Location: Grand Lake, Northwest, Colorado, USA (Adjacent to Rocky Mountain National Park!)

Accommodations:  Cabin / House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths (Sleeps 6)

Enjoy the beautiful views from our gorgeous recently-built (2001) cabin home, "in town" and just a short walk to either Grand Lake or Shadow Mountain Lake. Secluded enough to ensure plenty of peace and quiet, you won't find it unusual to see moose, elk, foxes, and other wildlife feeding on our wildflowers during the morning/evening.

Grand Lake is a quaint historic town that serves as the western "less-crowded" entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park -- access to the park is a short 100-yard walk from our cabin! -- and provides an abundance of both summer & winter activities. Golfing, boating, swimming, fishing, water-skiing, jet-skiing, downhill skiing, cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding, along with the many restaurants, gifts shops, live theater, and social events in town make this an ideal summer vacation.

Our 2BR/2BA home can accommodate up to 5 adults, has been equipped with designer bedding & hand-selected furnishings to convey a "contemporary rustic" feel. The master bedroom offers a queen bed w/ private bath, the "kids" room offers a twin/full bunkbed with trundle, and there is a queen sleeper in the family room.

I loved my stay in the mountains!!!

I loved my stay in the mountains!!!

VRBO Bear stayed here - 06/16/2005 If you love the beauty of the mountains, breath taking views, a clean cozy cabin and seeing wild life up close and personal then you’ll love this cabin in the mountains.

To my surprise, upon entering the beautiful town of Grand Lake, there on the side of the road was a huge Bull Moose with antlers bigger then I have ever seen. This was truly a once in a lifetime experience. Where else, other then Grand Lake, could I have seen a moose on the side of the road? What a lucky bear I am.

If that wasn’t good enough to make the whole trip worth it I stepped into the cabin and was pleasantly surprised. The pictures I had seen did not do it justice. This clean cozy cabin had a full kitchen, living area, beautiful views, and relaxing atmosphere which made me feel at home right away. I could not wait to sit my paws down and relax in front of the fireplace.

Within walking distance to Shadow Mountain Lake, Grand Lake and downtown Grand Lake there was so much to do. There were also some wonderful restaurants to eat at, such as Sagebrush (barbecue), Pancho and Lefty's (mexican), and Chuck Hole for breakfast. Oh where these little legs can go.

I definitely had a Grand time while staying in Grand Lake and will come back to visit the area again.

Signed, VRBO Bear

    • We stayed in the Kigins cabin the first week of October 2009. The cabin is very close to RMNP where we spent most of our time. The weather was very unpredictable and it was nice to have a cozy cabin to come home to. The Kigins were great to work with and always responded quickly and courteously to our inquiries. We had a great time in Grand Lake.

    • We had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful home 9/23-9/27/09. The fall views of the aspens, mountains and lake from the deck and windows were spectacular! The home is very comfortable and stocked with everything you need. We saw a moose and many elk in Rocky Mountain National Park which is just a few minutes away and there are numerous trails to hike. Best of all, the owners are such a pleasure to work with and you can tell how much pride they have in this home. We hope we are able to come back next year.

    • We enjoyed the cabin a great deal. The view was outstanding and the location was close to the park and Grand Lake. On lazy afternoons the chipmunks and hummigbirds were fun to watch. If things work out we certainly want to be back next summer.

    • We had a wonderful stay in your cabin in Grand Lake this summer. The cabin was comfortable and accommodating. We particularly enjoyed relaxing on the deck with the view of the lake. Grand Lake is a great vacation town. They hosted a chili cook- off while we were there. There was so much to do we couldn't do it all in the time we were there. We did a lot of hiking in the adjacent Rocky Mountain National Park, saw lots of moose and elk, and took our son to Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park. If we had more time, we would have enjoyed kayaking on the lake. Thank you Joe and Casey

    • We had a great time at "Kigin Kabin". The views were spectacular and your home was extremely comfortable. We felt really remote, even though Grand Lake was just down the hill. Would love to visit again.

    • We just returned from a terrific week at the Kilgin's cabin in Grand Lake. It's a perfect vacation location for families with young kids. The rental is lovely, more than you would expect from descriptions like "cozy" and "cabin." It has all the essentials you'd expect (working kitchen appliances, washer/dryer etc.) plus the few extras that make it feel more like a home (board games, a nice BBQ-grill, staples in the kitchen, etc.) The Kilgins were very helpful in suggesting activities appropriate for our young kids, as well. We fished, hiked the short distance to Adams falls, went horseback riding, and rented a motorboat to go speeding around the lake twice! We loved it and will be back for sure.

    • We had a great time at your Grand Lake home. The house was very confortable and a nice place to return to after spending the day at the park. We especially liked being able to grill out on the deck while looking out over the lake and mountains. One night we had the pleasure of watching 8 deer from the deck! Thanks for sharing your home.

    • Our two adult children reside in CO. and we stayed together at the Kigin Kabin over Thanksgiving. It was a wonderful place to spend time together. The views from the cabin were outstanding and we enjoyed the close location to Grand Lake. When not at the cabin we enjoyed hiking in RMNP and browsing thru the shops in Grand Lake. It was a most enjoyable experience and we would return in a heartbeat. We highly recommend the Kigin Kabin. Mary and John Ferraro, Port Washington, WI.

    • We loved the cabin. It is perfectly located to enjoy hikes in Rocky Mountain National Park and to explore Grand Lake and the surrounding area. We like the area so much that we've bought a condo in the area.
