This sturdy 17-year old classic Nantucket post-and-beam, upside-down house offers spectacular, sweeping views of abutting conservation acreage, with South shore ocean views and sounds in the distance.
The second (top) floor offers an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings and panoramic views from every angle. The living room area is bright and spacious, and includes 2 full-sized sofas, a loveseat and 2 swivel chairs, cable TV/DVD, digital music system with iPod hookup and Wi/Fi. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances, and the large dining table easily seats 8- 10 people. This level opens to an outdoor deck with gas grill, and deck furniture to enjoy the ocean breezes, dramatic sunrises and sunsets, and incredible stargazing. No mosquitoes!
The first floor (ground level) has 3 bedrooms – one queen, one full and 4 bunks. There is also a full bath with 2 sinks, and a laundry/mudroom area with washer and dryer. This floor opens to an outside covered porch in the front, and an outdoor shower to the side.
One-half of the basement level is fully furnished, with 2 twin beds, sofa, loveseat, and TV/DVD. This space also includes a second full bath.
Bed linens, bath towels, beach towels, beach chairs and beach umbrella are provided. The ocean breezes keep the house relatively cool, but there are fans in every room if needed.
The house is situated at the end of a dirt road on .4 acres, offering plenty of space for safe, outdoor play, and a 3-car shell driveway. Trails through the abutting conservation land can be enjoyed for walking, running, biking and exploring.
Quiet and pristine Tom Nevers Beach is 1 mile down the road (no lifeguards). There is a playground and baseball diamond in the beach area. Beautiful Madequecham Beach is 3 miles away. The nearby village of Sconset (2 miles) is a great place to get your ice cream, pick up basic groceries, or enjoy a meal out. The historic downtown area is 5 miles away. The Milestone Road bike path and WAVE bus stop are only 1 mile away, but having a car will make the visit more enjoyable for most vacationers.
This property is family friendly. No smoking. No pets.

We had a wonderful week at this Tom Nevers' rental. The house was recently renovated and it is beautifully furnished and very well equipped with new kitchen items, music, tv's, washer/dryer. The owner's were generous with offering beach chairs, umbrella's, and towels so there was no need to haul all of that over which was fantastic. The main floor is upstairs and there are sweeping views of the conservation land and the ocean from the living space as well as from the deck, which also offers a spectacular sunrise and sunset. The breezes are amazing even on a midsummer's day. The living space is very open and family friendly, and the deck is an extension of this space and has lovely outdoor furniture and a grill. The main level has 3 bedrooms which were perfect for our family with extra beds for visiting friends. The lower level is perfect for teenagers, an au pair, or extended family as there is a separate sitting area with TV. The photo's on the website are a clear representation of the house and grounds. In regard to location, Tom Nevers is on the east side of the island and accessible to a variety of nearby beaches. The owner has lots of Nantucket materials and maps to help plan your vacation, and was incredible before our trip offering suggestions on day trips and restaurants. She was very accessible by phone or email. There is also a wonderful caretaker who was a wealth of information about the island; he helped us with any questions or issues that arose. The Tom Nevers beach is quiet and close and very private (about a mile away) and isn't on the town beach maps, so it was really secluded. A great spot for a walk or morning jog and for a late afternoon swim. You pretty much need a car on the island unless you are in Nantucket town, and bikes are a plus. Hope to be back next summer!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway.
