the well laid out villa, (kitchen, dining area, 3 sleeping units, large flat screen TV and theater system for the kids, good sized pool for the adults and a safe small pool for the youngest child) it was the view of the green rice paddy fields that really added the atmosphere of secluded paradise. One family had young kids and were treated to a very professional, flexible babysitting service by the villa's breakfast cook (eggs, pancakes, Balinese coffee and a selection of local pastries upon request) and daily cleaner. This allowed the adults to go out during the day to shop, relax along the beach and try the marvelous local restaurant's (Jemme, Mama San, Tulip, etc) in Semanyak (a 15 min drive from the villa) without feeling the need to get back early. This also allowed the family peace of mind and a freedom not given during their other holiday periods! The location of the villa allowed us to take short trips to Ubud and into more rural areas. It really was an affordable price to stay there for such a long length of time. We were never bored, either reading on the cabana, swimming, enjoying a midday movie out of the sun, heading into the shopping district, walking along the nearby beach into Semanyak, sitting around together. I was sad to leave the villa and the people who made it what it was. I can not stress how easy it is for a family with children to be able to enjoy themselves. My wife and I will easily go back to Elysium Fields without ever having to look at other villa's to see what is on offer. One thing I've noticed in Bali over the past couple of years is a huge increase in construction and traffic. It seems everywhere I go there is land being built on and traffic whizzing past. Well, for the first time in many years, I found a true slice of Balinese paradise. Elysium Fields villa was that paradise. A pristine, clean and tidy villa that bordered onto a little creek and looking straight at an original Balinese rice field with just the sound of natures birds around us. It made for such a relaxing (and romantic) experience for my girlfriend and I. The facilities were all top notch. No quality has been lost in the appliances, furniture and facilities that are in place. The villa far exceeded my expectations and I would love to stay there again next year.
