Puerto Jimenez house description
A 'cut above' in quality ambiance and strong solar power, Casa Mil Flores enjoys a very private (almost 1 acre) lot, planted with flowering trees and shrubs, plus fruit and herbs. Located a short walk off the beachfront, the house is close enough to enjoy the sound of the rolling waves on Playa Carbonera in the Cabo Matapalo area.
Beautifully designed with white curved concrete walls and accents of glass block, the house also has wood flooring on the 2nd level and massive decks and porches for outdoor leisure. The kitchen in Casa Mil Flores is well-designed and equipped for those who appreciate a chef's level of amenities. Solar refrigerator with freezer area (uncommon in the area), commercial grade stove and oven, snack bar, inside-outside wood bar and loads of counter-top space.
Each level enjoys a full bathroom with shower and each level has living room furnishings. The patio furniture is plentiful and in good taste. There is a gated entry, for added privacy.
Enjoyment to be had here:
Enjoy the comforts of home, coupled with the wonders of the rain forest and beach at Casa Mil Flores. Four types of monkeys frequent the property, while macaws use a flight pattern overhead. There are Jesus Christ lizards living nearby, along a babbling brook.. It's a very lively jungle with real wilderness adjoining the property, yet within the yard, manicured lawn and gardens are pleasing to the eye.
Hammocks are available, plus lounge chairs for relaxation. Trails are nearby, taking one through the forest, up the river beds, and along the beach.
So many natural wonders are all around. The sense of being in a wildlife refuge abounds. There are matapalo vines, guanacaste trees and waterfalls within walking distance. Bird watchers come nearby to see exotic birds on their tours.
Guests find much enjoyment by being less than 100 meters away from Martina's Bar-Restaurant: Buena Esparenza. There people meet one another and remark on what a small world it really is, as they find common ground on which to make new friends.
The sea, the surf, the river mouth, so much to enjoy!
Highlights and Reasons to Choose Casa Mil Flores
^The solar power of Casa Mille Flores is so powerful that lighting is brighter than most other nearby homes, fans are plentiful, 110 AC power is abundant.
The kitchen could be used for a commercial-sized feast preparation! There are so many surfaces for preparation of food.
The living space is large, well furnished and opens out onto a massive deck where the party can accommodate several guests.
The rent rate is on the low end, for so many amenities and so much quality. The location and privacy make it an even better value, starting at $140 (first two adults) per night in the high season and $105 per night in the green season*(see rates below).
The proximity to a place for lunch and dinner dining is also a reason to choose Casa Mil Flores. It is the closest rental house to the Bar-Restaurant: Buena Esparenza. It is also one of the most elegant and stylish houses of Cabo Matapalo. The home now has WIFI and a Gas Grill!

- Everything that the great outdoors offers, is here, and in addition, you will experience jungle animals and birds, 4 kinds of monkeys, and exotic tropical plants. The gulf offers boating tours of several types, including sailing, touring, fishing and kayaking. We recommend sailing with Kim and Melanie Norman, or touring by boat with Changing Tide Tours. The Andy Pruter Ëveryday Adventures'tour, of the rainforest is adventurous and informative. There are yoga and movement classes in the area, as well as spas. The fresh water river nearby is very refreshingly cool. ...moreless

Beautiful Property, wonderful hosts! We had reservations at another property which turned out to be terrible..and accidentally happened upon this lovely home. The managers were helpful but discreet, the house is clean and very well appointed..and the property is terrific. We love the area, the hiking, the wildlife, the beaches and the proximity to town. Only two people in our party, the home could easily handle more. We enjoyed the outdoor bathrooms, and proximity to great hiking.

Luxury in the Jungle!
Luxury in the Jungle!
My husband and I stayed at Casa Mille Flores for 1 week in March of 2012. The house is open air, comfortable and was spotless. The grounds were clean, had lots of trees and plants surrounding the house and it was very private. This is a 2 bedroom house with 1 upstairs and 1 on the main floor. The upstairs bedroom is huge and beautiful and has 2 balconies. We left all the doors and windows open to let the breezes and sounds in. Sleeping in the netted bed, listening to the sounds of the jungle is a peaceful way to fall asleep and wake up. The upstairs bathroom has a shower which was open air at the top to enjoy the treetop view. The bed was very comfortable, sheets soft and clean and a there was a fan if you needed to create a breeze. The main floor bedroom looked comfortable as well but we never used it as the upstairs one was so perfect, we saw no need to mess up two beds. The kitchen was very clean and well equipped with everything you need to cook your own meals. There is a fridge with freezer (so there was ice for drinks!). We bought a block of ice but did not need it. The freezer is a definite advantage if you are buying groceries for a week. Although you can cook for yourself, I recommend you treat yourself to Melanie's dinners at least once. We did twice and both times her meals were amazing. We also walked to Martina's a couple of nights for dinner. Food there was excellent as well and it was nice to have a margarita. This is a great home in the jungle to enjoy watching and listening to the monkeys and the birds. It is a peaceful area filled with wildlife but you do not feel alone. Melanie and Kim were very welcoming and helpful but not intrusive. We never hesitated to ask for assistance with booking excursions or taxis or just to ask questions about the trees and plants. Although you cannot see the ocean, it is only a short walk along a path to it. We did have trouble swimming at this beach as the waves made it challenging to get in and out. It is not a beach for children or weak swimmers. I think if we had timed the tides better we may have had more success. Although we don't surf, there were surfers there who said it was great. They seemed to have no problem getting in and out so maybe it was just us. There is a nice beach for swimming just 15 minutes down the road and the river mouth just down the beach to cool off in. There is as much or as little as you want to do. This trip we did little. I love

Manager response: Hello Michelle, Thanks so much for the review. You have described the house so well, and from a perspective I do not have, as someone who has stayed there. I'll have to experience the house, and perhaps borrow a few descriptions from you as well. We really enjoyed being your hosts and are appreciative for your return here, for more of our hosting, next February! Because you commented on the wave danger you mentioned, just a comment about that: there have been frequent large-wave circumstances this year, but often it is also almost as calm as a lake out there, believe it or not. I am inspired to create perfect some more recipes because your comments on my cooking. Thanks also for those kind words. We look forward to greeting you again next year. warm regards, Melanie and Kim Norman
We visited Costa Rica and stayed at this property with our cousins. This was such an incredible experience! We were surrounded by beautiful trees and plants with all the birds and different monkeys. We loved hearing all the animal sounds. We were just a few steps away for the beach, which was just awesome! The neighborhood bar/restaurant was within walking distance making it easy to either go out for dinner or cook in! The facilities were immaculate. We really enjoyed our stay!

A much appreciated week at Casa Mille Flores
Kim and Melanie! Awesome! That is how to describe our week there in Matapalo/OSA Peninsula! Even though we didn’t stay at Casa Dos Rios, but next door at Casa Mille Flores, we had a wonderful time! Your hospitality was truly gracious! We loved going to Martina’s for the first night of pizza and delicious watermelon salad! It was so neat seeing the kids and dogs play in and around plus meeting the people of the community. The sailing trip was totally awesome…sailing with 150 plus spotted dolphins was a memorable experience! The beach there at Casa Dos Rios and on down the beach was fantastic as was the drive we took on down to the point. Thank you so much for sharing this bit of paradise with us! Keep your guitar tuned and we look forward to coming again!
