South Zone house description
Welcome to Casa Monito in Puerto Vallarta! A modern, luxury vacation getaway that is close to everything, but beautifully and privately above it all! Over 4,000 square feet of vacation pleasure – just wait to you experience the beautiful interiors and gorgeous views! And…it's priced for all seasons! We set one value-price for the year and don't jack it up for holidays and high-season! So, if you want the most popular seasonal dates, don't wait too long.....
Designed and decorated for the utmost in privacy, comfort and enjoyment, this 3-level home has a designer Master Suite on the top level, a spacious, open, beautifully comfortable and modern living-social level on the middle floor, and 3 generous, gorgeous Bedrooms on the lower level(4 BR total). Let the Luxury R&R begin!
Constructed in 2008, the design and decor of Casa Monito is neither accidental nor ordinary. With a top Mexican architect and a clear designer concept, the casa was conceived using the techniques and benefits of modernity, blended with the beautiful touches of traditional Spanish-Colonial styling. This is NOT a cookie-cutter condo, a high-rise ‘box’, a tired 1980’s ‘beach apartment’, or a decaying old ‘villa’ – this is a 21st century ‘Mini-Hacienda’.
Designed on a three-level plan, your Master Bedroom Suite sits beautifully and privately at the Top Level of the casa. Your spacious King Bed (the headboard is custom crafted of Mesquite wood and hand-tooled antique copper) looks out the floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors to the gorgeous views and private sitting balcony (WARNING: armed with your morning coffee or tea, you may never want to leave your balcony chaise position!).
Adjoining your bedroom through wood double-doors (hand crafted of Perota tropical hardwood), is your private office with, of course, the same wonderful views and terrace, saltillo tile flooring, antique desk and cabinetry, wireless internet. The only problem is: Did you really come here to work?
The Middle Level contains the main Living-Social area. Lush but relaxed, it’s framed on one side by a handcrafted stone wall…and, on the other side, by floor-to-ceiling glass doors to the Main Terrace. From here - you'll need to catch your breath - you'll gaze across the Infinity Dipping Pool at the panorama of the the Bay of Banderas, jungled Sierra Madres, dome of the town Cathedral (Our Lady of Guadalupe), and the white walls and orange tile roofs of Old Town and Zona Romantica.
The tiled Terrace is spacious and lovely – along with the Infinity dipping pool, it contains plantings, sitting areas, a long curved marble-countered Bar that opens to the kitchen/cocina, a Built-In Gas BBQ w/counter-cabinet, and a Brazilian hard-wood dining table that seats eight for outdoor communing and dining (by the way, you’ll have your own ‘floorshow’ when the fireworks go off in the harbor below every night about 9PM – best seats in the house!)
Separate but immediately adjacent from both the Living Room and Terrace, is the modern Gourmet Kitchen/Cocina with marble counters throughout, extensive and spacious hand-crafted wood cabinetry, WOLF 36” Gas Range(convection oven), GE Side-by-Side Refrigerator(w/water&ice), Dishwasher, Microwave, InSink garbage-disposal, and a complete water-purification system - and it's own flat-screen TV!. The kitchen has everything you need (even a cook available on request) to cook, serve, eat and drink – from wine opener, to dishes, pots&pans, glasses, tableware and napkins. And don’t forget, the hardwood louvered shutters on one wall fold completely back to fully open onto the terrace bar – so the chef doesn’t miss-out on the view, the conversation or the breeze, and if you are dining on the terrace, just pass the food over the marble bar!
Tired of dining ‘al fresco’ with night-lit views and fireworks? Ready for something more intimate, romantic and elegant? Lucky you – because you have a beautiful Enclosed Dining Room with solid stone Fireplace Mantle-Surround, hand-crafted 5 foot mirror, wrought-iron chandelier, classic Hardwood Harvest Dining Table (seats eight), deeply hued wall colors, decorative plantings, artful wall hangings and decorative pieces. Turn down the chandelier and light up the candles! If you can’t have a memorable dinner here, you must have forgotten the wine and burned the potatoes!
And, oh, yes, the beautiful Powder Room in the foyer is almost a work of art.
The final, Lower Level is for luxurious sleeping and relaxing. It has 3 Large Bedrms with 2 twin beds each (sleeps 6), built-in cabinets/dressers, & 2 large Designer Bathrms with decorative counters and glass-tiled showers. It has an expansive terrace with town-mtn views, and an ‘Efficiency Kitchen’ with stove, sink, microwave, and refrigerator – no need to go upstairs for chilled water, coffee, or even dinner! All the bedrooms have wide-screen satellite TV and wireless Internet is pretty much everywhere.
At the opposite end of this Level, you can always escape to the outdoor, pebbled Zen Garden - a delicious getaway for sitting, reading, cocktails, or quiet contemplation.

We had a wonderful time in P.V. and it all started with our stay at Casa Monita. The casa was very comfortable, clean, and nicely appointed. The property manager met us at the airport, helped us get our rental car, and showed us where to do our grocery shopping. He couldn't have been more helpful. We loved the views from the casa and the sounds of the church bells from the town. The swallows that were always flying around were a delight to watch. We enjoyed our strolls on the beach and in the town. We especially liked the art galleries found on Basilio Badillo in the old town section of P.V. Meanwhile, the food scene was fantastic. We had a couple of lunches at Joe Jack's Fish Shack. Our lunch at Viete was delicious (a great and creamy gazpacho and crispy fish tacos). Our favorite meal was at a superb Mexican restaurant, El Arrayan, located on Calle Allende. But our favorite thing to do was to just lounge around the casa, read, and relax. Would we go back to Casa Monito? You bet!

Great place! I'm coming back!

Better than a 5 Star Hotel! From the moment you walk through the front door you know you're in a high class hacienda. The view from the terrace will knock your socks off, by day, or by night. I love the fact that you can hear tropical birds singing as dawn breaks and yet you are removed from the traffic sounds of Puerto Vallarta. I used the Zen Garden to recharge my spiritual batteries every morning and every evening just before sleeping. Very serene setting which is what I prefer. A short ride down the hill and you are at the beach. I have stayed in the Yucatan and PV and I felt very safe in this community. The best restaurants in Mexico await you in PV. The Casa Monito is ready for a family or group of friends and you can also save money by shopping at Sam's Club or Walmart and doing your own cooking if that is your style. A Grill is located right on the terrace if you want to throw on some steaks. Overall this well appointed and maintained Casa made for an unforgettable experience. First Class! Thanks for the helpful hints from the owner. They made our stay even more enjoyable.

Above it All was the perfect holiday escape for me and my family. It is spacious and beautifully decorated in a simple and traditional way, with accents of modern. The house is well maintained and clean. The master bedroom is dreamlike....a wall of windows opening up to the view of the city and water below. The master bathroom is spa-like. The house is comfortable enough for a family (our 3 year old daughter had the time of her life...although because there are many stairs and a dipping pool on the property, it is not ideal for very small children), and romantic enough for a wonderful couple's getaway. It is a short drive to town, the beach, and anything else you may need. The owner was abundantly helpful with restaurant tips, ideas for activities both near and far. He directed us to amazing, small, secluded beaches a short drive up the coast and told us exactly where we should to eat. It was heaven.

Beautiful Casa perched on hillside above Puerto Vallarta with all the comforts of home!
Beautiful Casa perched on hillside above Puerto Vallarta with all the comforts of home!
It's hard to say what our favorite thing was about Casa Monito because it is so uniquely different from most vacation homes. It goes without saying that the view of Banderas Bay is amazing! We had great fun watching all the water sports taking place during the day, but also enjoyed sunsets and fireworks from the nightly pirate ship adventure! While at the Casa, we spent most of our time on the patio, relaxing and enjoying the view, but when we were ready to hit the beach or have dinner downtown, it was a quick 5 minute drive down the hill to all the action...Playa de los Muertos, the Malecon, and tons of great restaurants! We were also thrilled with the kitchen -- unlike most vacation homes, this kitchen has everything you need to cook a gourmet meal, and best of all, it's open air, so you can still take in the view and be part of the party! This house is beautifully decorated and you can tell that the owner spent a great deal of time and care in making it so...especially the showers! Great views, comfortable and sophisticated living space, close to the action, but still secluded and quiet...what more could you ask for??

Panoramic vistas of Puerto Vallarta and the beach below from Casa Monito's veranda and pool were unforgettable. This superbly appointed tri level home provided the comfort and luxury we dreamed of in a private setting. Puerto Vallarta at its absolute best!

About the owner: Since we fell in love with PV on our first visit, in 2001, we have bought and sold several properties while loving every minute. In between working pretty hard up North, we're down here every minute we possibly can!
Why the Owner Chose South Zone:
Because Puerto Vallarta is an authentic, beautiful, charming, relaxed and fun town!
The Unique Benefits at this House:
How many places can you enjoy all the pleasures of beach, sea, jungled mountains, and urban pleasures, all at once?! Aside from the obvious attraction of the weather and beach, I love to introduce guests to the parasailing, jungle treks and ZipLine adventures, fishing, surfing trips, and local Yoga. PS: While we adore the many restaurants of PV, there is nothing we do and enjoy more than evening dinner with family and friends on the terrace of Casa Monito, overlooking it all!
