  We really liked the location and the owners showed up to help with a couple of issues and tried to correct. The home needs a lot of little things fixed such as screen doors that had to be left closed, overhead fans in the bedrooms that were too noisy to be left on. I did try and walk out into the water and ended up sinking in mud. The bird life was amazing and the front porch was a great place to watch them from. Having spent two weeks in Hawaii in a unit that was the same price I would have to say that I was disappointed.

  Owner response: Thank you for your comments, we will do our best to get the screens working as soon as possible, as well as look into the fan situation. Regarding to the water, the keys are very different to Hawaii. If you are looking for wide, sandy beaches and decent surf then Hawaii is the place to visit, the beaches in the keys as we mentioned during our conversation are mainly reach by boat or you can visit Bahia Honda State park which does have a nice sandy beach.   Perfect location, great views, nice, clean house. Thanks for allowing dogs - ours loved soaking up the sun on the decks and swimming and so did we!! Also, thanks for the use of the kayaks - so much fun. We'll be back for sure!!!!! We love the Keys.

  We are a family of four with two kids, this is the second home we've rented in the Key West area. What we liked. When we rent, we generally care about three things: quiet waterfront location, clean and functional house. As other reviewers have stated, the location of the house on a quiet dead end street facing the sound was perfect. The kitchen was stocked with basics - everything needed to cook breakfast lunch and dinner. There is one neighbor to one side of the house, otherwise an unobstructed view of the water with lots of undeveloped land in the back. We saw key deer and an iguana during our stay, almost right in front of the property. The house is somewhat dated inside, but everything (AC, appliances, WIFI, bathrooms/water pressure) worked, and functioned well (we don't care about furnishings etc, just care that it works, but others may). Two double kayaks were great for our kids (6 and 4), probably saved about $300 in rental fees, which you might want to consider when considering other houses against this one. The house is waterfront. I snorkeled right in front of the house, swam out about 500 feet in to the sound and saw lots of lobsters (look at bases of larger sponges), upside down jellyfish, sponges, hard coral, curly Q anemones, small barracuda, a stingray and lots of snappers. The bottom is mostly sand and sawgrass, there is no reef per se, but still lots to see underwater. The mangroves provide a nursery for small fish in the area. Incidentally none of the wildlife is dangerous to anyone, so swim with confidence. The water is very shallow, about 1-3 feet deep until at least 400 feet offshore -I'd recommend snorkeling at high tide. Boat traffic in the sound was very limited and is far offshore enough to not snorkel with a dive flag. The deepest water in the area is actually right in front of the neighbor's house where it is dredged to about 10 feet (there are lots of dinner size snappers in this hole if anyone wants to go fishing). The house comes with a few rods as well - lots of bait shops nearby. Probably a lot of fun for teenagers and above as far as snorkeling right off the sound in front of the house. All in we liked this house very much and would recommend to our friends.

  We are happy that we found this house with such amazing views. We enjoyed swimming off the shore as well as visiting other places around the area. We'll return to Slovenia with beautiful memories. Thanks!

  Great quiet location. The owners were great to work with and no problems at all with Super cold AC Free use of 2 double kayaks. Saved me $300 on rentals. The channel behind the house has a great deep swimming and snorkeling area just steps from the house. Just around the corner is the key deer refuge, even had a few deer and a osprey around the house,along with a resident iguana that showed up every day for lunch and loved banana chunks. If you want a quiet house in a great location you cant beat this house. 30 min from Key West or Marathon but off the beaten path with no traffic at all for quiet evenings. Thanks Nina and Richard for letting us rent your house. If you still have it next year I would love to stay there again

  The house is at the end of a dead end street so there was a lot of privacy with a large empty property across the street and we saw one key deer there. We really enjoyed the peace and quite, and the view of the water and sunrise. We also enjoyed the use of the kayaks. The home was clean and the beds and living room were comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and like the surrounding area, visiting No Name Bar, with tons of Key deer in the area, along with a great dive shop, bait shop, healthfood store/restaurant also very nearby. Looe Key Reef was spectacular, as well as Bahia Honda State Park. Nice Trip to the Lower Keys. Can't wait to visit again.

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

  We (family of 4) stayed 8 days at this rental , beautiful view, quiet location,great for star gazing, home is clean well maintained , could use a few updates, fridge very noisy, wont make ice, ceiling fans rattle, but your in the Keys for the outside , not the room . Close to Bahia Honda, Overall I'll stay again , owners very nice and responsive .

  Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
