Hacienda La Linda is a 500 Acre total Eco-gem. 300 acres of which is protected secondary rainforest that borders the Tirimbina river area, and backs up to the Brauilo Carillo National Park, which is a major bird corridor through the area. Costa Rica has the mosr bird species of any country in the world and our zone has the most species in the country. It is also a working plant farm that has been in operation since 1978. The Sarapiqui is a class 3-4 river that runs through the property , behind the house, and provides us with many miles of various types of river terrain to provide every possible form of river excitement. Located in the rainforest ,behind our house , is a 14 station zip line on our property that has a final run of 700 meters. Our 20 year association with our partners at Adventuras Del Sarapiqui, gives us unparalled abilities to accommodate all types of tours and adventures. Combined with our 34 year history on the property gives us more than 50 years experience in the area. Having your own private house getaway located at the river's edge is an experience like no other . This property has never been open to the public before now. Don't miss out on a well kept secret for over 35 years.

One of the most incredible vacations have ever been on. The staff was extremely accommodating and even cooked me an authentic Costa Rican meal right in my kitchen. Sitting out on the porch listening to the sound of the river, tucans, and monkeys howling was an experience I will never forget. The house was presented beautifully and the open air layout was perfect. I would recommend this property to everyone especially for those interested in outdoor activities such as whitewater rafting and ziplining that are done right on the property. Also for those looking for some r&r as the 2 nights I was there were I had the best nights sleep since I was a little kid. Great place!Owner response: What we are trying to accomplish at Hacienda La Linda is expressed in this review. You can have the best of both worlds here. You can relax to the sounds and views of nature outdoors, or you can jump in a participate in activities exclusive to this farm. Either way, you are bound to be smilling the entire time.

Our stay at Hacienda La Linda was like being transported back in time to a place where I have somehow already been. I felt instantly comfortable in this homey atmosphere and welcomed by our hosts that live nearby on the property. The warm breeze passes freely through the house's large screened windows. The bedrooms are large and comfortable with private bathrooms. But it is the porch that is the true treasure of the house. We sat for many hours outside on the rocking chairs watching and listening to our private jungle show. Birds, monkeys, and river rafters were all on display. It was truly a peaceful escape. A couple things to be aware of however: the house feels more like two bedrooms rather than three. The third is downstairs and feels quite separate from the other two. Also, there are no tv's or internet here. Personally, I thought the lack of tv's added to the appeal but I definitely felt the lack for internet. That being said, I loved it here and hope very much to stay again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you for your imput and ideas. We have already looked into prepaid internet aircard for future visitors, and they will be available soon. The third bedroom is on the bottom floor and not much we can do about that except have everyone spend all their time out on the porch ! It serves as an opportunity for 2 more people to enjoy the beauty of Sarapiqui and all it has to offer.

Year Purchased: 1978
About the owner: We have lived in Florida and Costa Rica our whole lives. We are 3rd generation Floridians. The property in Costa Rica was purchased in 1978 and used it for Ornamental plant production the last 34 years to supply our nursery operation in Florida. The house on the farm sits on approx 500 acres of land. Over 300 acres of this is secondary rainforest protected in a program we decided to join to keep the natural bird corridor open from the National Park, through our property ,on down to the coast. We have always loved taking friends down to Costa Rica and showing them the beauty of the country and our area. We wanted to expand our vision of having people know Costa Rica, our zone, and our property more intimately. To do this we thought of renting our private home in one of the most spectacular locations I could think of. We have traveled the world and still feel this is one of the hidden gems we've kept secret for along time. But now ,with a 17 station zipline located in the jungle on the property, a class 3-4 river running right behind the house for rafting, and all the other beautiful sights, it's time to let in the rest of the world to see what they have been missing. Please join us in an adventure of a lifetime, that we have enjoyed for a lifetime. It's time to open the gates of Hacienda La Linda for all the world to see!
Why the Owner Chose La Virgen:
This is the home that sits on a working plant farm. We have chosen to remodel the house and surrounding area to be utilized by people who want to see all that the outdoors has to offer in Costa Rica, and have an adventure of a lifetime. The tours, the animals, the people, the location, is unrivaled for adventure and relaxation. Everything you need is right out the front door on the property.
The Unique Benefits at this Farmhouse:
The sound of the river at night lulling you to sleep. The birds and their sounds and colors. The private location. The tours on the property. The rainforest. All these make your stay at Hacienda La Linda unique, personal, and unforgettable. The bird life is unique in that there are more bird species is our zone than any place on Earth. With the bird book in the house to identify the species, there are endless hours of incredible bird watching. The river behind the house and the plants in the garden draws birds of all types all day long.
