This three bedroom, three bath home has been recently renovated with new furnishings, two new high-end bathrooms, new french doors out to a new backyard deck. New, heavy duty teak table and 8 teak chairs (can easily accommodate twelve with extra chairs pulled up to table).
The galley kitchen has stainless steel appliances, a subzero refrigerator, 5 burner gas cook top, commercial dishwasher, white cabinets, white corian counter tops and a pantry.
The living room has been completely redone with refinished hardwood floors and new built-ins surrounding the fireplace. The new three panel glass french doors really open the space to the outdoors.
There is a separate eating area that seats six to eight and looks out on the neighborhood and beautiful plantings in the front yard. A step down family room with floor to ceiling windows on three sides looks out on the green and lushly landscaped back yard.
There is a private office with desk and computer area, phone etc.
All three bedrooms are on the opposite end of the house from the living areas so it is possible to nap during the day undisturbed. There is a two car, attached garage and driveway parking as well as on-street parking.
We have an assortment of bicycles, two kayaks, fishing gear, beach blankets, and chairs.

We love our home and want you to love it too...and love your stay here. When we have rented other places in the past it has never been easy for us to come up with a large security deposit as well as paying to stay somewhere nice. We are hoping that by requiring a very small Property Damage Protection coverage fee ($69.00), we can simplify things and allow our guests to just enjoy themselves and relax!
Policy available by contacting owner when booking.
Paying through this free service protects your payment up to $10,000 against listing fraud. If you are not paying through HomeAway Payments always call the owner at the number listed on our website and never use instant money transfer services such as Western Union and MoneyGram.
Adding our Vacation Protection services can make sure your getaway goes smoothly, no matter what. We offer Cancellation Protection, Carefree Rental Guarantee, and Damage Protection so you can truly relax.
Our cute, little village has all of the essentials (no need to ever leave!) ...homemade ice cream at Gone Chocolate, out-of-this- world thin crust gourmet pizza at Crisp Flatbread Pizza, a harborside restaurant/bar to watch stunning sunsets (the Islander at Crosby's Boatyard), a new town library, many assorted boutiques on Main Street, a Mobil gas station and Fancy's Market.
Our home is in the exclusive area known as Wianno. We are within a few minutes walk to beaches, churches, the library, restaurants and the village shopping. You can park your car, hang up your keys and enjoy all amenities by bike or by foot.
For boat lovers, Osterville has three harbors, East Bay, North Bay and West Bay, all with public access. Short-term docking is often available with reservations at Crosby's Boat Yard and Prince Cove.
For the angler in the family, there are many fishing areas including the fishing pier at Dowses Beach. In addition, there are designated areas for shellfishing and crabbing (permit required). Sport fishing charters leave from the Ocean Street docks in Hyannis daily for half day and full day trips. Striped bass, tuna, and blue fish are favorites.
Osterville is a beach lover's paradise. We are part of the town of Barnstable and our beach pass allows our guests access to Dowse's beach, Craigville Beach, Jonathan's Pond, Hathaway's Pond, Veteran's Beach, Sea Street Beach, Kalmus Beach and Sandy Neck. All of these beaches have bath house facilites, parking, lifeguards and food.
Golfing enthusiasts will find many choices within a 20 minute drive. Some of the notable public golf courses include the Cape Cod Country Club, Olde Barnstable Golf Club, Hyannis Golf Club, Paul Harney Golf Club, Cotuit Highground, Ballymeade Country Club, and Quashnet Valley. The private Wianno Club course is on West St, steps from our home.
Shoppers in the family will also be kept very busy. In addition to what is available in the village of Osterville, Mashpee Commons (15 minutes by car) is a wonderful destination on its own. It was built in the style of historic Cape Cod and it's a clean and friendly place to wander in search of something special. Small unique stores selling Cape Cod inspired goods, a fresh juice bar, assorted restaurants, and a movie theater are mixed with some high-end chain stores like Williams-Sonoma and Pottery Barn.
Main Street Hyannis is ten to fifteen minutes from our home in the opposite direction. It has been a major destination for many vacationers for years and has some great shopping and restaurants as well as the John F. Kennedy Museum. If that is not enough, on weekends from late May to mid-June, and daily from mid-June through September there are always the seven Artist Shanties on Hyannis Harbor. If so inclined, people can watch the artists at work and buy directly from them.
In our opinion, no summer can be complete without a trip to Nantucket, at least for the day. The ferry trip is an event in itself and helps to calm even the crankiest among us. If there is enough time, we get up early and get ourselves over to the Steamship Authority in Hyannis for the first boat of the day. That leaves us time to take the slow boat over (costs less than the high speed ferry), enjoy being out on the ocean and then have hours and hours to explore downtown Nantucket or maybe rent bicycles and go to the beach, still having time to eat a nice dinner and take one of the last boats off island that day. Martha's Vineyard is nice as well but is much larger so it would be smart to allow yourself a few days there to really see things.
About the owner: My husband and I grew up in different suburbs of Boston and went to the same college in Chestnut Hill. We met through mutual friends and were married soon after. We now live full time in another suburb of Boston. For us, Osterville is a safe, peaceful, and rejuvenating retreat from the craziness of our every day lives. I am sure you will love it as much as we do!
Why the Owner Chose Osterville:
This property is very special to us because it is where my husband vacationed with his parents and siblings growing up. They spent several weeks each summer renting multiple cottages with their aunts, uncles and cousins and eventually bought this house because of its beautiful lot and perfect location, steps to the beach and a short walk to the village. We have been lucky enough to keep it in the family, so our three girls have grown up vacationing here as well. We spend less time here now that the girls are grown and working full time. We recently did some renovations and would like to do more in future.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Location, location, location! We are just behind Wianno Ave...one of the most exclusive areas of Osterville. Once you get here, it is possible to spend long stretches of time not needing to drive a car. All kinds of fun is within a short walk, jog or bike ride but the neighborhood itself is very quiet. If you need to nap and recharge, there is no traffic noise. The backyard is enclosed by a tall wooden fence for privacy and is planted with flowering trees, bushes and flowers. There is an inground, heated pool as well which, even though not necessary because of the close proximity of the beach, is a real treat. A pool maintenance company comes once a week to clean and maintain the pool.
Enjoy a cocktail & watch the gorgeous sunset from the porch of the Islander.
