I had not seen my Aunt Gwendolyn since 1993 at the funeral of her brother, my Uncle Freeman Fridie. My cousin Pam,I'd not seen in 3 years, my Aunt Dorothy longer. These aunts are my fathers sisters and their ancesters settled in Charleston. We came to reunite and discover some family history. I cannot say enough about the home on Boardman. All rooms on one level makes it ideal for older folks, as well as a fully equiped handicapped bathroom among three the home boasts. The porch was a great place to have breakfast before getting ready to sight see. The home was in perfect repair and everything was spotless. The location was excellent as well and we were only a few miles from many restaurants and attractions. I recommend the beach at Isle of Palms. At about 10 miles it was the furthest we traveled. We did drive down to Savannah which was a tad over 100 miles but worth it. I would recommend this home to anyone. I would also like to suggest Jestines restaurant downtown Charleston. You might have to wait a bit, but it is so worth it. Since we were also in Charleston to investigate our descendents we spent some time at the Avery Research Center a treasure trove of information for the African American experience in Charleston for all you historians. There is a free bus which takes you around Charleston and drops off at all the major sights and runs every 10 minutes or so. It starts at the visitors center. Park your car in one of the public parking lots and leave the driving to them. You will see lots more and enjoy your visit without the stress of driving as the streets are narrow. Do take a tour, the tour guides are informative and you will get a better feel for the city ,then and now. Enjoy your time in Charleston at this lovely home in a very quiet neighborhood. My family and I did. Blessings to Claudia and Bonnie and their family. Owner response: Thank you, Meredith, we're so glad you and your family members enjoyed your stay at our vacation home. We'd like to note that there are now 2 TV's in the home, a 46" flat screen in the sunroom and a 26" in Guest BR #2.

Four adults stayed in this home for eight nights in early Oct '10. The home is very comfortable and roomy. Bedrooms are large and there are 3 baths (one is totally handicap friendly, also has handicap ramp for access to the home). WIFI is available for internet access. The only (minor) downside is only 1 TV is in the large home, however expanded cable is provided and a DVD player is provided. The owners are very accomodating and accessable via email and a family member is local to Charleston for immediate needs (keys, questions, etc.). The security deposit was returned quickly and no problems were experienced during our stay. The view from the rear if the home and family room of the marsh/river and the new bridge is pleasant as there is no other home behind this property. We would highly recommend this home for your visit to the Charleston area.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, people with disabilities.
Owner response: We know that there are many sports fans who don't want to miss their favorite games and events, so we'll be adding another TV with expanded cable for the enjoyment of our renters.

My husband, I and 2 friends were delighted to spend time in this lovely and comfortable home while visiting historic Charleston. We enjoyed staying in a home with all the comforts and amenities of home. The views from the family room were great and although we didn't spend a lot of time in the home it was nice to be able to relax in the cozy surroundings after a day of walking and sightseeing in Charleston. Hope we can return again someday!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, people with disabilities.

Our family gathered in Charleston for Thanksgiving week and we really enjoyed this place. It was very close to the city and was big enough for everyone to have privacy. We all agreed to do it again next year, same house.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 4/4
