We had such a fabulous stay at the Edward Isham House. We came to ski at Bromley Mt and found travel between the two easy and appreciated the house's proximity to Manchester Center. The house surpassed our expectations in every way. It was immaculate, very well appointed, and had a cozy feel despite its large size. I don't think the photos do it justice!! The layout was perfect for two families with the kids enjoying their space in the loft, and the adults relaxing by the wood stove downstairs. The owners provided excellent and flexible customer service before and during our stay making us feel most welcome. I highly recommend this property and we're already talking about making our visit an annual tradition!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We spent the week between Christmas and New Year's day at the Isham house and had a great time at this interesting and unique home. Our party consisted of 6 adults, 4 children and 2 dogs. The rental more than met our every need. It was spacious and comfortable. The owner has stocked the house with numerous extras that one would not expect in a rental property. The kitchen was better equipped than any property we have rented. It is obvious that the owner takes pride in this house, and tries to make renters as comfortable as possible. In addition, the owner and his support staff were extremely accommodating in every way. What more could we have asked for? Nothing except more snow.Did you find this review helpful? The house was perfect for the 8 of us...grandparents/children and grandchildren! The bonus room, deck, kitchen & dining room were perfect for a family of diverse ages to enjoy. Plenty of space for all with a welcoming decor. The owners provided everything you would want in the rental--including items in baths and the frig you wouldn't expect. Made life allot easier for shopping for kitchen supplies. The home is in close proximity to town and places of interest--including the nearby Hildene and Ormsby Farm were sites not to be missed. Can't say enough good things about the home. Extremely clean and well-supplied baths, bedrooms, etc. Wouldn't hesitate to come back for another visit. Thank you! We stayed (two families, 9 people) over the Presidents week and could not have been more pleased. The house is large and comfortable with a great location just outside of Manchester. The owner was great and offered us a discounted night should we be snowed in on the last day of our stay. I would and have recommended this house to friends and family.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners.

My wife, son, in-laws and I spent a long weekend at Isham house last ski season. Our stay was fantastic. The home is beautiful, comfortable and well equipped. We were delighted to find lots of toys and a fun loft play area for our son. The owner was very accommodating and was basically our personal concierge for all our needs and questions. The location is great for access to downtown Manchester and local ski areas. We will definitely be back for a winter and/or summer stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent a week at the house between Christmas and New Year. The house was a nice size for two families of 4 and had everything you needed to cook for ourselves. The heating worked well, which was just as well, as it was freezing, and we enjoyed the wood burning stove. The village had a good number of restaurants and shops including a great book store. Would stay again in the summer or winter.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

The Edward S. Isham Carriage House was an ideal house for us 9 bicyclists. The floor plan allowed us to get together as a whole group, small group, or to find our "own space". The bedrooms were furnished with king, queen, and single beds, so both couples and singles were accommodated. There is a lot of floor space for overflow sleeping. And the new couches were very comfy! The 3 bathrooms were very accommodating. Since we made all our breakfasts and dinners at the house, the dining and kitchen facilities were very important. Both were spacious and very well supplied. We appreciated the kitchen eating area for breakfasts and as a gathering place. The outdoor deck and grill were a big plus. There is ample parking in the back and the large grounds made a great whiffle ball field. It is located right on a busy road and the summer traffic starts at 5:30 am. If you're an early riser, you may not need an alarm clock. The house is a renovated carriage house, with a lot of character and all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay. The Manchester area has much to offer, and this residence is central to it all. Jed, the owner, couldn't be more available, considerate, and accommodating, and that is essential to having an enjoyable stay. We will return.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

If you are lucky enough to book at the Isham Carriage House you will find yourself in for a great treat. Not only is the house really comfortable, charming totally updated and equipped, but Jed Silverstein who owns it is a superb caretaker. His goal is to make sure you have a wonderful time and if there is anything that he can do or provide for belive me he will- in the most charming way! I have had a lot of experince with rentals being in the real estate business myself, and believe me this rates an A+. The location is excellent- 5 minutes from town and 15 minutes to Bromely - a bit futher to Stratton. I would so hightly recommend this property and in fact do because I believe everyone will enjoy it as much as we have! It is the best expeiernce you can have. Enjoy!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Wow - we knew it was big but it is enormous. Had a wonderful time and felt as if we were staying in our own house. Scrupulously clean and equipped with everything you might want. We loved the log stove and ate in every night but the last night (by the way would highly recommend the Reluctant Panther for dinner). Plenty of room to spread out - would not have enjoyed Manchester so much had we been in a hotel. Great walks and trails, historic houses. Five school friends of a certain age loved living the American life (3 of us having travelled from Scotland). Hope that you get lots of people to enjoy your wonderful house. Jed made sure we had settled in.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Coming all the way from Austria to see our friends getting married in beautiful Vermont, we could not imagine a better place for our stay. Even though the house was full – we used every available bed - there was plenty of space for both, socialising and having some time on your own. We really enjoyed chilling at the fire place and listening to the huge collection of albums. The house was perfectly equipped, so that we could even host the post-wedding-day dinner for 19 people! If ever any other close friends decide to celebrate their wedding in Manchester, we would definitely come back to the Isham house! I highly recommend the Isham house. We stayed for a week in August and could not have asked for a nicer place to stay. The house is very well appointed and it was spotless upon our arrival. The owners make sure that guests have everything they could possibly need, from clean linens and towels to kitchen staples to maps of the area. Jed was extremely pleasant and made the reservation process very easy. He even called our first night at the house to make sure everything was in order when we arrived. We have been to the Manchester area many times throughout the years and this definitely is one of the nicest places we've stayed. It was a completely stress-free experience from beginning to end!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the house over the fourth of July weekend, and it was a huge hit with my in-laws and kids. The house was not only well appointed for both adults and kids alike, but Jed and Judith went above and beyond to make sure our stay was comfortable. The layout of the house allows plenty of space for everyone...we never felt like we were living on top of each other! We fell in love with the fire pit in the backyard, celebrating the 4th with a good old fashioned bonfire complete with s'mores and sparklers. We also enjoyed our short drive to the Dorset farmer's market. We purchased a small feast of locally grown produce and meat while enjoying the music and browsing handmade crafts. Our only regret was not having another few days to explore the area. We will definitely consider booking a week during the winter to enjoy the slopes!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We just got back from another great vacation spent at the Isham Carriage House. This is the second year in a row we have rented for presidents week and it could not get any better. The house is immaculate, completely equipped, comfortable and a great place to relax and get away. It is close to town, skiing and amazing hikes. Jed, the owner, is a pleasure to rent from and truly wants you to have an amazing stay. We love Manchester and have rented other homes but none can compare to the Isham House or it's owners! Thanks Jed.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in the Isham house over Christmas and New Year's, and had a terrific time. The house has tons of character and plenty of room for a family or group to spread out. The living room is great for hanging around the fire, plus tons of space upstairs for games/tv etc. The master bedroom suite is wonderfully spacious and private. The kitchen is also spacious and well-equipped. The house offers lots to do inside with a great library, album collection, games and videos, plus is in a great location for access to trails for cross country skiing or hiking. We especially enjoyed skiing over to the Hildene House (Robert Todd Lincoln's summer home) and touring the house and grounds. Also had a memorable New Year's Eve dinner at the neighboring Wilburton Inn. Jed was very accommodating and provided great information on the house and area. Overall a very pleasant experience and highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/4

This is a wonderful house. It has charm with wood plank floors, a wood stove and an interesting floorplan. But it also has comfort, something often lacking in the more "charming" rental houses. It is wonderfully appointed with comfortable furniture, quality linens, a fully stocked kitchen, and a fun "play room." Our kids loved the many children's books, movies and foosball table. The owners were very helpful, setting us up with everything we needed for the baby, including a pack and play and a high chair. The house is situated close to the road, so you do hear a bit of traffic, but it was never a problem, and truthfully, "traffic" in Manchester basically meant a snow plow going by every few hours. The house is located really close to everything...we skiied, ice skated, went sledding at the local high school hill, ate out, outlet shopped, went on a sleigh ride...you name it, you can find it nearby. We highly recommend the house to anyone...especially a family with children.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

As my wife died this year, I could not host Christmas this year at my home. The Carriage House was a wonderful thought. My family loved the amenities, the kindness implicit in the little things that show a thoughtfulness unique to this unseen host. There was even food in the fridge and in the cupboard. My family will return again. EdRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

When made a last-minute decision to head out of town, we had no idea the Isham house would provide the perfect getaway. The extremely nice owners made the reservations easy. The property is situated on a peaceful tree-lined road a nice walk away from a nursery—which, this time of year, provided delicious apple-cider donuts and a pumpkin to take home—and the house itself is a spacious, yet amazingly cozy, and beautifully decorated find. A short drive later, and we were among the quaint shops of Manchester Village, with its cottages of bargains and Main Street charm. We couldn't have asked for better, and we will definitely be recommending the Isham house to friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Thank you for making it so easy to rent your beautiful home. My family and I enjoyed a nice time and so close to Manchester, Vermont. The backyard was a beautiful spot to enjoy a dinner outside, and the inside was immaculate, as was the amazing relaxing jaccuzi. I just wish we could have stayed longer. I would recommend this property to a friend for the location, the outlets, and the Sirloin Salloon! I'm happy to be able to finally share what an outstanding time we had in Manchester, VT, at the Isham House. The house bounds with history, and each room is uniquely and tastefully decorated. The house is very large and will easily accommodate the largest of families, with areas to both hang out with your family and get away to be alone. And though it was too warm to use it, there is a wood stove that I imagine makes winters even cozier. You may not want to leave. Then, if you do, you will be rewarded with all that the area has to offer: lovely Manchester Village, the Equinox, nearby ski resorts, and nice day trips out. There's even a large grocery store where you can buy everything you'll need to eat in and relax. I agree about the owners being easy to work with, and the kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking supplies. I highly recommend the Isham House for those looking for something a little different. Thanks.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed at the Isham House in August the week of our wedding and we could not have made a better choice. The location was amazing right in the heart of Manchester and right next to great attractions including the Hildene and Mt. Equinox. The owner obviously takes great pride in his beautiful home and could not have been more accommodating. He gave us great tips on places to go and even ideas for where to have a wedding brunch. The home was amazing, it was very well maintained with many modern conveniences including a jacuzzi in the master bath. The house was big enough to accommodate a large family and so nice that our family members who were staying at other rentals jumped ship to bunk with us! We are so grateful for the great experience we had staying here and for Jed's hospitality, it really laid the foundation for a great week! Thank you Jed!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
