BYERS PEAK LODGE

Byers Peak Lodge sits atop a rocky, wooded ridge on 43 acres, adjoining 1300 acres of open space, just 4 miles east of Granby, Colorado. This magnificent, 5 bedroom, 7 bath, 5000 square foot, custom log home is a masterpiece of Colorado mountain architecture. Completed in 2002, the Lodge provides numerous amenities.

Custom rock fireplaces grace the great room on the main level and the entertainment room on the lower walkout level. The fireplace in the great room features two 6000-pound, lichen-encrusted boulders taken from a cliff on the property. One of these massive boulders is a natural replica of Byers Peak, the 12800 ft. , snow-capped peak oriented directly in the center of the Lodge’s panoramic great room windows. The Lodge’s unobstructed views are unparalleled in Grand County.

The dining area is designed for gatherings of friends and family, with a wide, family-style table and adjoining bar and stools. The kitchen features an enormous, wood-paneled refrigerator, two conventional ovens, a microwave, a vented cooking range, two dishwashers, a trash compactor, and two disposals. For outdoor cooking with a view, the Lodge offers a deluxe, stainless steel, gas barbecue located on the main-level deck, which wraps around 3 sides of the home. Or, for those not inclined to cook, restaurants in every price range are abundant in Granby, Winter Park, and Grand Lake.

Each of the five bedrooms features handcrafted, natural aspen log beds with adjustable mattresses. Adjoining bathrooms offer jacuzzi tubs; separate, seated showers with handrails; sink and toilet. Also in each suite or adjoining hall we have washers and dryers (4 sets total) for your after ski laundry necessities.

The entertainment room, quietly isolated on the bottom walkout level, provides the latest in home theater technology. A ceiling-mounted projector and movie screen provide the ultimate movie-watching experience. Guests can choose from a variety of videocassettes and DVDs, while relaxing on reclining leather sofas, loveseats, and beanbags. We have also just installed Direct TV with the NFL package, and 3D capable movies can be enjoyed through the projector as well.

We spent 3 days at this beautiful home. The pictures don't do it justice! The view was breath taking and the wildlife was so fun to watch. We tried to make sure we had everything covered for our stay but as usual you always forget something. This home is fully equip and has everything you could imagine and made our stay really feel like we were home. And in addition, the grocery store and restaurants are just minutes away. Our family will definitely return for more stays!!! Thank you to the owners for sharing your home with us!

We had an enjoyable visit to this beautiful home. The home has lovely views and the kids enjoyed exploring the hillside and sledding outside the home. The home is well decorated and the log cabin architecture makes for a memorable experience. We loved the huge kitchen table, which easily accomodated our group of 13. The grocery store in Granby is great, much "bigger" than one would expect for a small town. In winter, I'd recommend 4WD as the incline up to the home can be tricky in snow, etc. There were plenty of oversized towels, and the bedding and pillows were very comfortable. It is a lovely home on a great piece of property. Plenty of room for larger groups. The owners were nice to deal with and responsive. For those who enjoy skiing, we had a ball at Ski Granby Ranch (which is GREAT for families with younger kids). We also had a great time exploring the YMCA's Snow Mountain Ranch (15-20 min away), where there are 60 miles of groomed nordic trails, tubing, ice skating, and dogsledding at certain times (the kids LOVED the dogsledding, as did the adults)! This is a really unique property.

Owner response: We're so glad that you enjoyed your spring break at Byers Peak Lodge. We tried especially hard to make sure you had plenty of snow for your skiing and sledding! Please do come again!

My mother and father, along with the rest of our immediate family stayed in this beautiful mountain retreat over the Christmas holiday. We had a vision in our mind of what this cabin and holiday would be like. Let me say that we were blown away with this property (the pictures don't do it justice). It was better than what we had imagined. The home was very clean and well taken care of. The views were outstanding and Nila had the home decorated for us when we arrived! The memories that my family made during this vacation were priceless......kids sledding behind the house, meals around the large table, my father soaking in the views from the deck, and a lasting memory of my mother and all six grandchildren singing Christmas carols around the fire on Christmas eve...!

My wife and I along with three couples spent a magnificent week at the lodge. We arrived in mid-September for the peak of aspen yellow. The views from the lodge were like a postcard everyday. The location was ideal for us as we went hot air ballooning, white water rafting, trout fishing and pontoon boating on Grand Lake and Shadow Mountain Lake. We also made the drive thru the Rocky Mountain Naional Park over to Estes. The wildlife made for great photography. The lodge is beautiful and fully equipped with everything needed. We suggest that any family or group should take advantage of a vacation at Byers Peak Lodge.

This home was perfect for our smaller, personal wedding ceremony and reception. The owners were very easy to work with, and even showed us the house prior to our event. The kitchen has more than what you need in relation to amenities, including plates, glasses, and silverware for over 25 people. Currently, in addition to the kitchen table that seats 12-16 comfortably, there is also a large wooden custom table near the front deck and an outdoor dining table on the deck, with plenty of extra seating as well. The pictures do not do the house or the view justice. We had our event catered by a local restaurant (Brickhouse 40), and the owner plans on booking the house for his own event--- he was so impressed by the kitchen and living areas. It is close enough to Granby to be able to enjoy the town and get the supplies that you want. Close to great golf courses (Grand Elk and Pole Creek were the ones our group played). The downhill mountain biking at Sol Vista was also a hit. We look forward to using the home again in the future, and utilizing the home's amenities even more- we didn't even use the swings out front, the tetherball pole, horseshoes pit, or volleyball net. This house has it all, including a full theater room and a closet full of games! I promise you won't be disappointed with any of the aspects of the house. They thought of it all!

Owner response: We're thrilled that our home is the place where these sweet young people chose to begin their married life together - they were married on our anniversary! We hope they come again - maybe in the winter next time. We know they love outdoor activities: being so close to Winter Park and Sol Vista ski resorts, as well as the 400 miles of snowmobile trails in Grand County, would give them an entirely new menu of fun things to do.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautiful place. We gathered our family together (they are quite spread out) and enjoyed each others company. The home was beautifully and thoughtfully appointed. We did have some trouble with the water supply; however, the owner has assured us that they would take care of the problem. Anyone who stays there will enjoy the beauty of the surroundings. They have swings and a sandbox for our youngest grandchildren and movies with a pull down screen and surround sound for our older grandkids. They were in heaven. We were there for the 4th of July parade in Grandby which was such fun! We had a great time and would highly recommend this wonderful home!!

Owner response: We are so glad you enjoyed our home! The 4th of July in Granby IS fabulous, with parades, games for the kids, and a community picnic. So fun! The water problem was solved as of July 27, 2012, when we completed the installation of 3 300 gallon water storage tanks in the garage to ease the burden on the well pump during peak water demand times.

We highly recommend Byers Peak Lodge. The owners were extremely helpful with planning and any questions prior to our stay as well as being available during our stay should we have questions or concerns (we had none..everything went sooooooo smoothly). This lodge is kept very clean, has every convenience you could imagine, and is tastefully decorated with a 'mountain rustic' theme...but there's nothing rustic about it. Our gathering of family and friends was well accommodated with the open great room and kitchen set up in addition to the wrap around out door porch. We had great weather during our stay, so spent a lot of time on porch swing, walking the property, playing horseshoes, and enjoying conversation and incredible views from the porch. Of course, with a variety of ages of our children, we still enjoyed the ping pong table and home theatre room inside. This was our first time renting a property online or renting such a large property and we had family members traveling from three different states to a property I had never been in. I was initially very hesitant with the process and this price range. Our whole experience was fantastic and I plan to rent this property again in the future! It's perfect for gatherings of family or friends with both large gathering areas inside and out, as well as private sleeping areas with their own bathrooms and laundry. Only one challenge that I can think of...we didn't stay long enough!

Outstanding craftsmanship. Very large home can easily accommodate 3 or 4 families. Truly Epic views! Home is very well stocked and everything is systematically organized and labeled. Everywhere you look is another thoughtful detail. Quite possibly the most impressive home I have ever stayed in, and definitely has the most awe-inspiring views. You get to feel isolated, while being minutes from a grocery store, etc. You will never want to leave! Obviously tons of outdoor adventure in the area with Rocky Mountain National Park down the road, but can have a tremendous time and never leave the property. Grill, ping pong, disc golf hole, quarters, kids swings, and the most fun of all-adult swing! Seriously, a single swing suspended between two full size tree logs planted into the ground. Flying on this swing while staring miles into the mountains will be one of the moments I try to describe to people for the rest of my life. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Owner response: Thank you! The adult swing brings out the kid in us too!

This lodge was even more than we could have imagined. Everything was so nice and the fireplace and views are stunning. Perfect place for our whole family. Roomy allowing for privacy and lots of different activities at the same time.

My family and I stayed in this beautiful home for 4 nights and had a truly fantastic time. We each had a private bedroom and bath, plenty of space and so much to do that we didn't even have to leave the property. Sitting on the porch in the early morning with a cup of hot chocolate, playing games into the evening, and watching movies in the afternoon were just a few of the ways we enjoyed our stay. Every possible convenience and comfort and has been thoughtfully provided and if that's not enough the children in our group cried their eyes out when it was time to leave (the adults almost did to!) We plan to make this an annual trip.

About the owner: We (Russ and Nila) have been married for 45 years. We have lived in Colorado for 41 years. We have 5 children and 17 grandchildren who love to get together and play, laugh, and eat at the lodge.

                          Why the Owner Chose Granby:
We have loved and owned property in the area since 1985, and purchased the property on which the lodge sits in 1990. We have enjoyed ownership in over 1800 acres, including and adjoining the current site. We chose this site because of its unparalleled view at the end of Rocky Ridge.

The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Russ did all of the original design and architectural sketches, which were faithfully incorporated into the final house plans. The massive fireplace is constructed entirely of rock gathered from the property. The great room floor to ceiling windows allow a panoramic vista of beautiful Byers Peak.
