This place was perfect!! We were looking for a reasonably priced place to stay with good views and a fairly updated interior. We got everything we were looking for in this place! Not only was it right up the hill from the main part of town, but it had great views of the lake and surrounding mountain peaks. I also got better service from the owners than any other VRBO rental I've ever booked. We got tips on places to go for fun and food, detailed directions to the cabin, prompt and helpful responses for payment, etc. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone looking to visit Grand Lake.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

A Wonderful Winter Wonderland Vacation!
A Wonderful Winter Wonderland Vacation!

Our family of 3 had not been on a vacation in several years. We were looking for a relaxing winter wonderland vacation and all of our expectations were met in this area and in this cabin! We had never rented on vrbo before ~ the owners quickly and thoroughly answered our many questions and concerns and gave us lots of great feedback regarding activities in the area. The cabin was easy to find (but we were glad to have a 4WD) , super clean, well stocked and well-maintained. The views were fabulous! Our only tiny "complaint" was that the living room was a little small and tight and at the end of tiring ski days we felt like we couldn't spread out and relax as much as we wanted to, but otherwise the cabin was a very comfortable get away. We appreciated the extra touch of having a humidifier available to use ~ we realized that would have suffered without it. Originally we wanted to ski at Winter Park, but the owners gave us some information about Grandby Ranch and we were glad that we took their advice. Grandby Ranch was not only more affordable for us, but a better fit for our family. This was our son's first time skiing and husband and I had not skiied in 18 years. We signed up our son for group ski school, but on that particular day he was the only one registered and got a private lesson! Not only did we ski for 3 days, but we went tubing at the Original Fraser Tubing Hill, Snow mobiling at On The Trail Rentals (oh, it was so cold that morning!!) and drove as far as we could up the RMNP road. The owner texted us one day to make us aware of the Grand Lake Winter Festival. I'm so glad that he took the time to text us and let us know, because we would have missed a super fun time! We originally planned to cook many of our meals at the cabin and the cabin was well outfitted to do so, but the restaurant suggestions that the owner made just killed our desire to cook. We had the breakfast buffet at Fat Cats both on Saturday and Sunday. We all agreed that it was THE BEST breakfast buffet we had ever eaten. We ate at Brickhouse 40 and Ians Bakery in Grandby and several times at Sagebush BBQ in Grand Lake. We did have a mediocre-at-best meal at Blue Water Bakery; we only ate there because Fat Cats was closed ~ that was one time we should should have stayed at the cabin . We also give the bowling alley's pizza rave reviews. This fabulous vacation certainly more than made up for our several years of no vacation. We can't wait to come back again!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This vacation is very neat, clean, and comfy. The views are great! You have mountains all around with a nice view of the lake to the south. We had a relaxing time here. The owner was especially helpful in answering my many questions since this was the first time I used a VRBO property. Grand Lake in October is a quiet and friendly town with ample shops to browse and restaurants to patronize. There are also two groceries stores in Grand Lake so you may do your cooking if you choose. This home is within a half of a mile from the RMNP. We would visit it nightly to view the elk feeding in the meadows at dusk. It was a marvelous sight. I would recommend this home and its location to anyone.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our cabin stay was one of the best we've experienced; which says a lot coming from Colorado natives who frequent our state's most awesome mountains. Highlights include a visit from a big black bear, who treated himself to a neighbor's flowers, just as we were leaving to enjoy a lunchtime boat ride on the lake, Also saw a large bull moose, a mama moose and calf, and a lot of deer while on a horseback ride at the stables just below the cabin. When not hiking and running the nearby trails or enjoying 4th of July festivities in town, we found relaxing deck time with the majestic mountain views and an abundance of singing hummingbirds. Thank you Kigins!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

From the moment we walked in the door, we knew it was going to be a wonderful vacation. The cabin was spotless, beautifully furnished and obviously well-maintained, and was the perfect size for our family of six. Everything you need is included. The beds are very comfortable and the linens are nice. The owners even have food in the cabinets and condiments in the refrigerator that you are welcome to use. We didn't use them because we felt like we were getting the cabin for a steal as it was, and felt a little guilty using their things, but they are there if you need them. We were there during an unusual warm spell, so the cabin got a little warm during the day, but cooled right off in the evenings with the wonderful breeze through the open windows. The views are simply spectacular. We especially loved sitting on the deck and watching the sunset over the mountains and reflecting off the lake. Joe, the owner, was very good about responding to my emails and was helpful with local information. Grand Lake is just as we remembered it from our visit 24 years ago. It was such fun to bring our children back to this lovely little Colorado town. Some things we enjoyed were spending the day in Winter Park. The summer activities there (Alpine Slide, mini golf, etc.) were fun for our family. We loved hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park. We especially enjoyed Adams Falls in RMNP, just a very short drive from the cabin. Lilliput Miniature Golf in Grand Lake was a fun activity for our family, as well. We highly recommend staying in this wonderful, cozy cabin, and we will be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Joe and Caseys cabin was exactly what you would expect from the pictures and description that they have. So beautiful and cozy. The humming birds are everywhere. Elk were grazing in the yard one day. What a view, it's hard to describe how beautiful Grand Lake is. You won't regret staying in this wonderful cabin. We appreciate that they open their house for others to enjoy.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I visited this Beautiful home/cabin during the later part of July 2011 and was NOT dissapointed. The owners were very accesible proir to the stay and gave me all the information we needed to have a carefree and stressfree time. We had 4 adults and 3 children all under 7 and there was plenty of room. The location is such that there are so many options for getting around. If you have a car great, bikes are even better for the exersize and clean mountain living and if you have neither...no worries...its literally a 10 minute walk to the middle of all the action in downtown Grand Lake. The description of the cabin and pictures and and location are very accurate. The property was very clean and well maintained and I would 100% recommend this listing for ANYONE and EVERYONE. Try the Chuckwagon Pancake Breakfast at the Winding River Resort...they also have a petting farm, horseback riding and many more activities...you wont be dissapointed. Thanks againRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The cabin was just what we were looking for. It had a great view of the mountains and lakes. It was clean and comfortable. The cabin had everything we needed for five relaxing days in the Rocky Mountains. We used the cabin for a home base as we went on hikes and day trips to RMNP and some of the area towns. Our college age daughters enjoyed an afternoon at the spa and pools in near by Hot Sulphur Springs. We went lake trout fishing on Grand Lake and had a great time catching twelve lake trout in about two hours with our guide Jim Gasner from Rocky Mountain Outfitters located on the board walk in Grand Lake. After one of our longer hikes of the week we stopped at CY's Deli for a late lunch. The service was fast and the sandwiches were awesome. We are all looking forward to another trip to Grand Lake.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

This was our first New Year's vacation in the Grand Lake area. I was extremely pleased with the location of this cabin. The cabin was very clean and has excellent views. The pictures accurately reflect the apperance and amenities. Our family of 5 fit perfect in this cabin. We were within walking distance to snowmobiling, sledding and the center of town. Within short driving distance to tubing, skiing and the hot springs. I would highly recommend this cabin and working with owners.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed there from 10/29/10 to 10/31/10. We were looking for a quiet weekend getaway and found this to be the PERFECT time of year for that. It was so quiet the entire time we were there. The cabin is in immaculate condition. The kitchen was a great to cook our meals in. The master bed was very comfortable and inviting. There is no closet space available, so for a longer stay that might be a bit of a pain. I would never let that stop you from renting this cabin. While not right on the lake, the view from the deck is absolutely amazing. I will definitely be back!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway.
Owner response: Thanks for the nice comments. We do have a large closet in the 2nd/Kids BR, the closet in the Master is what we use as our Owners closet & keep locked, am guessing you didn't see other closet since there were only 2 of you & you only used the Master BR.

A family group of 4 and we could not have chosen better. The location of the cabin is perfect with wonderful views from the deck. The cabin was clean, warm and comfortable and well equipped with all you could need. The Kigins were most helpful as we were traveling from England and did not know what to expect. It was so easy to get into the National Park and we enjoyed the drive over Trail Ridge Road to Estes on the East. So much to see - elk, mule deer, moose, cheeky chipmunks, squirre - could go on forever. Grand Lake itself has everything you could want and some good places to eat. We sampled Mexican, Italian and American - huge plates of food and excellent value. For the more adventurous there are lots of trails to explore, our son and his wife climbed two mountains and loved it, although you do need to take care of your reaction to altitude. We were made most welcome at the Grand Lake Golf Club and managed to play 9 holes before giving up because of rain. Mostly the weather was very good at this time of year and the fall colours were wonderful. Would most definitely recommend the Kigins Cabin to all.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Our family had a great stay at the cabin! The views are without any power lines so the beautiful scenery is not ruined. The house had a step stool and a toddler seat already there so it made it easier for our little one. I went running in the neighborhood the first morning and found that the entrance to the park really is very close! The park is breathtaking, especially the views from the alpine center about 30 minutes away. We saw some marmots, elks, and mule deer around the park... and lots of chipmunks around the house which delighted our toddler. FYI: We recommend the lake tour (the 10:30am one in case it rains later on in the day). It's an hour long and a fun way to spend some time on the water (very cold even in the summer). We drove to town since we have a little one but you can walk there from the house, it's not far... In short, you can't go wrong with the house! We'll hopefully be back :)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This cabin had all the amenities of home. It is extremely cozy and you feel right at home! The cabin has an amazing view of the lake and you can walk into town. Grand Lake is a scenic little town with cute shops and great restaurants. We spent most of our time at Rocky Mountain National Park, and the cabin was just minutes from the Park! We had the pleasure of staying in this wonderful home 9/23-9/27/09. The fall views of the aspens, mountains and lake from the deck and windows were spectacular! The home is very comfortable and stocked with everything you need. We saw a moose and many elk in Rocky Mountain National Park which is just a few minutes away and there are numerous trails to hike. We had a wonderful stay in your cabin in Grand Lake this summer. The cabin was comfortable and accommodating. We particularly enjoyed relaxing on the deck with the view of the lake. Grand Lake is a great vacation town. They hosted a chili cook- off while we were there. There was so much to do we couldn't do it all in the time we were there. We did a lot of hiking in the adjacent Rocky Mountain National Park, saw lots of moose and elk, and took our son to Trestle Bike Park in Winter Park. If we had more time, we would have enjoyed kayaking on the lake. Thank you Joe and CaseyDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We just returned from a terrific week at the Kilgin's cabin in Grand Lake. It's a perfect vacation location for families with young kids. The rental is lovely, more than you would expect from descriptions like "cozy" and "cabin." It has all the essentials you'd expect (working kitchen appliances, washer/dryer etc.) plus the few extras that make it feel more like a home (board games, a nice BBQ-grill, staples in the kitchen, etc.) The Kilgins were very helpful in suggesting activities appropriate for our young kids, as well. We fished, hiked the short distance to Adams falls, went horseback riding, and rented a motorboat to go speeding around the lake twice! We loved it and will be back for sure.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The cabin was very clean and really felt like home by the end of our week there. I especially loved sitting on the deck in the afternoon and reading, BBQing, and just relaxing. We loved being able to send them to another room while we watched our show at night and being able to put them to bed early so we could have a night to ourselves. What a wonderful cabin and area! We had a great time hiking, exploring and geo-cacheing. This location is the perfect mix between being remote and close enough to food and activities. We visited Estes Park and we were so relieved that we decided to stay in Grand Lake. The kids loved the cabin as well (the bunk beds and fire ring were at the top of their list(Cartoon Network was a bonus for our one rainy day)). It was a joy dealing directly with the owners and that personal touch. The next time we pass this way again we will not hessitate to stay here again. A+++ ratingDid you find this review helpful? This Kozy Kabin was a romantic getaway for our anniversary present to one another. Prefect location, Grand Lake, CO's quaintest town near RMNP West entrance. We enjoyed all the nice amenities... spacious, open living area, view of tall pines thru large windows, satellite TV with DVD/VCR player, well equipped kitchen/dining, 2 baths and washer/dryer. 2nd bedroom with bunks went unused this trip, but was perfect for two kids when staying here in 2004. We couldn't find any place nicer for our anniversary, and glad we chose to stay here again. What a pleasure...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Only a short 2.5 hour drive from our home with lots of ammenities for a short 3 night stay. When you're in the area be sure to make time for the Reperatory Theatre. Although a little late for the age of our grandkids, from the moment the production started, they were spellbound! The cabin was delightful with every ammenity we would need, plus some. The washer/dryer was a nice surprise. Thank you Joe & Casey. Maybe we'll make it an annual event!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We went hiking in RMNP,2 hour horseback ride at Sombrero Stables in town, visited Adams falls (short hike)shopped all the quaint shops of "downtown" Grand Lake, went to Country Stampede Rodeo in Frasier(45 min. drive)and the summer fun at Winterpark Ski resort. We loved the scenic 2 hour drive from Grand Lake to Estes Park via the Trail Ridge road and The Alpine Visitor center 12,000 ft.The cabin was immaculatly clean and tastfullly decorated. There weather was a little chilly even in July til about noon each day! We thoroughly enjoyed this location and all it has to offer!! Thank-You again!! Debbie,Skip,Ken,Jenn,LeahDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great time at your cabin. It had a very private feel to it even though its within walking distance to town. We had a very relaxing weekend getaway, and got to take in the best Grand Lake has to offer. Thanks again, R.C. Boulder, CODid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a fabulous time in your cabin! It was the perfect “get-away” for us. A close friend of ours is getting ready to deploy to Iraq for the second time and was looking for some “down-time” before leaving. Your place provided the perfect solution. The amenities are wonderful. (Board games, Satellite TV, full kitchen, humidifier, washer/dryer, BBQ Grill and dining area) Everything we could ever need. Everything was very clean, cozy, relaxing and close to all of the local activities. We would definitely stay again! Thank you so much…Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This is a beautiful home. It is very well kept and has every creature comfort you could want. We had a great winter vacation here and plan to return during the summer months to enjoy the lakes and Rocky Mountain National Park. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We cannot say enough good things about the cabin and the surrounding area! The cabin itself is very cozy and private yet very convenient to RMNP and the town of Grand Lake. In our six days there the weather ranged from 60's to 20's and from sun to a beautiful, peaceful snow. We were thrilled to see elk right in the yard. It was a perfect vacation!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Our two children (6 and 11), my husband and I spent a week at this beautiful home in Grand Lake. My children loved playing outside watching the chipmunks, finding 'cool' rocks, and enjoying the outdoors and beauty of nature. This home is very comfortable, beautifully decorated and fully equipped with kitchen necessities, ample towels and sheets. We love Grand Lake and the 'Kigin Kabin' was the perfect spot to come home to after a wonderful day of hiking and sight seeing.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great week at this lovely Grand Lake cabin. The cabin itself is beautiful, decorated in the colors of the mountains, and very comfortable. The views from the deck and great room are spectacular, and the location is peaceful and quiet. We were charmed by the town of Grand Lake, and glad we chose to stay here. We hope to return someday.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had such a wonderful time in Grand Lake; the town is charming, the scenery is gorgeous, and the cabin is warm, cozy, and comfortable. Rain gave us plenty of time to relax in the cabin, enjoy some TV, and play some games! Between the rain showers, we visited Adams falls, shopped in the shops, admired the awesome scenery, and tried several local restaurants. I didn’t want to leave and would love to go back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We truly enjoyed this home for one week in early June. The cabin was very comfortable, and completely equipped, a true home away from home. Great location - easy access to town, Rocky Mtn Nat'l Park and great fishing areas. A GREAT vacation spot - we would definitely stay here again!Did you find this review helpful?
