Affordable and Private View Home Near Bass Lake and Yosemite
- Minimum stay:4 nights

The home was built in the 1980's. It is on a knoll above China creek. It is oriented in a way to take advantage of the view of the mountains to the north with the living room's full wall of picture windows. The house is flanked by a 30 acre undeveloped green space which is home to our local deer herd who visit us almost daily. The property has a secluded feel and is a wonderful place to relax. It can also serve as a hub of an active exploration of the area with hiking trails, fishing, and boating within a short distance.
The house is a great place for a large family or to entertain friends or relatives. The kitchen is large and has a small breakfast nook. It comes fully equipped . The living room and dining room comprise a great room with high ceilings. The living room is full of comfortable furniture. The furniture is high end, tasteful and very comfortable. There is a deck which opens out from the dining room. The garage is detached and there is ample parking. There are 3 bedrooms and a sleeping porch There is a master bedroom with a queen bed and a large full bathroom. There is a second bedroom with a queen bed and full bath across the hall. The third bedroom has a queen bed is adjacent to a half bathroom. There is a screened sleeping porch which has 2 additional twin beds available . We also have RV water and electric hookup available for those travelling in RV.
One big advantage of this house is it's closeness to Oakhurst. It is approximately 1 mile. This makes stocking up on food very convenient. We are also very close to all trails and water amenities at Bass Lake and minutes from the south entrance to Yosemite and the Chukchansi Casino. The Sierra National Forest surrounds the area and is full of beautiful sites to discover. We will supply our collection of books and maps of the area and would be happy to suggest trails and fun things to do in the area.
The house is extremely comfortable. It is beautiful inside and out. It is placed in a spectacular natural setting with mountains to the north in the distance, an oak forest shading the south side of the house, and China creek crashing or meandering (depending on the time of year) next door.
Keywords: This is our family vacation home. It is a 2200 square foot home perched above China Creek on 2.5 acres. It is minutes from Yosemite and Bass Lake. It is comfortably furnished and great for lounging.. Watch the deer feed each morning from the comfort of the living room or listen to the creek flow winter through early summer from the screened porch. The home has an isolated feel but is within 1 mile of Oakhurst and all its conveniences.

Place was great. Overall very nice, especially the kitchen. We liked it a lot :). Flooring was also beautiful, carpet AND wood. The beds were hard mattresses which felt so good! :) especially for very sore Yosemite Half-Dome hikers! ;) Yosemite Valley is about a 1.5 hour drive. House is very convenient to shopping, entertainment and eating in Oakhurst and recreation at Bass Lake. Views out window are incredible! House needs some updating, but everything was functional and clean. Single story was very convenient for grandparent.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers.

Overall the house is well decorated and furnished in a classic country style. We enjoyed our stay a lot and all loved the style of the house. It’s kind of old-fashioned. Some people may feel it’s a little bit aged. But for us, it’s definitely a different experience compared to our own house. The kitchen is well equipped. All appliances are functional but may need some upgrade especially the cook top, which uses L.P. It works but just don’t expect to do lots of cooking on it because it simply does not have enough power to do any decent cooking. The oven and the microwave oven are just fine, old but functional. The sleeping patio is amazing but too bad my wife did not allow me to sleep there in the night. One deer actually came to visit us one morning and that amazed the kids. The house is very close to the south entry of Yosemite, maybe 10-15 minutes driving. And you can re-stock all your supplies from the supermarket at Oakhurst, which is just less than 5 minutes away. Anyway, it has been a very nice experience.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
Owner response: We are glad you had a nice stay at our home in Oakhurst. We are glad you got a chance to enjoy the wildlife around the house. The deer come by almost daily now that there are acorns on the ground. The other day we saw a pair of silver foxes roaming the yard. We would like to followup on your comment about the cook top stove. Country homes only have propane available as a gas source. The choice for a stovetop is between an electric and propane. We prefer gas. We have never had problem cooking meals on that stovetop and have cooked many a feast. Propane gas has a slightly different feel than natural gas but heats up to at least as hot as natural gas in my experience. We have checked out the stovetop since this review was written and found it to be working normally.

It was my mom's 80th birthday, and my sister and I chose this unit to celebrate with her. Unfortunately, I had to work for 2 of those days, so the wi fi came so in handy! This home is very close to everything. We went to Soqel and swam the river, to beautiful Bass Lake; shopping and antiquing downtown Oakhurst, lots of dinner places (specifically El Cid) and the highlight was an afternoon on the Sugar Pine RR and lunch at Tenaya. During the high season, the Narrow Gauge Inn Restaurant (on the road to Yosemite) is open and is so extremely charming that we wanted to stay for hours and hours. The home was well kept and wildlife abounds around the unit. You would not know that you are so close to town and there are so many trees and mossy boulders on the large property would not know you had neighbors, except for a barking dog in the night. We loved whiling away the afternoons out on the lovely deck watching the birds and squirrels, and one evening witnessed a lightning storm pass over Yosemite. The river is below the property, but has a steep way down. If you love listening to crickets while you drift off to sleep, try the screened sleeping porch, very magical! The owner is very responsive and dedicated to us having a wonderful stay. Good kitchen amenities to help with a special birthday dinner for mom.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

This house is exactly as described. Everything works and it is very comfortable. If you are from England as we are you will probably find the Oakhurst area more attractive than our guide books suggest, and the proximity of a decent store with long opening hours is very very helpful. The sleeping porch was exciting for our children, and there is some interesting wildlife about. Yosemite is easily reached, and Bass Lake is very close. The house is clearly a personal home, but in a good way, and the owner very helpful and accessible.Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, sightseeing, families with teenagers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this home. The floors were beautiful and the beds were comfortable. The amount of living area was perfect to accommodate our family. We loved the living room with the view and also spent considerable time on the deck. When we arrived, a deer on the front lawn greeted us. We're already talking about returning some time for another family reunion.Recommended for: Sightseeing.

My husband and I and our good friend spent 4 nights at this property over the 4th of July. The house is secluded yet extremely close to town. We loved the comfortable living room with floor to ceiling windows overlooking the mountains. Everyday we encountered deers on the property and other wildlife. The kitchen had everything you could possibly need to entertain. Beds were comfortable. Overall we loved it and plan to return in the future.Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing.

My favorite feature is sleeping on the screened porch high above the creek, enjoying the cool night air and listening to the sounds of water running over rock. The frogs are a bonus and the water is still quite good even late July as this was a great snow year. I love this place, with trees all around. There's a small corner table in the kitchen where I sit with my computer and a gray squirrel stares in at me from 7 feet away. My wife loves hanging in the living room relaxing, looking out through the trees. From that vantage one can't even see another house and in the distance are the slopes that precede the drive to the Yosemite gate, about 18 miles away. If you don't want to drive to the Valley, stop in the south part of the park and hike the Chilnualna Falls trail near Wawona: an easy drive and so beautiful!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway.
