A Non-live-in cook for home style healthful meals available, please inquire with Thomas (340-690-2440) for rates and sample menu. The town of Pitkin may be accessed in all weather conditions via County Road 76, which is paved and maintained in both summer and winter. The cabin is completely winterized and recently renovated with new roof, siding, increased insulation, class A stove and chimney pipes, and new doors and windows. Currently the cabin is only available for summer and fall rental.
The cabin is nestled on a rise above Quartz Creek, which flows through about 200 feet of the property, within the town. The premises include over one-half acre of land with a few mature pine trees and plentiful willows along the stream. Wildflowers of many types may be observed on the property in the summer, and great views of colorful aspens and willows in the fall. We have ample off-street parking.
The interior features a large and comfortable living area with an enormous lichen-stone fireplace an nearby antique wood burning stove. Eight persons may be comfortably seated in cushioned overstuffed chairs or couch. A dining nook easily seats six or more at a round antique table near the modern kitchen. The kitchen is well-stocked with antique utensils and cookware, with modern appliances including an electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, etc. The centerpiece is a 30 x 30 inch hickory butcher block, upon which many a harvested elk have been processed.
The cabin hosts a comfortable full bathroom and ample mudroom for coats and boots. Meals may also be taken on either of the two large decks overlooking the stream. The sound of Quartz Creek decreases later in the summer, but may be heard even in the winter with the doors and windows closed. Enjoy being lulled into a deep sleep by the gentle sounds of the creek flowing from the nearby Continental Divide to the Pacific Ocean! The sound is similar to winds flowing through a stand of pine trees.
Please scroll down to read a brief review of the three newly renovated bedrooms.
