We were amazed by all the detail and country touches. Absolutely incredible view with lake and Mt. Shasta. The beds were so comfortable and the kitchen was perfect for making a large breakfast for our large family. Boyce and Joan were both wonderful to deal with and made us feel very much at home. We had a great time and would highly recommend this home.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We have traveled extensively on many continents and through the United States. We are always in search of unique places to stay off the beaten path. The Muse home ranks as one of our all time favorite places. It is sited on 55 acres and you have magnificent views of Mt Shasta and Lake Siskiyou. Unlike Tahoe where the homes are jumbled close to one another, here you are surrounded only by serenity and quiet. The home's workmanship and wonderful attention to detail need to be seen in person. Everywhere you look there are gorgeous logs, giant slabs of rock, custom cabinetry, lovely granite countertops. The laundry room is larger and better appointed than most people's kitchens. The tree arising in the middle of the great room is so splendid you may actually miss the massive "walk-in" fireplace behind it with the custom wrought iron surround. The home is so large that my husband and I would be reading in front of the fireplace while the children ran back and forth over the "bridge" to the loft area, shrieking with delight all the while, and it didn't even seem very loud. Yet, even though there are soaring ceilings, the house is so well designed that you feel cocooned because of the clever nooks with lower ceiling areas. The property was spotlessly clean and perfectly maintained. The kitchen has a Wolf range with top of the line appliances. It is a cook's kitchen and it was a pleasure to make dinner every night and eat off lovely dinnerware that matches the decor. The owner, Boyce, met us on arrival. He and his wife, Joan, were lovely hosts. They were extremely flexible in our ever changing plans, prompt in all communications, and always extremely courteous. It was delightful to meet Boyce in person and get a personal tour. We had a delightful time sledding outside, skiiing at nearby Mt Shasta, enjoying the magnificent views, and gazing unendingly at the house. Thank you, Boyce and Joan, for allowing us to share your majestic retreat.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Our stay at Majestic Retreat was perfect. The home is as beautiful as the pictures. There is so much detail to the home we would notice something new every day. We felt fortunate to be there sitting outside in the hot tub with the view of Mt Shasta and Lake Siskiyou. We felt so much peace and relaxation. The owners were very accommodating and extremely nice to work with. We would absolutely recommend staying at this beautiful home! We hope to return again some day.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

Our family stayed at the Majestic Retreat when it was a Winter Wonderland. There was about 3 feet of snow on the ground and still coming down when we arrived in Mt. Shasta City. Boyce came to meet us in town and we followed him to the property. None of our cars could make it up the driveway, so he shuttled us in, making at least five trips. We would have been lost without him! He stayed in town all three days we were there to keep the driveway open and to check on our needs. When entering the home for the first time we were absolutely in awe at the grandeur of it all! But as each day went by, we would discover the detail of love and care that was put into this beautiful logged home. Every corner was a decorators masterpiece. The first two days it snowed, and as the kids played outside, we were comfy cozy inside with the two large fireplaces keeping us warm. Needless to say; because of the weather; we spent the entire time in the home. It has everything you would want or need; shuffle board, player piano, big screen TV's, DVD's, etc, and a kitchen that has everything.you would need. And it is all top of the line. Our last day we got to see Mt. Shasta for the first time as the sun began to rise. Oh my gosh. The view changed from minute to minute as the sun rose. A site we will never forget! You must find the time to stay in this one of a kind home. It will be a time you will always remember! Thank you Joan & Boyce for allowing us to stay in your " Labor of Love" home. You went way beyond the call in making our stay a memory we will never forget!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with young children, sightseeing.

I have a group retreat from Taiwan and Beijin, China. We stayed at this beautiful log home for two weeks. It is a heaven on Earth. We were enchanted by the beauty of the view and the magnificent log home is a dream. We meditated on the deck here and I gave lecture here everyday. It is truly heaven on Earth. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. We will be back again and again...Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This has got to be one of the most breathtakingly beautiful homes we have been honored to stay in. We had intentions of eating all of our meals out, but once we were there, we didn't want to leave! So, off we went to Mt. Shasta where we discovered a great organic grocery store. We stocked up and spent the rest of our vacation at this magnificant place. We watched the sun rise from our oh-so-cozy bed, which was good because we did not want to get up because it was so comfortable! We ate all of our meals outside overlooking Siskiyou Lake and Mount Shasta. The weather was absolutely perfect. There is nothing about this place we didn't love! You have a view from almost every room (including most of the bathrooms). We can't wait until we can go back! We went because we were in desperate need of relaxation, and that is exactly what we got! A great place to hang out, make wonderful memories, and discover so many beautiful things about this home. Everywhere you look there is something new to greet your senses. Bravo Boyce & Joan ~ you have done an amazing job, and we so appreciate everything you have done! You made our anniversary one we will never forget.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, people with disabilities, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We had a small family reunion at the Muse Family Retreat. Ten people came from AZ, OR and the bay area to enjoy this exquisite home. The veiws of the Mt. Shasta and Lake Siskiyou are amazing from the deck. This is where we spent most of our time. The home is vey well thought out. It was built to be a family retreat and no expense was spared. From the antler light fixtures, polished stone/mable sinks, picture windows, giant logs, top of the line custom furniture to the wool carpet, every detail is amazing! If you have ever wanted to spend some time in a log home, this is the place to go. It was like staying at a private lodge in a national park. The home is very large (7500 sq. ft), but it is very cozy at the same time. I would suggest you make your reservation, today! But, leave a weekend open for me, because I will want to rent this Majestic home again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2002
About the owner: The owners are avid lovers of the outdoors and the mountains and had long dreamed of owning a log home. Couple that with a long-time love of the Mt. Shasta area and the quest for the perfect building site began. The property was purchased in 2002 but that was just the beginning of years of love and labor that went into this magnificent home and property. The log shell was delivered in 2005 and the home was completed in 2007.
Why the Owner Chose Mount Shasta:
It was not our original intention to make this home available as a vacation rental. It was originally built as a weekend home/retreat for our family.
However, after repeated inquiries we are making it available as a vacation rental for other families to enjoy.
We love Mt. Shasta, the community, our mountain getaway and the limitless beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities available there.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
Being there is calming. The mountain never ceases to be anything but breathtaking.
Its like luxury camping (you have all of the sights, and sounds and smells and adventure of being in the woods) but you are in incredibly luxurious surroundings with every amenity.
You seem to sleep incredibly well there.
It's just a great place to relax and be happy and enjoy your family and friends.
