Skyflower Cottage

"Skyflower is a quaint little cottage located at the base of West Mountain at Lake Cascade, Cascade, Idaho. With an open floor plan, it feels roomy for two to four people. It is totally furnished with everything you need for your stay, including a propane BBQ grill, firepit, covered porch and room for tents.

You can walk to the lake in about ten minutes, or drive to the boat ramp in five. Lake Cascade is approximately 20 miles long and about 4 miles wide with 100 miles of shoreline.

There are many things to do; hiking, backpacking, scenic drives, fishing, boating, sailing, windsurfing, rafting golfing and ziplines. The perch fishing has been fantastic in the last couple of years with 13 & 14" being hooked often. Bass and trout are plentiful to.

The snowmobiling is second only to Yellowstone for great snowmobiling. There is sports equipment rental in Cascade for boats, jet-skis, four wheelers, snowmobiles, etc.

Driving Here: Highway 55 or as it is called "The Payette Scenic Byway", will take you through picturesque valleys and the magnificent Payette River Canyons.

Kelly's Whitewater Park - A major attraction in Cascade for canoers, kayakers, rafters and tubers. The park stretches 1800 feet down the Payette River with four man made rapids and a short slalom channel.

Cascade River Walk - Enjoy the scenery, bird life and occasional wildlife as you stroll along the banks of the Payette River as it takes a lone, gentle curve around the town.

Elk Feeding Tours - Sleigh ride to view and feed the elk in winter in their natural habitat providing a unique opportunity.

Natural Hot Springs - numerous natural hot springs are scattered throughout the region east of Cascade. These springs provide a relaxing place to sooth aching muscles after hiking and other activities.

Totem Poles at Arrowhead RV Park - At the southern edge of town, this park boasts at least 50 carved totem poles scattered throughout the park. The craftsmanship involved in the creation of the poles is sure to fascinate those lucky enough to view them.

Yellow Pine - A good day trip to a small, mountain community with a year-round population of around 40 is a remnant of Idaho's past. Yellow Pine is an excellent starting point for exploring the backcountry and the ghost mining towns of Stibnite, Cinnabar and Thunder Mountain. The town hosts one of the nation's largest harmonica festivals every August..

Skyflower lake is 7.1 miles from the turnoff from the town of Cascade located on the west side of Cascade Lake. This is a great location if you have your boat. The ramp on the lake's west side is located within a 10 minute walk. The cabin is over 9 miles from Kelly's Whitewater Park. We spent each day of our two week stay river running or play boating at Kelly's. Cabin has everything you will need. Bathroom is very tight.

Spent a week here on our honeymoon. Very clean and comfortable and well stocked with cookware, utensils, etc. Plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy within an easy day's drive (or even walk). Owners very easy to work with and accomodating. Highly recommend.

We arrived at the cabin to find a very well prepared domicile for our stay. The owner had stocked it with towels, all the kitchen requirements and even fresh flowers on the table. Very clean, close to the lake and beaches. A perfect get away from the heat of Boise. We will be back again! Very quaint, rustic cabin 90 minutes from Boise.

We spent a relaxing week just chilling enjoying the peace and quiet (no TV) in this little cabin in the trees. A well stocked newly renovated kitchen with everything you could possibly need. Attentively decorated and clean. Great that it was pet friendly for our two Shelties. Paula is a gracious and very thoughtful and friendly hostess who lives across the road and went above and beyond to make sure we were well cared for including helping to move things inside, providing a fan and tending to my hustand's injured foot (which we later learned was broken before we went on vacation), just to name a few. The bed was comfy and open floor plan is great. There is a small porch with a rocker and fire pit where you can roast marshmallows and plenty of parking. I highly recommend for a couple or two. The bathroom is tiny, but servicable. The steps were a bit of a challenge for us with our infirmities and an old dog, but I understand some remodeling is in the works which should improve the ease of entry. There is a boat ramp a couple of minutes away and it is near several State campgrounds and day use areas with good beach access. Bring your water toys and a beach umbrella. The lake (and campgrounds) were virtually deserted when we were there. I'll bet there is great snowshoeing, cross country skiing and snowmobiling in the winter. For those who can't disconnect entirely there is cell service and a few places in Cascade with Wi-Fi about 15 minutes away. There are lots of scenic drives (I recommend the trip to Warm Lake) and shopping in Cascade and McCall. Hwy 55, which connects with Boise and Lewiston, hugs the Payette River most of the way to Boise and is a beautiful (and curvy) drive. Cascade is about 75 miles from Boise and the drive takes at least 2+ hours depending on weather and traffic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and meeting Paula and look forward to returning. We had a fabulous time! (There is also a larger 3 bedroom cabin available across the road which is very nice and would work well for a group to rent both)
