Location: Grand Lake, Northwest, Colorado, USA (Adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park!)

Accommodations:  House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

Keywords:  Cabin / House

Enjoy the beautiful views from our gorgeous recently-built (2001) cabin home, "in town" and just a short walk to either Grand Lake or Shadow Mountain Lake. Secluded enough to ensure plenty of peace and quiet, you won't find it unusual to see moose, elk, foxes, and other wildlife feeding on our wildflowers during the morning/evening.

Grand Lake is a quaint historic town that serves as the western "less-crowded" entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park -- access to the park is a short 100-yard walk from our cabin! -- and provides an abundance of both summer & winter activities. Golfing, boating, swimming, fishing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, along with the many restaurants, gifts shops, live theater, and social events in town make this an ideal summer vacation.

Our 2BR/2BA home can accommodate up to 5 adults, has been equipped with designer bedding & hand-selected furnishings to convey a "contemporary rustic" feel. The master bedroom offers a queen bed w/ private bath, the "kids" room offers a twin/full bunkbed with trundle, and there is a queen sleeper in the family room.

I loved my stay in the mountains!!!

I loved my stay in the mountains!!!

VRBO Bear stayed here - 06/16/2005 If you love the beauty of the mountains, breath taking views, a clean cozy cabin and seeing wild life up close and personal then you’ll love this cabin in the mountains.

To my surprise, upon entering the beautiful town of Grand Lake, there on the side of the road was a huge Bull Moose with antlers bigger then I have ever seen. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Where else, other then Grand Lake, could I have seen a moose on the side of the road? What a lucky bear I am.

If that wasn’t good enough to make the whole trip worth it I stepped into the cabin and was pleasantly surprised. The pictures I had seen did not do it justice. This clean cozy cabin had a full kitchen, living area, beautiful views, and relaxing atmosphere which made me feel at home right away. I could not wait to sit my paws down and relax in front of the fireplace.

Within walking distance to Shadow Mountain Lake, Grand Lake and downtown Grand Lake there was so much to do. There were also some wonderful restaurants to eat at, such as Sagebrush (barbecue), Pancho and Lefty's (mexican), and Chuck Hole for breakfast. Oh where these little legs can go.

I definitely had a Grand time while staying in Grand Lake and will come back to visit the area again.

Signed, VRBO Bear

Guest: Girl Scout Troop (Westminster, Colo)
Date of Stay: 12/02/11 Review Submitted: 12/06/11

This cabin is excellent!! We took a group of 6 Girl Scouts for a get away. The girls had so much fun, plenty of room for the 8 of us. The cabin is super clean and has everything you could possibly need. Easy access to town. Very comfy and cozy, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Wonderful property and highly recommended!

I visited this Beautiful home/cabin during the later part of July 2011 and was NOT dissapointed. The owners were very accesible proir to the stay and gave me all the information we needed to have a carefree and stressfree time. We had 4 adults and 3 children all under 7 and there was plenty of room. The location is such that there are so many options for getting around. If you have a car great, bikes are even better for the exersize and clean mountain living and if you have neither...no worries...its literally a 10 minute walk to the middle of all the action in downtown Grand Lake. The description of the cabin and pictures and and location are very accurate. The property was very clean and well maintained and I would 100% recommend this listing for ANYONE and EVERYONE. Try the Chuckwagon Pancake Breakfast at the Winding River Resort...they also have a petting farm, horseback riding and many more activities...you wont be dissapointed. Thanks again

Grand Lake and Kigin's cabin is a wonderful location for a few days in the Rocky Mountains

Guest: Minnesota visitors (Stewartville, MN )
Date of Stay: 07/08/11 Review Submitted: 07/19/11

The cabin was just what we were looking for. It had a great view of the mountains and lakes. It was clean and comfortable. The cabin had everything we needed for five relaxing days in the Rocky Mountains. We used the cabin for a home base as we went on hikes and day trips to RMNP and some of the area towns. Our college age daughters enjoyed an afternoon at the spa and pools in near by Hot Sulphur Springs. We went lake trout fishing on Grand Lake and had a great time catching twelve lake trout in about two hours with our guide Jim Gasner from Rocky Mountain Outfitters located on the board walk in Grand Lake. After one of our longer hikes of the week we stopped at CY's Deli for a late lunch. The service was fast and the sandwiches were awesome. We are all looking forward to another trip to Grand Lake.

Our 2010 New Year's Stay

Guest: Lawson (Greeley, CO )
Date of Stay: 12/30/10 Review Submitted: 01/06/11

This was our first New Year's vacation in the Grand Lake area. I was extremely pleased with the location of this cabin. The cabin was very clean and has excellent views. The pictures accurately reflect the apperance and amenities. Our family of 5 fit perfect in this cabin. We were within walking distance to snowmobiling, sledding and the center of town. Within short driving distance to tubing, skiing and the hot springs. I would highly recommend this cabin and working with owners.

Great cabin!

Guest: Putty (Denver)
Date of Stay: 11/10/10 Review Submitted: 11/10/10

We stayed there from 10/29/10 to 10/31/10. We were looking for a quiet weekend getaway and found this to be the PERFECT time of year for that. It was so quiet the entire time we were there. The cabin is in immaculate condition. The kitchen was a great to cook our meals in. The master bed was very comfortable and inviting. There is no closet space available, so for a longer stay that might be a bit of a pain. I would never let that stop you from renting this cabin. While not right on the lake, the view from the deck is absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back!

Owner response:Thanks for the nice comments. We do have a large closet in the 2nd/Kids BR, the closet in the Master is what we use as our Owners closet & keep locked, am guessing you didn't see other closet since there were only 2 of you & you only used the Master BR.

Our first visit to the US

Guest: Jean, Tom, Gregory and Victoria (Salisbury, England)
Date of Stay: 09/19/10 Review Submitted: 10/01/10

A family group of 4 and we could not have chosen better. The location of the cabin is perfect with wonderful views from the deck. The cabin was clean, warm and comfortable and well equipped with all you could need. The Kigins were most helpful as we were traveling from England and did not know what to expect. It was so easy to get into the National Park and we enjoyed the drive over Trail Ridge Road to Estes on the East. So much to see - elk, mule deer, moose, cheeky chipmunks, squirre - could go on forever. Grand Lake itself has everything you could want and some good places to eat. We sampled Mexican, Italian and American - huge plates of food and excellent value. For the more adventurous there are lots of trails to explore, our son and his wife climbed two mountains and loved it, although you do need to take care of your reaction to altitude. We were made most welcome at the Grand Lake Golf Club and managed to play 9 holes before giving up because of rain. Mostly the weather was very good at this time of year and the fall colours were wonderful. Would most definitely recommend the Kigins Cabin to all.

Wonderful cabin with great views!

Date of Stay: 07/05/10 Review Submitted: 07/10/10

Our family had a great stay at the cabin! The views are without any power lines so the beautiful scenery is not ruined. The house had a step stool and a toddler seat already there so it made it easier for our little one. I went running in the neighborhood the first morning and found that the entrance to the park really is very close! The park is breathtaking, especially the views from the alpine center about 30 minutes away. We saw some marmots, elks, and mule deer around the park... and lots of chipmunks around the house which delighted our toddler. FYI: We recommend the lake tour (the 10:30am one in case it rains later on in the day). It's an hour long and a fun way to spend some time on the water (very cold even in the summer). We drove to town since we have a little one but you can walk there from the house, it's not far... In short, you can't go wrong with the house! We'll hopefully be back :)

This cabin had all the amenities of home. It is extremely cozy and you feel right at home! The cabin has an amazing view of the lake and you can walk into town. Grand Lake is a scenic little town with cute shops and great restaurants. We spent most of our time at Rocky Mountain National Park, and the cabin was just minutes from the Park! We got into our car and drove to Steamboat Springs. It was a beautiful ride. This cabin really is a great "headquarters" for your time in the Rockys. Thank you Joe and Casey for sharing your awesome home with us!

We stayed in the Kigins cabin the first week of October 2009. The cabin is very close to RMNP where we spent most of our time. The weather was very unpredictable and it was nice to have a cozy cabin to come home to. The Kigins were great to work with and always responded quickly and courteously to our inquiries. We had a great time in Grand Lake.
