I cannot say better things about the owner and this property. This house has everything!! I went with a group of 10 and we can't wait to go back. OUTSIDE: A boat, canoes, a fishing dock, fire-pit and plenty of lawn chairs to relax on. There is a really nice play gym for the kids outside and plenty of room in the yard. They have bags sets and other lawn games, we had a great game of football with plenty of space to run around. INSIDE: Beautifully decorated, cabin style with plenty of seating, room for everyone. The entire basement is a game room with everything you can imagine. We left for this trip expecting to explore the town and ended up barely leaving the place the entire weekend. We did visit a local winery that was a lot of fun and pretty close. Sandra was incredibly helpful with the check in, directions, things to do, etc. I would highly recommend this to any group.

My brothers and I were looking for a spot to gather for our annual fishing trip/family reunion after our Wisconsin location closed, and it needed to accommodate a large group with varying interests. Well, this Michigan gem could not have been more perfect. The accommodations were terrific, and the grounds, beautiful. Some of us watched NotreDame football on the big screen TV, while others fished, and still others golfed at one of the local courses. There are 3 separate areas of activity in this cottage not including the expansive deck or property, and we used them all. We had a great time, and look forward to making this a family tradition. Thank you for your great hospitality, and we’ll see you next year!

We rented the property for a 40th wedding anniversary getaway weekend for my parents. The owner was very helpful with setting up the weekend and answering all our questions. It was a weekend getaway with the immediate family including grandkids. The property was clean and well maintained. While the listing photos were accurate, they did not due the property justice. It was even better in person. So open, so much space. It was very secluded, but not far from towns and shopping/dining. There were 4 families with 4 children between the ages of 5 and 7. My mom and dad loved the large dining table and benches where we all sat together to eat dinner. The kids loved the beach area and swing set. We enjoyed many relaxing hours sitting on the patio watching the kids play and fish on the beach and pier. Lake was quiet. We enjoyed the row boat. In the evening we had a fire and then enjoyed coming inside for games in the large basement. There was something for everyone and we loved every minute of our stay. We will definitely try to come back and refer family and friends. Thanks for sharing your beautiful piece of heaven with us.

This house was wonderful for our large family. All of the furnishings were comfortable, nice and clean. Property is very well maintained and is great for little kids. We had 3 children under 4 and it was perfect for them. The girls had a blast in the water and playing in the sand, as well as on the swing set. The basement with the t.v. poker table, and pool table was also a big hit. Lake is nice, not really good for a big swim, but we just played with the kids and cooled off. The beautiful deck outside the main part of the house was the family favorite place to hang out in the afternoon. Absolutely gorgeous view of the lake, nice comfortable seating and peace and quite. Exactly what we were looking for!

My family spent a week at the house and it was great. The house was beautiful and clean and had everything we needed. There was a lot of thought put into making it kid friendly and the owner even provided extra gates for us. The kids (ages 2-10) loved the beach. We had a few warm days and we couldn't keep them out of the water. The sand had just been delivered and the kids are still talking about it. The fishing was great also. The guys really enjoyed that. We will definately be back!

We stayed at this property a second time in November 2008 and I just want to add to our initial review (May 2007). We were in town (Notre Dame) for a football weekend with a few teens/pre-teens and we (adults and kids alike) found the addition of the finished basement wonderful!!! The pool table/dart board were hits and the sports starved men/boys loved the satellite TV in the sitting area in the basement. The only thing we would love to see is one more bathroom, even a half bath would be helpful, but this is not a big deal. Wish we could've spent more time enjoying the house and lake this trip! Once again, when we return to the Michiana area, we will check to see if this property is available first!

We recently stayed at this wonderful home for a long fall weekend. There were 4 adults and a toddler in the group. The home was so comfortable and welcoming,It felt like being in a friend’s home. The lake was beautiful as were the wooded areas around the home. We enjoyed the openness of the great room and kitchen. Being a personal Chef I was pleasantly surprised with the kitchen and all the tools and supplies that were available. The homeowners thought of everything. The rooms were tastefully decorated and the beds were comfortable. The family loved the game room downstairs. I was concerned about the home being childproof for our young son, however the homeowner took extra time to explain the layout of the home to ease my mind. She also provided gates and a highchair. The crib in the bedroom was wonderful, but fit in nicely with the decor and would not have been obtrusive if it were not needed. Our son was very happy to find toys for him in the home as well as on “his very own beach” on the lake. The lake was so peaceful, I highly suggest getting up early for the sunrise. The moon reflecting on the lake was very romantic as well. The surrounding area is super! We had many adventures finding pumpkins and apples as well as enjoying the fall leaves. We enjoyed the Three Oaks area and were pleasantly surprised with the restaurants in the area. The local pizza place makes one of the best Chicago style pizza’s I’ve had! The homeowner was very easy to work with and provided us with excellent customer service. We will defiantly be back next season!!

We had a great time for the week. There were 11 adults and one baby and we had plenty of room. The house was fantastic. All the guys enjoyed the pool table. My father-in-law caught a 21 inch Bass with a cane pole for his highlite. Also caught enough blue gill for a fish fry. Every thing worked great.

We thought the cottage was wonderful. The location was nice the basement was absolutely beautiful (lots to do for the families). We were only 20 minutes away from Silver Beach in St. Joseph Michigan, about 15 minutes from a casino, 20 minutes from orchards to pick cherries, etc. The lake was great for fishing but not great for swimming so we would advise driving to a larger beach for swimming. The only real downside is that the power goes off often (3 times the week we were there) and the upstairs loft is steamy.

We rented this lakefront home the week of our sons graduation from Notre Dame and we were thrilled with the location (25-30 minutes from campus) as well as the house itself. The core group included grandparents, parents and siblings of the graduate (8 people, ages 74 to 9). The location is peaceful and beautiful; swans and blue herons on the lake, Baltimore Orioles visiting the huge deck daily, no immediate neighbors and the house had all we needed and more (although bottled water for drinking purposes is recommended). We hosted a small party for the graduate and his roomates and the large side yard, deck and lake suited this purpose very well. We enjoyed fishing (brought our own rods) and boating on the lake. The homeowners had a few yard games (bocce and corn hole toss was a hit!) available. Not any really close grocery store, but as we were in and out of South Bend a lot, we were able to pick up supplies within 20 minutes of the cottage. We could have easily slept a few more people in this house, too. The beds were quite comfortable and the great room area was nice for all to "hang out". I would love to come back and just enjoy the peaceful nature this cottage has to offer as well as explore the areas north and west of the cottage! Maybe in the near future!
