"Thank you so much for sharing your cabin home with us! We had a lovely time - we enjoyed waking up to coffee and breakfast on the deck, enjoyed the crisp mountain air. The toys kept the kids entertained for hours! Evenings were spent gathered around the fire - s'mores for the kids (and adults, too, who am I kidding?) and wine for the parents. Hot tub was a wonderful way to relax in the evenings. Also, my mother and aunties love the decor - with the embroidered paintings and tapestries. Oh, and loved the quick hike to wild blackberry bushes on the Alta Vista road. The kids' favorite activity! We couldn't have asked for a more perfect home on our trip. Thank you again for your hospitality."Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Seven friends and I booked this vacation home several weeks before our stay. The owner was very helpful in guiding us through the rental process. She replied to emails very promptly and answered any questions we had. The home itself is split into two parts. There is a separate "master bedroom" which is detached from the rest of the house. The other part of the house has 2 bedrooms and 1 bath. The amenities were very clean and welcoming, and also had a very warm and cozy touch. Throughout our stay, we felt very comfortable and at home. There were plenty of towels, cleaning supplies, and even movies for entertainment. The kitchen and nook weren't enormous but more than enough for our cooking needs. Outside, there is also a wonderful deck with a clean BBQ grill and patio table. We didn't get a chance to use the hot tub but from what I could tell, it was in a clean and usable condition. Overall, we all agreed that our stay was wonderful and we would definitely consider coming back. We'd recommend this vacation home to families, couples, or friends looking to take a weekend trip.Recommended for: Girls getaway, age 55+, families with young children.

I stayed here with my husband, our two dogs, and another couple, and we all had a great time. The house is in a beautiful area, and while it's a little closer to the highway than I would like, the layout of the property keeps it feeling wooded and secluded - it's fenced too, which is great for the dogs. We particularly loved the two redwood state parks nearby (both have some dog-friendly trails). The property itself was a great space for a getaway - the kitchen is packed with all the gadgets you'll need, the deck is beautiful, the hot tub is cozy, and the fire pit is perfect for s'mores and easy to use. The hammock by the fire ring was also a great spot for curling up with a book. The beds could be improved a little - the main house only has bunk beds and a double bed and the extra cabin has a very uncomfortable king bed. But we were able to move mattresses around to accommodate even our very tall friend and we all slept well. And the owner is a dream to work with - she's friendly and helpful and her house rules made us feel welcomed, not chastised or nagged. If we come back to the Santa Cruz area we will definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

I went to Boulder Creek cabin with 3 closest friends last weekend. Suzanne, the owner was very professional and helpful and kind to let us spend 1 night at the vacation home. The home was very clean, gorgeous and spacious with small individual cottage located several feet away from the house. We had an incredible evening with barbeque on the deck and cosy time in the hot tub. The rest of our getaway was perfect!!! It was so sad to leave the home on the next morning. We wish we could spend longer time there. We will definitely will contact Suzanne again and return to the vacation home in the near future. I highly recommend the place to everyone. Pure serenity, comfort and relaxation. It was amazing experience. I went for a brief getaway at the cabin with 3 closest friends. Suzanne (the owner) has been very professional, helpful and kind letting us to stay for 1 night at the cabin on a short notice. The cabin is really clean, gorgeous and spacious with individual small cottage located several feet away from the main house. We had an incredible evening with barbeque and cosy time in the hot tub. The rest of our getaway turned out perfectly! It was really sad to leave on the next morning. We wish we could spend longer time at the place. We rented the cabin for the weekend as my niece was getting married at Camp Campbell, just 4 miles up the road. The cabin is very comfortable and lots of room to move about. It is fully equipped with everything you will need for your get away weekend. I would highly recommend it and hope to rent it again in the near future. We did a day trip to Santa Cruz and Capitola--only 10 miles down Highway 9.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

My boyfriend and I are both in the military, and we will be apart for 11 months soon, so over a long Memorial Day weekend, we decided to rent a vacation home so we could cook and have a relaxing time with friends and their kids. It was hard to find a place; but luckily for us, Suzanne had a cancellation and could get us in. First, I'd love to tell you about the owners of this home - they put a lot of love, care, thought and effort into this house. Suzanne is very friendly and also extremely punctual. We literally started making arrangements two days in advance and she was very nice to me throughout the entire process, including my incessant e-mailing. She thoroughly answered all questions and left me feeling great about everything. Now, for the best part - the house! We took the "scenic route" up through beautiful redwood forest preserves. Every detail of Suzanne's directions was on point. She really knows this house! Let me tell you - the pictures do not do this home justice. It is beautiful, clean and just feels cozy :) There are so many cool aspects to the house, as well. The bathroom has a very big tub and the coolest part is that the floor is made of finished little grey pebbles! It is so neat. The house is equipped with EVERYTHING you will ever need. The kitchen has literally every item you would want to cook and even has a lot of basic ingredients. There is a waffle iron, cookware, storage containers and a gas range (the best to cook with), as well as a grill outside on the deck. It's really nice to wake up on Sunday morning and have hoomemade Belgian waffles, fruit and whatever else you might like. The outdoor patio is pretty large with lots of seating and has a little babbling brook that runs behind it and it really nice to sit and listen to. The separate small cabin with king sized bed is perfect for families with small children or for those who want a bit more privacy from the group. The "kids" room has three twin sized beds AND a full sized bed to boot. The main bedroom in the main house is so cozy. It's beautiful and has candles and is a very comfortable bed. All-in-all, I loved this place and the whole experience was great. Thank you Suzanne and your family; I hope one day soon we can stay again.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Kim, thanks so much for your lovely review! I'm so glad the weekend worked out for you & hope the months go by quickly for you and your boyfriend. Take care! - Suzanne

We moved from England to Santa Cruz County with our two small children and part of our relocation package was temporary accommodations for six weeks. Thankfully we spent those six weeks in this cabin. We needed a fully-functional, turn-key home that we could take our family of four and immediately have a kitchen with everything I could need for meals, and accommodations with enough space for all of us to sleep. We got so much more than we bargained for. The kitchen is amazing though, almost everything I could have wanted and I’m a pretty serious cook. It was way better stocked than any vacation home I’ve ever stayed in. This house is nestled among the redwoods in a way that feels cozy by design. Yes, it’s right next to Highway 9 but the traffic noise was completely unnoticeable. The speed limit on that road is like 30 mph, it’s not as if it’s next to a freeway. And honestly, I was really glad it was so close to the main road up to Boulder Creek; some of those little winding side roads up there are complete nightmares and it made it REALLY easy to make a quick run into the shops for groceries or the awesome tri-tip sandwich at the deli in the back of the liquor store (trust me, it’s soooo good). The moment we walked in the door, I was green with envy that we didn’t own it ourselves. It’s such a beautiful retreat space. It’s very kid friendly; the kids loved the room with the bunkbeds and the toys that were shared by the owning family. But this room would be very comfortable for adults as well. I spent several nights in there on the third bed (daughter had a fever, husband was snoring) and I slept really well. What it really boils down to is that the owners are so thoughtful. They have thought of everything. They are really passionate about sharing this space in a way that genuinely made us feel like special guests. It was such an amazing experience for us . All the little extras are just there and it feels like home. Only better, because when you leave someone else scrubs the shower ;). We only live ten minutes away now, we’re still in the redwoods (not quite as deeply up there as this cabin is), but just yesterday my son turned to me and said, “Mom, I miss the Boulder Creek house sometimes.” And when I thought about it, I do too. It’s really lovely and gave us such a soft place to land and will always hold a magical place in our memories. Is it crazy to vacation ten minutes from your own house?Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, pet owners, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your lovely review! We were thrilled to have your family & so glad we helped make your huge move easier. I just love your son's comment! :-)

About the owner: We first saw our house in the winter rains and were instantly charmed. It is a cozy retreat in the redwoods, and it has been lovingly maintained and decorated for our family and friends' use. It has been exclusively our family's weekend and holiday retreat for the past seven years. We've had countless special times there with our children, friends, and visiting relatives. It isn't just another rental house - the rocking chair is the one Grandma Linda rocked all her children in, the rugs have been in the family for 40 years, and so on. We are very happy to share the house with others and have been thrilled that so many guests have discovered the Santa Cruz Mountains while visiting.
Why the Owner Chose Boulder Creek:
We loved the magnificent redwoods all around, including our own "Fairy Ring," and only 25 minutes down the hill to the beaches.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Boulder Creek: Boulder Creek is a vintage small town - it has one stop sign! It's the town closest to Big Basin Redwood State Park, so most visitors go to Boulder Creek on their way to take walks or hikes in the old-growth redwoods. Even though Boulder Creek is very small, there are two grocery stores - one Safeway-like, the other more similar to Whole Foods. There are also several restaurants, a great coffee place, a brewery, a couple of fun antique stores & a couple other thrift stores, a pharmacy, pet store, and a few places to get wonderful massages/facials. One of our favorite outings (and our dog's!) is a ride on Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow-Gauge Railroad - we ride the steam train up to old-growth redwoods at Bear Mountain, followed by a hike among more amazing old-growth redwoods at Henry Cowell State Park (right next door). We also love to spend the afternoon exploring the river and river-beaches and berry picking.
